Glad you're digging the bars! Looks great on your bike!
I've been running the Comp version of the bars on my Specialized Sequoia for a few weeks. They've been great on gravel and singletrack.
I must say you are a FAST talker! I enjoy the content, keep it up.
It’s partly because I edit out any dead space if I don’t speak for a bit , this keeps the edit from dragging on. Thanks for the support though!
My wife bought me the Beacon WCS in 46 CM for Christmas. By far the most comfortable bars I've ever ridden. I actually really like how angled the brake levers are.
Awesome gift!
Great review. I'm using the Ritchey Venture Max bars on two of my bikes. Not quite as extreme flair and as shallow drop as the Beacon. I have the Comp and WCS alloy versions. The WCS alloy is very nice and light indeed. And the Comp is a really good value as well. They have offerings to please most budgets.
Thanks! Yea the venture maxx bars would be the next set I wanna test , after the next set of bars I already have for review
I noticed you also reviewed the resdhift kitchen sink handlebar. Do you have any thoughts on the beacon bar vs the kitchensink? I am currently running the kitchensink and contemplating switching to the beacon. I like to ride in the drops a lot and was wondering if the brake levers are more accessible from the drops of the beacon which is 30 mm shallower than the kitchensink. Was also wondering if the drop ergonomics of the beacon make it more comfortable than the kitchensink. Thanks!
Would be cool to see other dirt drops like the Daja Cycleworks Far Bar. Trying these out next week
The Far Bar isn't that good, aluminum turned out to be really bad. My bike fell off to the side one time and the bar bent so dramatically, one would think it was involved in a deadly crash
Aloha, your videos are great! A lot of the new flared bars look really cool and functional. However, I ride in a lot of dense traffic. I try to reduce my profile as much as possible. Way back in the day I had flared bars and I felt really vulnerable in heavy traffic. Any thought on how to mitigate this?
Well you’d just go with a narrower bar or one with less flare, make sure to subscribe I’ll be reviewing the ritchey butano soon.
Review the Sonder bomber bars. Extreme 45° flare!
This bar reminds of my On One Midge. It is my go to bar for off road riding. You should find a pair and review it.
Kinda looks like this bar from the company Funn
Nice review. I am about to pull the trigger to get this bar too. Can you tell me what stem you are riding on the bike in the review? Is this a stem where you can adjust the ankle? Thanks and ride on!
Its a Redshift ShockStop stem, has some flex to it for comfort it is not adjustable.
I'm kind of torn between the Beacon and the Venturemax (I'd love to hear your take on those), mainly because of I'm not sure how I feel about the aggressive angle of the Beacon hoods/drop flare (if it makes it more cumbersome to shift or brake?), but I do love the shallower 80mm drops-love love loveeeee! Also what bar tape would fit the 46cm version (and even the 52cm version of the Venturemax-the XL)?
Basically, in theory at least...
Beacon pluses:
- Shallower 80mm drops
- Shorter reach
- More comfort and control potentially, especially in the drops
Venturemax pluses:
- "Ergo-aero" top section (more comfortable tops)
- "Bio-bend" in the drop
- Less aggressive drop flare
- Wider 52cm version available
I haven’t personally tried the venture maxx so I can’t speak to it much, but will hit up ritchey after I review they other bars I have from them for a set.
Bar tape for 46cm you can use standard length of tape. For the 52 look into extra long tape, I know red shift sports an wolf tooth make some.
Venturemax is
Update, I got the Beacons and they are great!
@@raelovejoy I don’t lie haha
Great review. How do they compare to flat bars? I’m a mountain biker so I prefer flat bars
For drop bars they are comfy , it’s still different from flat bar, but checkout my other ritchey bar review that’s for there alt flat bar
Review the SPANK foam filled drop bars. The VibroCore.
I’ve tried to reach out to them, follow me on Instagram and tag me in a post if there’s that actually can help.
At 1:53 what is that tape called you installed below the tape on the drops? And is this the only place you use it on the bars? Thanks!
Fizik bar tape gel I put it on the tops and in the drops
@@LockedinCycling thank you for the speedy reply. Love your informative vids, helping me learn about the road/gravel world and set up my new topstone!
The levers look miles away from your hands when you’re in the drops. Is this a bar problem or just how you have your levers set up?
I love these bars they have a short reach for the tops and long section for the flared drops, I do have a longer torso that’s why I I’m running a longer stem.
Thanks for the reply but I think you misunderstood my question. I’m talking about braking from the drops - the lever reach looks massive on your setup.
Hi. What is the width of the bicycle handlebar in the lower and upper grip?
You have to look at the website to see what the lower with is I’m not sure I know the tops were 46Cm
@@LockedinCycling And what is the width of the drops?
@@steptoorew not sure I don’t own them anymore , they should tell you on ritcheys site and if not I bet u can contact them and ask
