►Replacing your Porsche 987 Cayman's front struts is likely a job in your future as an owner. The springs and dampers control the bumps in every suspension system, and Porsche's 987 Cayman uses a MacPherson strut with a coil spring in the front for its sporty suspension characteristics. However, the strut degrades with age and mileage, hurting the sharp and dynamic handling characteristics that the 987 chassis offers.
Now that the 987 is well over a decade old, a strut replacement can also be a great time for a performance upgrade. You'll need to remove the old springs during the job, so switching to a set of sportier springs or dampers is easy.
