- A terrified dad has revealed the shocking moment the fairground ride he was on with his young daughter malfunctioned and careered out of control - because it was raining.
Ian Williams and his daughter Cally, 10, were coming to the end of a ride on the Wild Mouse rollercoaster in Paignton, Devon, when the buggy they were in smashed into a stationary buggy containing two young children.
Mr Williams captured the whole shocking incident on video which shows his buggy hurtling into the stationary vehicle at the end of the disastrous ride.
Torbay Council has now referred the incident to the Health and Safety Executive for investigation.

it all looks minor, but even these kinds of crashes need to be taken seriously tbh. those are very heavy vehicles and when they collide they could pretty easily damage your spine.

For anyone wondering, this rollercoaster is called "Crazy mouse" eversince then, they added 5 brakes at the end, it's impossible for this to happen now
Do you have any proof if it's the case because if they did that the manufacturer would have to do it and it would be a service bulletin for all crazy mouses worldwide

@thunderthehorsetherian5892 the smilers safety system was over ridden by a silly mechanic, was all human error everything worked as it should until that man for some reason did what he did. Now even that isn't possible anymore and Merlin own the park so I can assure you it's safer than driving a car etc lol..

This is why i never trusted those portable fair rides. They never get inspected nearly enough.
They get completely torn down and inspected whilst they get reassembled, and issues can be spotted sooner than with permanent attractions that only get taken apart over winter.

This is why i dont trust things like carnival rides. They’re set up in one day, and break in one day. I guess the brakes malfunctioned. It wont happen at a theme park as theme parks have to go through inspections and also have multiple fail-safe mechanisms to make sure it wont crash

The only parks you have to worry about are those state fairs and carnivals as they don’t maintain their rides a lot. A theme park on the other hand checks and maintains their rides on a daily basis.

While not a tragic, brutal crash, this is not how rides are supposed to operate. This type of bump at any major park would shut down the ride, possibly for weeks, to fully check out the cars and why the breaks failed to work. I'm glad it wasn't worse
Nah 9/10 times the engineer will cycle the ride a few times empty and it won't happen again because of the less weight in the train and the ride will reopen within half an hour.

People who dont know::this coaster was at mt olympus before it got sold due to an unforgivable accident a grandpa called Anthony was accompanying his grandchildren on this coaster called opa his safety belt failed and threw him out a few feet down.

I remember this ride was shut down for a little bit for multiple malfunction reasons. It was reopened during a fieldtrip and it was fun. But i cant believe that happened at crazy mouse!
Its funny in rct if a ride isnt going fast enough to reach the crash treshold and explode it just stops likes this and guests are completey unaware of another train smashing into them

all that happened was that the train failed to stop due to the brake calipers not having enough grip due to the rain, they made contact with the rubber bumper on the ends of the trains which prevented any damage to the ride, it may look like a hard hit but its not

I don't believe that was the case I believe it was due to low air pressure The ride looked like it was in emergency but there was not enough pressure to keep the brakes closed tight The rain shouldn't have anything to do with it
@@bigmikethetall1of course the rain has something to do with the effectiveness of the brakes like with any other vehicle loads of rides have issues with overshooting in wet weather. Also low air pressure shouldn't cause this anyway as these brakes are designed to fail fully applied. Weather was definitely a factor but I wonder if the brake calipers in the track need readjusting
