I moved to south Florida 8yrs ago from KY and I absolutely love it. I first lived in Miami. If you love a lifestyle where you never stop and are always on the move, Miami might be for you. The clubs, party life is all a Miami lifestyle. I live in Fort Lauderdale now and I absolutely love it. One thing about south Florida that you won't get anywhere else is the year round beautiful sunny warm weather. Only about 1 month out of the year it gets a little cold, in January. It gets down to about 45 at night, around 65 during the day. But come February it warns back up again. For the holidays you can count on being by the pool. I truly love the south Florida lifestyle and I'll never leave.

I live near Miami and let me tell you its not the #1 place to live. Miami has too much traffic, bad drivers, too many tolls, people shoot each other over road rage, super expensive housing thats inflated by international buyers, small yards for houses (if you have a yard at all), the houses are super old and still sell for a fortune, too many HOA places, rude people, the people here are flakes in social meetups, and the salaries dont keep up with the cost of living.

Just add Longboat and with Sarasota and Siesta you have the complete package- shopping, culture, beaches, dining, everything from gourmet elegance to fish sandwich in a marina, public spaces, state parks, recreation. Our only problem is that the more we praise greater Sarasota, the more crowded it will become.

If I 3ver moved to fla, Sarasota would be my choice. I've been watching the real estate, homes close to the water. It's expensive there but it looks so nice.
Hart: I’ve lived here for ten wonderful years. If I took a trip from Siesta to Lido, into greater Sarasota, out to Longboat, cross the bridge to Anna Maria, I would probably travel less than 30 miles, never need to get on a freeway, pass homes and condos with water views from $150K to $4m. I could pass an Opera House, 2 performing arts centers, 2 universities, 1 trade school, a world class botanical garden and 4 museums. Plus 3 excellent hospitals, . I’d need a big calendar to mark gallery openings, boat parades, jazz concerts, Shakespeare in the park with a picnic anywhere from champagne and caviar to pb&j. My father used to say, “ Heaven is going to be whatever everybody wants it to be just for them!” I hope he was correct because by that theory I don’t need to die, I’m already there!

Florida is beautiful! Ocean is gorgeous! We made a lot of videos of the cities, different stores, beaches and new homes construction and noticed a non-stop growth. Florida attracts not tourists only, but a lot of people are coming from other states to live here!
As a Floridian I can't believe they have Miami as #1. I'm suprised it even made the list at all! I would replace a couple of the towns on this list with Tallahassee, St. Augustine or Gainesville!

Owned a home in Naples, Florida from 1990 until 2014. Lived there full time from 2001 until 2014. These will be the absolute best years of my life. I love Naples and miss living there. Beautiful, clean, manicured communities, and the medians on the roads throughout Naples are landscaped so nice. Wonderful beaches, fine dining, The Arts, shopping, etc. My work took me all over Florida. There is Florida, and then there is Naples. Truly great!

@@blackcherry6877 The cost of living was the big reason. Homeowners insurance going crazy, Real Estate taxes, Auto Insurance, etc. That was in 2014! Can not imagine what the insurance is on the home I sold.
I've lived in Florida since the early 1960's. Florida used to be quite
cheap compared to most metropolitan areas in the country. Over the last
20-30 years, real estate prices in the better coastal cities (and
Orlando) have increased dramatically. My mother bought us, our first
home in a hip area of Ft. Lauderdale, back in 1964, for $11,000. Today,
that same home (renovated) and 2 blocks away from extravagant Las Olas
Blvd. (if you know Ft. Lauderdale) is now worth over $850,000.
I purchased my first home in Sarasota back in 1988. It's was a Florida
Craftsman Bungalow style, and I paid $41,000. Today, that home is worth
about $300,000, but only because it is in a gentrifying area near
downtown Sarasota. Those are extreme examples, but I have seen real
estate prices triple here in Sarasota, for most homes since the 1980's.
As more people relocate to the more sought-after areas of Florida, it
has pushed the prices of real estate to almost un-affordable levels for
the working class folks. In Sarasota, just a basic home will cost $200k
minimum. If you go south to North Port or Port Charlotte, a basic home
will run about $160k and up. A 2 bedroom apartment in Sarasota for rent
is about $1400/month. It might be lower outside the Sarasota city area,
which tends to run about 20% higher than surrounding communities.
Florida has a lot of service-sector jobs, where $12/hour is about
average. So, unless you make a real professional wage, like $25/hour and
up, (and I mean mostly "up"), then Florida could seem quite expensive.
Probably one of the best industries I can think of to work in Florida,
would be healthcare, with the aging population here. If you are coming
from the major cities of the northeast (N.Y., Boston, Philadelphia),
then prices of homes in Florida will seem reasonable. If you're coming
from "flyover country" in the mid-west, or some small town somewhere,
then Florida will seem expensive. If you're coming from a major city in
California, then Florida will seem like an absolute bargain in
comparison.
If you're retired or nearing retirement, and have owned a home up north
that is now worth $800k to over a million dollars, you can sell that
home, move to Florida, and buy a beautiful home in a gated community for
$400,000+ and live the good life with the money left over, and of
course, never have to shovel snow again. Be prepared for population
growth. It is getting crowded down here now!

(6) He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates.[1342] He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses.[1343] That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?

(4) If Allāh had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allāh, the One, the Prevailing.[1340]
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ يُكَوِّرُ ٱلَّيۡلَ عَلَى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ ٱلنَّهَارَ عَلَى ٱلَّيۡلِۖ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ كُلّٞ يَجۡرِي لِأَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۗ أَلَا هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡغَفَّـٰرُ
(5) He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.[1341]

(6) He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates.[1342] He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses.[1343] That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?

I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale and trust and believe me, it's not the same. I bought a house in Boca Raton FL but still time to time go to Fort Lauderdale for a night out with the guys. Miami is such a beautiful place to chill but to live..... no way. As a Floridian listen to the locals on here. If you wanna live good and raise your family in a great community with great schools then you better have a nice career to provide all those things.

As a person who lives in south Florida Miami is a fun place to visit but not living there
You missed Cape Coral for retirement. Most canals and most houses with a canal in the back of the house according to the Guinness Book of Records. It has the lowest crime rate in the USA and is close Fort Myers yet enjoys lower housing costs, lower property taxes and boasts the cleanest air quality in all of the USA. Cape Coral is a boating community and is home to Cape Harbour, a boaters paradise. It is also close to Fort Myers Beach and the incredible islands of Sanibel and Captiva. Easy access to the gulf of Mexico and some of the nicest sunsets. Weather is cooler than the East coast in summer and winter and there are a lot of restaurants. Downtown Cape Coral is going through a revival with renovations and new low rise buildings. Tarpon point and Cape Harbour are beautiful communities that offer world class amenities.

I’m from Fort Walton Beach/Destin and my mom lives in Navarre and I always fly into Pensacola when I come home to visit! I have family in many of these 10 listed areas! I think it’s fantastic for Pensacola to be listed as they are and it is a great place with more jobs available than other surrounding cities. That whole area has been listed at different times on the travel channel as being in the top ten places to live so in my opinion, everyone should be thankful and grateful or leave and go somewhere else and complain about it lol!

Okay I live in Orlando and I have lived here my whole life. Most of what she said is true, but 1) nobody goes to the parks that often unless you are rich and are a pass holder. Yes I go to Disney quite often during the year but the music programs at public High Schools give you free tickets with certain participation. 2) Unless you have a high paying job, Orlando is way too expensive to live in if you want to love in a decent area with low crime. Public Education is AWFUL so if you have children it is not the best place for them long term in terms of education. 3) Orlando started getting way too full in around 2014 and it gets worse every day. My family recently moved to St. Cloud, FL to escape the traffic and the saturation. I love FL and I think it is a beautiful and fun place to live in but Orlando is not worth it. There are so many other places in FL still developing that are peaceful and have less people. That being said, if you like crowds and always doing something, Orlando will offer that for you. There is always something to do in Orlando and places to go.

The best city in Florida in my opinion is the beach town of Stuart on mid Atlantic coast--Its a very clean town that doesn't allow high rises higher than 4 stories. Traffic isn't bad at all and it has some top golf courses and excellent shopping and restaurants. It also has excellent hospitals. It has a laid back old Florida feel with great fishing- known as the sailfish Capital of the world. I had a condo on the beach in Stuart for 15 years but then being single after my husband passed away I needed some action and moved to Hollywood Beach. I wouldn't raise a family in Hollywood beach but it's the best place to be for a perpetual vacation with their 3 mile long boardwalk beautiful beach restaurants and Margaritaville right on the boardwalk. Much better than crowded Miami!

E Wright We had to move away, but I had it planned since the late 1990’s. I worked as a LEO and retired at 53, packed up and headed north. St Lucie has really turned out to be a GREAT area. Cost of living is cheaper than other areas we looked. We couldn’t move earlier because us both have a State of Fl Pension so had to wait. But I grew up down there and it breaks my heart what Miami and Ft Laud have become.
