Which Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 AWD Chassis to get? Brushed or VXL version

    VXL systems are good for most getting started in rc and want a fast car. Hardly any return rate, they take abuse pretty well, and its maintenance free (maybe oil the bearing once in a while) Traxxas lipo batteries and chargers on the other hand are not advised! Very problematic with their chargers especially the rtr chargers, their ID system is weird, and their 25C lipos puff routinely. The return rate on traxxas batts and chargers is why we dont sell them. VXL's like at least a 50C as they are a hungery system and discharge rate is key to not only performance but making sure all the components of that system are fed properly and arent stressed.

      It is my favorite RTR TC. I agree about the batteries because Traxxas packas are all soft packs. I only run hard packs now. Long ago I had some Traxxas soft pack and any hard crash would make a soft pack start puffing a bit.

    I believe the compound is different on the older VXL tire as it needed to be beefier to withstand the VXL power. Dont think they were belted but compound/construction if i remember right

      😎 Nice. I do like rollers. Then one can just pick and chose electronics depending on one's intended use. I may look for another one 🤣... I do like the 2.0 platform.

    I have the 4tec 2.0 brushless chassis with a corvette body on it, ran it with the high speed gearing and hit a top speed of 68mph, I would suggest better tires out of the gate, stock tires tend to fishtail and spin out in turns

      I appreciate you mentioning the basics and that it is a 2.0. The tires are a little harder compound 🤔 for my 2.0 speed runs I actually went with a 1900mm body and belted TC tires, but I cannot remember the brand and model. Let me know if you have a tire preference.

      @@telecomandorc I run Xceed 45mm foam tires after getting some advice from a friend, I don’t own many street cars.

    do you know if the dboot hoon 57/107 tires will fit on this car with the hex adapters? I have these tires already, and knowing about the shotty traxxas tires, I want to know that the tires I have will be fit on this car

      Those are 107mm vs the stock 66mm. You could fit them in the rear, but it will probably rub in the front when steering. The front end on the 2.0 is the the same as the 3.0 and the 3.0 has 76mm. And those are tight. If it is for speed runs... I guess steering is not a big deal.

    Here is a question and i think it’s a good question for you, why do you think Traxxas never lets us know what amp there esc are? It’s kinda weird right?

      👏 Great questions... and yes, I agree it is weird.
      It may be for branding and brand loyalty. People will buy the branded products to keep everything "uniform" or "homogeneous". I think more people would purchase Hobbywing EzRun systems over VXL systems, for example, if numbers where publish on the VXL.
      They do the same with nitro. Don't get me wrong... I like the TRX 3.3 engine, but ST makes more powerful engines. The point is that the TRX 3.3 was advertised as having more power under the curve than the previous 2.5 and was advertised using a graph with two lines that showed a significant difference in power but no numbers to make it work anything other than a marketing tool 😂.
      That is probably why, going back to electronics, Traxxas uses voltage capacity (2s or 3s) and theoretical speeds with footnotes. 🤷🏻‍♂️maybe.

      @@telecomandorc thanks for response, yea i get what your saying about Traxxas with nitro, i was into nitro heavy back in the late 90’s early -to mid 2000’s worked in a hobby shop for over 10yr doing repairs & upgrades . 24yr auto technician for Lexus/Toyota. It’s very frustrating that Traxxas does things for just marketing when there are people out here that want to know more. Your also right a lot Traxxas customer will just stick to the vxl system to keep everything uniformed. Most brands are like that. I do personally like hobby wing products as well

      @@vitodambra72 You are completely right about the frustration. The wort thing is that some brands can also become a money pit for new hobbyist do to the lack of information as you have emphasized. I don't even want to know how many people drop out of the hobby due to this.
