Aw, having seen the other clips, she really must have got along well with her grandmother since she's so proficiently bilingual and trying to get her family to work better at understanding each other's languages.

Haha, this same thing happened in the US for decades. Kids are 1.5 / 2nd generation and speak English fluently. Parents don't speak English well. Kids speak Korean "ok".
In the US, parents will talk in Korean and the kids speak back in half English / half Korean.

That’s bad parenting, I don’t believe the parents should learn Korean SOLEY to talk to the younger daughter. The parents should learn Korean to help them acclimate to South Korean society. The youngest daughter should know Russian just as fluently as the older daughter. This is why it’s so important to put your kids in a dual language school in South Korea, it also helps combat bullying. The parents should’ve put both daughters in Korean Nursery School, then an English kindergarten, and lastly a dual-language Russian to Korean elementary school. You can find multi-language institutions near military bases that have schools and cultural centers. There are many specialized foreign schools or international schools that teach foreign languages daily in the curriculum and have after school clubs that speak exclusively in that language. If anything the two daughters should have been in triweekly Russian classes at that cultural center they go to. There the youngest daughter would have meet other Russian & Koryoin kids to make friends with naturally becoming bilingual. you have to be intentional when raising multilingual children.

Korean isn't a UN language, so who needs to study Korean?

It's a business language, just like Japanese in the 1980s. There are lots of Korean companies making deals nowadays.

If you take your kids to Korea it helps to speak Korean, especially if your own kid can't speak anything else 🙄
