- A full recreation of "Tom's Story" from the meta mind-bending masterpiece House of Leaves, featuring full sound design for all scenes.
House of Leaves is book that defies the conventions of normal tales, a mixture of supernatural horror, critical analysis and explorations of the psychological across multiple narrators that challenges to reader to navigate a literal labyrinth that affects the book itself as much as the titular house. To take on a challenge such as this, I ultimately had to choose to focus on only one of those narratives, but I highly encourage you to read the book yourself to get the full impact of what this story tells us.
The scene I chose to recreate is taken from a transcript of an event during "The Navidson Record", a collection of recordings made into a film about the Navidson house, whose true nature is left ambiguous to the point that it may not even be real. With the potential for atmosphere and character performance from this section alone, I hope that you enjoy this little slice into the workings of a house whose insides are definitely bigger than the outside would suggest.

House of Leaves is by far my favorite book that ive ever had the privilege of reading. It's terrifying, heart shattering and overall captivating. To see someone I'm subscribed to making content for this masterpiece, warms my heart and reignites my love for it all over again. You'll never forget your first visit to the house on Ash Tree Lane.
Originally thought this was about Tom trench but when I watched and realised that it was based of a novel I knew I had to read it, I have now bought the book and began reading it, wish me luck 😂👍
Sorry I couldn’t make the premiere but holy shit…that was fucking awesome.
The story had me feeling more and more on edge as it progressed. I had no idea what to expect, which added to the edge. The static left me anxious as it interfered with Navy’s messages. Left me wanting to know what he was trying to say, while also dreading it. As I am unfamiliar with this novel, it certainly wants me to give it a read.
The sound design is impeccable as always. The echoing and constant silence, the darkness hinting at something that could be lurking, adding to the panic and growing paranoia. The ending especially got me, the abrupt stop to it all felt like a bungee cord pulling me back before falling too far.
The voice acting was amazing as well! You and Riot did a swell job as your characters! The emotions felt so raw and real, I could almost feel what they were feeling in those moments. The need and want to run, the dread of going down the stairs, the fear of what’s going on in the environment. I felt a part of the story.

this was insanely well done! i always get blown away by the amount of detail on your sound designs and this one isnt any different. im not familiar with house of leaves but watching this had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. you and cycoriot are such talented voice actors and its absolutely nutty to listen to. excellent job as always! i cant wait to see your next project!
This is absolutely bonkers; I was completely sucked into the story, even without actually seeing the characters!! And this being a tension scare instead of a jump scare is the cherry on top!! The sound design was so immersive, I legit feel like I’ve stumbled on to Tom’s tapes! Yet another amazing job!!
I was given a copy of House of Leaves years ago and I've always wanted to read it, but have never gotten around to it. But that was Fantastic, and now I think I'm finally going to dig into it. Thank you for that! Amazing work as always!

I imagined a Tom a with a lower voice, but I was quickly sold on this interpretation! I’ll definitely be hearing both your Tom and your Will as I re-read the book this summer for my project.
Also Cycoriat did amazingly as well! They portrayed Karen’s emotions (her fear of being alone and losing control) and her subsequent breakdown PERFECTLY. Their sobs made me automatically tear up while at the same time your stellar sound design (with that inhuman crooning rising in volume in the background?) made my body tense up.
I also love the white noise ambiance you’ve created for the house. It sounds oppressive and vast in all the right ways. The stairs stretching at the end made me shiver as the sound added a layer of horror that text on a page can’t convey.
I would love to see more on House of Leaves from you! (Maybe what Will got up to during all this 👀? That sequence does get pretty intense)
This video is the reason why I read the book, and was one of the best book I have read in a long time. Started last winter and was so confusing , and fascinated by it. It’s nice to have someone share something and for others to take an interest.

You can hear how angry and broken he is. The way he snarls at his family and friends as they break down makes it clear that there's more than one monster down there now.
This is incredibly fascinating. I've never read or even heard of House of Leaves, but now I'm putting it on my reading list. You and everyone involved do an excellent job of creating such a suspenseful and strange atmosphere.

HOL is quite the experience... It's not your regular book. The way the pages are and how it tells the story tho are great fun if a little confusing at times.

Your work in sound design is incredible! Seriously, from the footsteps, to the glowstick, to the groaning of the stairs, it felt like I was listening to an audiobook. This was a fantastic way to learn about this book and what it has to offer and I mayyy be buying it now to read during my vacation coming up :)
