John wrote this wonderful song and Glenn made it famous, but if I had to listen to it all day I would want Lucinda singing it. Just my opinion 👍👍

man, I'm a huge fan of John Hartford but i'm with you here, LU just somehow takes it deeper, even more closer to home (even if she drops the 3rd verse)

Its beautiful lyrically and the melancholy of it , the bittersweet way she sings this songs is very good . I love g Campbell's version best but I always love Lucinda. She has tones in her voice that quietly ,and with subtlety convey emotion usually sadness. But its it's great
      she sings

This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I don’t know what it is about her voice, the words, the melody...it’s just so intensely sad to me, but so beautiful. The original is good, but way more twangy, doesn’t quite hit my ear the same as this version and with her haunting voice.

    • @davidpilgrim3455

Couldn't agree more. Glenn Campbell is great, but Lucinda crushed this song. Also, the instrumental arrangement is incredible. I could listen to this version on repeat for hours and just get lost in it.
