  • Chevy doesn’t make it easy to connect a brake controller to the 2nd Gen Traverse. Here’s a video showing where I found the wires.

      Glad it helped! I spent hours looking as well so I decided to make a video to hopefully help others.

    Thank You! I needed this for my 2018 Traverse. After all that, I think i've decided on the CURT bluetooth module instead. Wife is happy with no dashboard install.

      @@skymountainfarm 1 year later still going strong. Has worked very well for us. I towed a combined 22 hours this summer with no problems. I had to learn the right order of operations. First plug the module to car wait 8 seconds then plug 7 pin connector from trailer. Wait till light turns solid green. Otherwise module doesn't calibrate properly and our brakes would be way too sensitive.

      Hey anddtayl1, did you get a signal off of the white/blue brake switch cable off of your 2018. I am trying to wire my brake controller up and the +12 is good but no signal on the brake switch wire?

      @skymountainfarm  Před 3 lety

      david danchise do you have the car running and measuring voltage across the blue/white and ground while pressing the brake pedal?

    Thanks so much for your video. I haven't been able to get the info from my chevy dealer. Is the color coding for the 4 Traverse wires as you originally reported? Red with blue stripe = 12 volt battery; black = ground; white with blue stripe = brake light; solid blue = brake?

    Thanks for the video. Everything went exactly like your video. Unfortunately, I have the same problem as Michael McCollough. No power to the brake signal when the brakes are pressed. I also have a 2019 traverse bought summer 2019. Maybe GM has skipped some connection somewhere, who knows. I guess will be running a wire to the back brake lights if I don't find out something soon.

      Did you ever figure out how to get the white/blue stripe wire brake signal wire working?

    What did you measure on the brake signal wire white/blue?

    • @skymountainfarm
      @skymountainfarm  Před 3 lety +1

      I started the car and measured the voltage across the white/blue and ground. Didn’t pay much attention to the numbers. Just made sure that the voltage increased as I pressed harder on the brake.

      @@skymountainfarm took the traverse to a shop and they couldn't get a signal off of the brake switch. All 9 wires didnt give us a signal for the brakes to activate from the pedal?? It all works but only when you manually use the brake controller?? Any thoughts?

    • @skymountainfarm
      @skymountainfarm  Před 4 lety

      Michael McCollough that’s weird that everything works except for the brake signal. I put a volt meter on the brake signal wire and watched the voltage go up, as I applied the brakes. I’m not sure where the signal wire comes from but you might have to chase it back to see if there is a loose connection.

    Anyone find the 12 volt power under the hood that they say needs to be connected?
    "The electric brake controller should be installed by your dealer or qualified service center. If equipped, there are four blunt cut wires inside the front driver side instrument panel. It will be necessary to have a technician connect the 12-volt power to the engine compartment fuse block"
