Hi everyone...... It's been a while.
Did you're 2023 GOTY make this rundown? What did we miss? Please let us know down there in the comments.
Glad you're back!!!
I thought you got old and gave up on gaming. 🤣🤣🤣
Very happy to see Cocoon on the list. It and Armored Core 6 were my favourite games last year.
I LOVED JUSANT. I hope they make a sequel. Id put it above every other title on this list. One game you missed, not sure if its indie, was HUMANITY. TRINE 5 and BRAMBLE were also really cool. Kinda suprised you didnt add VIEWFINDER which was awesome!
Chants of Sennaar and The Wreck would be the omission I can think of
When the world needed him most... he returned. Great to see you all back again! Birth is a must-play for me, now. I didn't even know it existed!
Birth is very under loved. Many thanks for the kind words.
Let me second your statement @grahammartin5491 - this is one of the few channels I actually missed!
Just some 2023 games on my personal indie list in no particular order. Slay the Princess, Chants of Sennar, Cantata, Viewfiner, Above Snakes, Terra Nil, Power of Ten, Mortal Sin, and The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood.
Thanks for sharing your picks, there are some really stylish games among them that I hadn't heard about yet like Cantata, Power of Ten and Mortal Sin 👌
Welcome back! Glad to see this 2023 wrap-up and I hope this is the beginning of more new content.
Really happy to have you back!!
It´s always a joy to see a GIG video on my feed. Always finding new gems I would´ve never heard of otherwise. This past 2023 year of indie was amazing, I bet it was hard to cut it down to just 10.
I, personally, I´m quite surprised to not see Have a Nice Death make the top 10. Art direction is fantastic, characters are lovely, and gameplay loop is simple but effective.
if you're looking for more indies, I just did a video about 45 of them from 2023.
You're back! I missed your videos so much!
I wanna mention three other amazing indies that were not on your list but were my favorites last year: Blasphemous 2, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood and Sludge Life 2.
We missed you man. Much love!
Was worried this channel had gone dark😅, glad to see you back 😸😸
Thank you. More to come with at least weekly content. I'm hoping to hit 4pm each Wednesday.
What a nice surprise, Thought you had called it a day for good this time around. Will enjoy this. :)
Thank you. We’re back this time with regular content. Life changes have freed up time we had lost. Looking forward to getting back on top of things.
@@GetIndieGaming I'm sorry to sound negative, as I very much enjoy your content and was many times excited about your announced returns, what makes this time different from last 3 times you announced to be back only within last year?
@@rokokovac581 I'm no longer under a NDA and no compete clause.
Good to have you back!
Ahhhh!! Im SO happy you are back. Just the other day I looked at your channel hoping for a new video and here we are! Hope you've been well and welcome back. Great list also.
Many thanks. That’s very kind of you to say so.
Welcome back! Great to see you back!
Amazing to see you back. Looking forward to more of your videos. Completed Dredge, Jusant, Cocoon. Loved how Dordogne looks. Have to definitely play that and Sea of Stars too. Currently playing Cassette Beasts. It is absolutely brilliant and I think it deserves a mention.
Welcome back! Thank you for the recommendations :).
Its great to you back again. I hope you can come out with content regularly.
Great to have you back!
always happy to see a new post from you!
Thank God you're back! I've been floundering finding indie games
Always happy to see a new video from you.
My tops included Viewfinder, Cocoon, and Worldless.
And I cant wait for Pepper Grinder, SCHiM, The Plucky Squire, and THRASHER!
Wordless. I missed that one. Many thanks for the suggestion.
Oh hey! Get Indie Gaming's back!
For as much as I loved the journey of Tears of the Kingdom, the one game I played in 2023 that I could not stop raving about to anyone who would listen was Sea of Stars, so it is a joy to see it top your list as well. It's strongly worth mentioning that folks who have played The Messenger first will get a tremendous added layer of enjoyment out of Sea of Stars because both take place in the same universe, and the connections between the two games in terms of lore and even some elements of level design are some of the most brilliant I have ever experienced in a game. (Playing The Messenger first is not required to enjoy Sea of Stars fully, but I would say if one does not do so, one will miss out on all of that -- although you *could* play Sea of Stars first and *then* play the Messenger and perhaps have the same enjoyment the other way around, so-to-speak). Sea of Stars also bears some of its best fruit if one bothers to 100% the game as the rewards the player gets for going the extra mile are also some of the most substantial I have seen in a game in quite some time.
Nice to see you back! I didn't play many games that were released in 2023, the one I did enjoy was Moonstone island
Nice list, a few I've never heard of. Thank you!
Welcome back! I hope you'll get the chance to work on more of these amazing videos! Truly appreciate them
Wow! Many thanks for this and the kind words. Really appreciate it. :)
It's great to see you return. Thanks for the list of recommendations, I'd only heard of about half of those. I've played few new games last year so I have few to choose from, but I really recommend Stray Gods.
Glad to know that you come back!
Nice picks as always. Birth and Saltsea Chronicles were in my top 5 as well with Mediterranea inferno, Videoverse and The Wreck.
Welcome back
Thank you for those suggestions. I'll need to go check them out. Cheers!
Absolutely love hearing your recommendations they are so nusnced and help me find out about true indie gems.
great to see that you're back! love your work!
Nice to hear your voice. The indie scene really needs quality content like yours. Cheers :)
Thank you kindly!
Happy to see a new video and apparently more content in the near future!
One question though, is it possible to watch more previous livestreams than only the current four that are available through 'Live' and the 'Past Live Stream' playlist (26 videos are set on hidden)?
Sadly due to contractual obligations, which explains my absence here, I am not able to have those streams live. I'm not able to talk about this further.
Welcome back :) Thanks for the list! Two recommendations from me when it comes to 2023 indies: Meg's Monster and A Space For the Unbound. Especially the latter one. It was beautiful, it made me cry, then made me cry more.
A space for the Unbound!! Damn that is a great game! Thanks for the Meg's Monster suggestion too.
So marvelous that you're back! This is my favorite CZcams channel on indie-gaming, and I love the sound of your elegant voice and the literary textures in your monologues. I hope you commit to being more regular on this channel, as you deserve to have a central podium in this ever-growing world of artsy gaming. I guess there seems to be some debate about "Dave the Diver" being an indie-game, but I would have loved to see it on the list anyways and hear your thoughts on it. Additionally, I would love you to do a throwback on my favorite game I played for 2023, "A Short Hike," which came out in 2019, but deserves a gander by you. It was totally under the radar but it popped into my gaze from a random CZcams day of surfing.
We now have the space and time for a weekly video each Wednesday. Appreciate the kind feedback.
Eastward DLC and Get Indie Gaming video release on the same day, gotta say, yesterday was the best day of 2024 for me since school has been pretty stressful lately.
Thanks!
Thaaankss!!!! I've been expecting your top games!!! Your teste is unique!!!
What a nice way to start February! Glad to see you again!
Great recommendations in this one. I'm always late to most releases, thanks to a ridiculous backlog, but I'm looking to try at least Jusant and Coccon this year. Hope I can find the time.
The quantity of indie games are increasing exponentially, so channels like yours are pure gold.
"A highland song" and " birth" intrigued me the most.
Thank you for your good taste selection. Hope you ok. Best regards!! 👍
So happy your back! 🎉
Since you enjoyed Sea of Stars, check out Chained Echoes, if you haven't yet. It came out at the end of 2022, so it didn't get any awards, but it still performed very well in terms of sales and it's well on its way to becoming a cult classic. It's also another game created by a single developer, except for the music. In my opinion it's a more refined experience than Sea of Stars, even if I prefer its pixel art style.
From 2023 I'd also highlight The Last Spell, Meg's Monster, Viewfinder, World of Horror, Cassette Beasts, Chants of Sennaar, Blasphemous 2, Thirsty Suitors, Planet of Lana and Ugly.
Thanks for these suggestions. Really appreciate it.
the recommendations are delightful and i never stop finding amazing games to play here. keep it up
Glad you like them!
Feels so good to have you back and watching a video of you. Thanks mate. 🙂
My pleasure -- very happy to be able to post again here. We're looking at weekly videos each Wednesday.
@@GetIndieGaming take the time do you need, the subscription on your channel stays forever. 😄
I DONT BELIEVE IT. We missed you! Happy new year!
omg you back!
after 8 months!
I was just recently considering dropping the channel in my dust folder
dayum just in time
glad to see you back. hope you can keep doing what you love and enjoy life while doing it. all the best!
So happy to see you back!!! You were the only channel I had a sub to and I was always hoping to come back and see new content! You always have great recommendations, delivery, and variety in what you suggest so I was so so sooo happy to see you back.
Thank you. That really is very kind.
So happy to have you back! 👍I really appreciate that you spread the love across many different genre's. Great work once again.
Thank you. Means allot.
Great to see you back again. Have a great new year ahead
Thanks, you too!
Glad to see you're back! This channel is my number one source for indie news!
Was eagerly looking forward for you to drop this video ❤
Hope you enjoyed it. Many thanks for the feedback and Kind words.
i am so happy to have you back man
We missed you man.
Good you have you back 💯👍🏻
I appreciate that, I really do. Many thanks..
He's back, wooooooooo :)
Birth looks really cool, reminds me of the Rusty Lake Escape Room games
Dordogne looks amazing, never thought you'd be able to properly render that kind of art style in a 3D environment.
A Highland Song I find to be a bit frustrating with its navigation. I'm never sure where I am or if I'm going the right way, but I'm taking my time with it so I make sure I'm still enjoying myself.
Jusant is similar in that the climbing mechanics haven't really clicked with me, but I think I'm getting there.
It's good to hear that Seas of Stars isn't too hard, one of the reasons I didn't go for it was because I thought people saying it's a love letter to JRPGs meant it was stupid hard, because that's been my (limited) experience.
Kept checking your channel, glad you back
My maaaaan! been waiting for your videos! glad to have you back Get Indie! :D
Wow that voice, what a throwback to better days. The best channel in indie news is back.
10 absolute bangers! Love your content so much ❤
What a lovely surprise! Welcome back!
Never even heard of Jusant, exactly what I’m looking for, thanks!
Welcome back mate, and thanks for the video. Great list! 👌🏻
I was expecting to see a boomer shooter title as well. we had a couple of good boomer shooters in 2023. I personally enjoyed playing warhammer 40k: Boltgun, HROT and Turbo Overkill.
damn been a while i didnt see one of your videos, always a good surprise keep it up brother.
Glad to see you back :)
Many thanks - that's very kind of you to say so.
Positive surprise. I have been waiting for this video since the end of December, there was nothing on the channel for more than half a year. I already thought that the channel had been abandoned. I've found a few new sites about indies, but your materials, especially the tops are among my favorites.
if you're looking for more indies, I just did a video about 45 of them from 2023.
OMG, so glad that you are still around mate!
Back after a looooong time. We're looking at weekly uploads on Wednesdays. Thanks for the support.
Great to have you back mate best indie channel in my opinion. I really enjoyed bramble the mountain king last year i recommend anyone giving it a go.
Bramble is so, so good!
We're glad you're back
Glad that you come back! All I want is Pepper Grinder and Silksong 😭
I’m doing a “my most wanted of 2024” video at the moment. It will come out next Wednesday. I’m bound to talk about Silksong :)
You are the best narrator on CZcams. It’s so good it seems like AI.
Thank you - I'm very much flesh and bone.
I would have been extremely surprised if Sea of Stars wasn't here on the list, lol. Personal favorite game of the year here as well, otherwise only played older (indie) games, I think.
Putting a few of these on the wishlist. Birth and Dordogne seem like my jam and Cocoon peaks my interest as well. Good list!
My fav youtuber He IS BACK with that soothing voice!!!!!!
He's back! Glad to see you well again! Here's to a great 2024!
As always, thanking you muchly.
Thanks for another great roundup. Love the presentation style - well written and articulate 👍☺️ Just need to find time for all these 😢
That's very kind of you. Many thanks.
So happy to see you back! Please don’t leave us in 2024! 🙏🏻
Too many pure narrative experiences on this list I think.
My favorite and most played Indie was Patch Quest. It is so well done and by a single developer. Plus couch co op meant my daughter and I put hours into it. That made it more special.
The excitement of seeing a new video on this channel!!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Hello! Good to hear you!
I like that you mentioned Dordogne. You mentioned last year, how close to the soul the game is for you since it brings back nostalgic memories.
That's very true. It brought back so many happy memories of my childhood and early teenage years. A few folks have said I've been too quick to negate the games flaws. That said, I adore it, even with its faults.
Love to see a Birth shoutout! That made my top ten :)
Fab game, isn't it. Wish it had more love.
The Man. The Myth. The Legend! Glad your back!
You are too kind. Many thanks.
A list for the people a list for the gamers....good to see u back ! What a great year 23 was for indies
As others have said, great to have you back, been far too long frankly. Here's hoping for more content from you in 2024!!!
Weekly on Wednesdays. Many thanks for the kind feedback.
Finally....he is back on track! What happened man? One of your oldest Greek subs here!
Thank you!
Welcome back, you've been missed!
There he is. We missed ya. I only played Dredge out of all of these. It’s really good. Definitely up there. I want to play Salt sea Chronicles next. I loved Mutzione so I’m sure I’ll love it.
Seasalt Chronicles is superb. I'm sure you will really enjoy it if you liked Mutatzione.
@@GetIndieGaming Good to hear from ya. Thank you. I’ll keep you in mind when I play it
Thanks for this video ✌️
My pleasure 😊
The man, the myth, and the dang legend himself! Happy to see this upload! Amazing video and the top 5 are all truly beautiful games! Amazing selections!
I want to add a few more for me here:
1) 9 Years A Shadow
2) Shadow Gambit
3) Sanabi
4) Pesticide Not Required (beta stage/ trial download)
5) Backpack Hero
Thanking you! Fab additions too.
There are many channels I watch that spotlight indie games. But Get Indie Gaming is definitely my favourite.
Thank you. We've been away for so long. Many thanks for coming back.
Great list! Where would place Dave the Diver?
I’m not sure given who made it the game is indie. Still. It’s a fab game that’s for sure.
Bold is the creator who opts for a single annual release cycle. I hope you and your family are all doing well.
To be fair, we didn't do a GOTY video last year. We're back and aiming for weekly videos.
@@GetIndieGaming To be clear, I was just kidding. I'll take whatever content you wish to make on whatever timetable you want.
Warm welcomes back!
Awesome to see Birth on this list. Great underrated indie game.
Hugely underrated.
Excellent list. Apparently Dordogne got an update so it’s not such a pain to platinum. Perhaps there are some honorable mentions in Viewfinder, Gibbon, and Chants of Sennaar!
You're back!!! Yaaaay!
Where did you get that Sea of Stars thumbnail from? That would look sick as a wallpaper!
Here you go. I have had a little play around with the colouring. staticg.sportskeeda.com/editor/2023/08/8e56a-16932884440752-1920.jpg
Yes he's back!!! Even if you retire, you are obligated to make an annual best games list!
I'm super happy to be back. I'm looking to do a weekly video on a Wednesday. Many thanks for the kind words.
I can’t get into Sea of Stars’ story at all, feels really generic but the rest of the package is charming, they really nailed the modern retro look
Venba deserves more exposure.
It's an utter delight. I pop back and play it often.
Cocoon was an absolutely phenomenal game, so damn good. Same with Dredge and Jusant.
For me last year was a tie between Roots of Pacha and your pick Sea of Stars. Going through the whole story of Sea of Stars is really unparalleled despite how easy the battles were, and the gameplay of Roots of Pacha is the closest I've found to scratching the stardew valley itch, but it's still its own game!
Thanks for the Roots of Pacha suggestion. I'll take a look over that this coming weekend.
@@GetIndieGaming awesome! I hope you enjoy it 😁. It really surprises me how much it gets overlooked since it really is a great game!
