I think the 489/496 combo is a killer bang-for-the-buck setup on the street. With a little more compression (say 9 or 10 to 1) and E85, you could easily make 1,000 hp+ with 7-9 pounds of boost. It would probably run forever too.

How would you run a blower with a tunnelram? Would you use two blowers/turbos with blow through carb hats; or two throttle bodies on a big plenum employing EFI (kind of like on the Hell Cat only going up through the hood instead of using an old school cross ram)?

Hey Mr holdner do you still have those cross ram LS intakes? I'd love too see what the power numbers specifically the low end power numbers on a 4.8/5.3 with the truck Norris, I'd love to see the aftermarket and more people use them they're a very interesting manifold style to say none the less, those long intake runners could be a saving grace for 4.8 owners

Hey Richard... a while back I made a comment about a big block chevy motor I got from the junk yard... it was out of a propane delivery truck... I said it was a 502 and everyone said it wasn't... it was a mark 5 tall deck 502 they put them in Kodiak 6500 mid 90s heavy work trucks... the block numbers even identified it as a 502... can you look into finding one and boost it please 🙏

What if the 496 compression ratio of 8 to 1 was raised to 10 to 1, so more power normally aspirated. Would the final boost pressure be even less than the 8 to 1 run? Where is the sweet spot on compression ratio vs boost/timing on pump gas?

It will take about 21 pounds off boost to get 1000 hp from a 454. So e85 is the way to go. And its cheaper then gasoline. It will take more fuel per gallon but think of all the advantages. No intercooler, great, very little turbo lag. With expensive heads the power numbers won't jump dramatically. Not worth the money either.
