- Stasis dermatitis is a common skin condition affecting those with pitting oedema of the legs. Another name for stasis dermatitis is venous eczema. The pitting oedema of the subcutaneous tissue is not good for the skins health and leads to a dermatitis forming. This is whats called stasis dermatitis. It can look extremely angry and t is sometimes misdiagnosed by junior doctors as “bilateral cellulitis”. It is extremely difficult to treat. Moisturisers will help and it sometimes responds to steroids. However the best treatment is to reduce the pitting oedema which is causing it. Diuretics are used to do this. They are quite hit and miss. Sometimes the effect is huge. In other case their effect is minimal.

Previously I had lost 40 lbs and was down to 191 now im back to 220 :( long story short ive always had some edema on my lower legs but just this week it got really bad enough that my feet were swollen and my ankles bones cant feel them. I think i have this condition or just developed it
Yes, but can it be cured? ..........I'm fed up with walking around with red scaly legs.
Yes, if you have an Endovenous Duplex Vein Mapping Scan and incompetent veins are identified there are procedure that can cure or at least HUGELY improve venous incompetence.
Physcian or mathematician?!
Help how to cure statis dermatitis
If it is caused by incompetent veins and the underlying cause is treated then yes it can be cured or hugely improved. The secret is finding the right vein experts.
