The first time I saw a crafter use a “glue book,” I was horrified! I hardly have any book pages; they’re like gold to me! 😳😜 so I really appreciate your taking the time to show me what happens to the discarded pages. I feel much better knowing they happily live on as something beautiful. ❤
Hello my name is Freida. I thought I would let you know how I get books cheaply. Our library has a book sale twice a year. The opening days they are still cheap but if you wait to the last day you can get a plastic bag full for a dollar. Where my kids live in Wyoming their last day all books are free. So call your local library ask them about book sales. That way you will have lots of covers for future journals and lots of pages to use for collage and to add as pages to your signatures. I hope this helps you😊
I go to the Salvation Army & they have paperback books for a dollar. I find the biggest, fattest book I can find to use as my glue books. Our Dollar Tree also has books for $1.25 too. The library’s book sales are also good.
Thank you to the viewer who requested this topic! Gayle, I’ve been following you for a few years now and still love episodes like this. You are such an inspiration to all crafters, newbies to the most experienced crafters, and this video is no exception! Such fun! ❤
Gayle, your self talk cracks me up..."I'm working here right by myself." I enjoy your channel so much with your quirkiness and creativity. Thanks for sharing bits of you!
You making things to help those just learning is such a blessing. It may help bring back some ideas for us that have been doing it for awhile. Thank you.
In addition to what Gayle has shown, I put my glue pages on top of one another until I have about 4 stuck together really good. I use my circle punches and make the little buttons for coin pockets, faux buttons, faux wax seals for envelopes, and I sometimes use the circles the way whale tales are used as tag pulls. I use them for excess paint depositories, too. “Painty papers” have any number of uses! I love, love, love the look of book pages used in any way. They’re neutral so they look good with just about anything.
I consider this video as a gentle reminder to use what's at hand. They turned out so lovely, it makes us want to do them too 😁 We're due a cold day after a week of 70-80 degree weather, I would be happy to get back on track with 50-60 degree temps. It is only April. Poor Gaia is so confused. Or maybe it's just us, stuck in our ideas of what it should be. Maybe Gaia is like us and uses whatever is available, just to keep the world spinning. Sending you and Mike & Gaia Love & Hugs 🤗
I love how you are so willing and kind to take us back to the basics. Newbies are so fortunate if and when they watch your videos. I’ve only been making journals for about a year, but I’ve learned so much from you. Thanks for all you do, Gayle. Stay warm. It’s going to be in the 90’s this week. 😮
Yet another episode of raking some utilitarian and turning it into beautiful, cute, scrummy pieces of usefulness. I am always learning from you, which is why I have a bin of folded glue pages sitting behind me on the shelf ready for inspiration such as this. Thank you, sweet Gayle. ❤ Belinda xxx
We can see it, and see it again. If we've seen it once, twice or 200 times, review is always good. We het new ideas from your idea fountain! TFS Gayle and hope you get some sunshine and warmer temps! Blessings!
Morning Gayle! I thought about you yesterday while I was gluing stuff because you were the first person I ever saw use book innards for gluing on. But shame on me, I tossed the used pages into the trash. I know I know. 😮 I did feel guilty. So I'm heading down to the craftroom right now to retrieve them to make tags and belly bands. Thanks for the reminder that everything can be junk journal supplies and for the great ideas you shared today. Cheers from Denver CO!
Gayle, I have been watching you for a few years, and I am amazed at how clearly you explain things, and how many different creativities you function in I hope that makes sense. Thanks for being your delightfully fun self!
I'm so glad that person asked because you have given me a few more ideas on what to make with glue book pages. I have used them for tags and journal cards but not the variations you have shown. Ihave been watching journal making videos for about a year now but only making them for about 6 months. Very helpful thanks. And I love Rachels printables too.😃
Thank you for revisiting a basic skill to junk journaling. I always learn something new whatever you do! Maybe once a month you could do a “Back to Basic tip” for newbies. Just something to mull over. Lol Have a blessed day!
Gayle, thanks for this video for the newbie JJ crafter. Always nice to welcome and help someone new to our community. When I first found you, I absorbed as much info as I could, hoping this was something I might enjoy doing. Now, years later, I have been able to gift a number of journals to friends or those I feel might enjoy them. Cards, too. (AND I follow your tutorials and am a diehard fan). In fact I will be doing 2 cards today, one for a friend going thru chemo and another for my chorus director’s birthday tomorrow. You are good people, Miss Gayle. Be well and craft on! 💕💕💕
I’m very new to this and love making the junk journals but am always searching youtube for ideas to decorate with, so thank you for sharing your talents with us!
Happy Sunday sis! Another sleepless night, so glad I have you to keep me company. Time to see what fun things we will be making! Have a blessed day! Love you sis! ❤
Thanks for taking us back to the basics, and reminding us what we can do with these pages. 💖 I think you taught that to me do these back in the day! I still go back and review your video's to get reminders - all the time! Great tutorial! TFS - Crafty Hugs, Christal
AWESOME video! Once I told my family I was interested in old books I received far too many from relatives who passed, library sales, and industrious decluttering. Some of the books are so old that they are brittle and crumble if folded. I'm still not sure what to do with those. But now I have an endless supply of backing materials thanks to your ideas!
An idea for you…collage on the brittle pages as the whole page then cut it into journal cards, pockets or tags. No folding needed! Collage pretty papers on the front and writing paper on the back will strengthen the “base” underneath. ❤
Thank you for your video. I am new to the paper crafting. It’s great to pick up so many tips. Every video I watch I always pick up tips and ideas. . I’m so hooked .
Those double belly bands would be a great way to use your bigger cut outs/stickers that are hard to get rid of. Half on the top and half on the bottom.
Hi Gayle. I have been watching your videos for a few months and wondered what those glue pages were used for. Thank you for the explanation and terrific examples of how to utilize them!😊
Thank You, so much, Gayle!! Yes, I'm definitely a Newby, and love learning the journal world. I've scrapbooked for 20+ years, but crossing over! HA! This is awesome, andcso helpful. I had this stsck and you had said to save them. Glad I did! You rocked it, Gayle. Thanks again! ❤😊
Thank you. I am a beginner, and I love how you teach. You were recommended by Ceri the crafter. He thinks highly of you, and I can understand why. You are great. Thank you again
Just love the way you put the pockets and tag’s together. Such a great eye for what goes together. So lovely. I have learned so much from watching your videos. I watch every day. I have made 3 books and am trying to introduce them in my area. Most of the people I show them to never heard of them. I just love making them but have not sold any.
Thank you, Theresa! I had the same experience. I did some craft shows before having my channel and Etsy shop and spent the whole day explaining to people what the journals were. 😂. Some got it and loved them and others walked away looking confused. 😂. The great thing about Etsy is that the folks in our community that appreciate the time and work that goes into a journal can find them there. Maybe one day you’ll take the leap and start an Etsy shop to sell your journals. Big hugs to you! ❤
Blessed Sunday Gayle! Very informative and instructive video! The first time I watched you use a book to glue on and tear off the gluey pages , fold and save each as you went along, I was 100% intrigued! I’m pretty sure I may have asked you about it as your new subbie did in the comments and you were sweet enough to answer and give me some ideas. Great big Thankies Gayle! ! It led to come up with some creative ideas too, you always inspire me my friend! Sometimes I stack a few of the glue folded pages together sew them together to make little books or little journals to add to a journal and use washi tape or scraps for the bindings. Thank you for always being such a creative influence! You are truly a jewel! 💖
Good morning Gayle, I’ve been doing since I first saw your videos! I have learned so many things from you! You are the best! Hope you have a wonderful day!🤗💜🌻💕
Hello Gayle, Happy Sunday to you! I’ve been making ephemera for my granddaughters JJ and using book pages, TYFS it reminded me of one I forgot to make. Have a wonderful Sunday too. 👍🌸🌸🌸
Good morning Gayle thanks for the reminders❤ I glue on junk mail catalogs and recycle them. We have weather whiplash here in No. California too. Have a restful Sunday!
Good morning! I’ve never used a glue book. Loving all your suggestions and wonderful ideas! Tfs! Blessings dear! Spring will come! Lol! 💕 Enjoyed my weekend here in Helena. It went way too fast!
Oh Gayle, I’m embarrassed to admit this! I’m fairly new to JJ 8/9 months, I have been throwing my glue pages away! I’ll definitely start saving them NOW! Thanks for sharing!
Morning🌴, great video. I don’t have books to use so I use junk mail🤣😂. Just to glue on and then throw that away. It’s going in the trash anyways. It’s amazing how much junk you get even with paperless bills. Glue on the paper and use the envelope 🤣😂. Have a great day🌴❤️
