Unbelievable, I tried since yesterday everything under the sun, even asked an IT guy, no results. And You, my friend, the first option you offered, by running Command Prompt and do the chkdsk fixed the flash drive in minutes. Thank you for your valuable help. With chkdsk /r it took about 3 hours for my ext. disc Apacer 1TB (which otherwise was completely preserved and without bumps or falls) to fully recover. My advice to everyone: DO NOT interrupt commands to copy the huge amount of data you have already given - by no means! Thanks again!

After using this command, its showing the type of file system in RAW. Chkdsk is not available, I am trying to recover data from sd card. 2nd method didn't work as its didn't find any partition

I tried the "find and mount" it found a variation of my HD (wd blah blah and a few numbers, also through device manager, but not in disk management) but it also pulled up 0K, which is odd, since my drive is more along the lines of a 1Tb.

Can files be transferred from a computer hard drive to an external hard drive that has not been formatted? Whats the reason for formatting a hard drive? Over 70 and still learning.
To format a drive hard disk means to prepare the chosen partition on the drive to be used by an operating system by deleting all of the data and setting up a file system. So the device needs to be prepared to be used as a file system before you can store data on it. (So, yes you will need to format a hard drive before you can use it. Be sure to back up your data first).
How about recovering damaged files from thumb drives as I got that problem when I was transferring files from a fat32 32gb thumb drive to a different format drive 256gb thumb drive.
it took me 5 hrs to get my files back and it was worth it the power point was due the next day thanks you very much

Well you will need to put them in another drive. If you dont have another drive then what you can do is to save the files on another computer. You will need to share a folder from the other computer and access it on the computer your recovering the files on, then try to recover the files to the other computers shared folder. Hope that helps.

after going crazy finding for the right recovery software to help me recover one terabyte of memory, i finally came across this video tutorial. I tried doing the r&f check disk on command prompt for my 2TB external hard drive but near the end it says 'insufficient disk space'

I tried the command thing but after I click enter, nothing happens.. It just jumps to the next line and it doesn´t allow me to write anything else. Any idea what the problems might be? If I click anything related to that external drive, it freezes my computer and everything goes black, until I unplug the external drive from my computer, then it goes back to normal...

I messed with my external hard disk without knowing, and now it is showing 31.9gb instead of 320gb. I can’t access my documents in it. The disk just Recovery (D). Originally it will show LG HD. Hello. Today my usb crashed and show nomedia and 0B in cmd after i list disk infos. So I thought first I shoud use MpTools named 'Alcoremp.exe' and after that I can recover my data. But now my usb is accessable but I can't recover my data. Can I recover it?
