Pau Gasol is worthy of such a moment, and he's done a lot for Lakers' organization.
He was an incredibly skilled and impactful player. Pretty much hell to guard for the other matchup.
I'll never forget when the Lakers were behind in the 4th quarter of that 2010 finals game 7 against the Celtics. Kobe wasn't playing good that game and Pau took over that game. It was an amazing performance, he is definitely beloved by Laker fans.

@@mserikatodoh He is 32 all-time in career Win Shares and 41 all-time in playoff Win Shares as well as 47 all time in points and 29 all time in rebounds. Kobe got the FMVP on 09 and 10 but in those seasons Pau had the 24 and 28th best season by any player of all time by playoff Win Shares which are ahead of any playoff run by Stephen Curry, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson and Kevin Durant just to name a few. That is without stating his importance in international basketball and outside the court. So definitely top 75 in my book

Man I remember when they retired Kobe’s jersey and then got to see them in person in that side of the gym a year later. And then Kobe making that statement that pau’s jersey is going right next to his and couldn’t wait to see that day and was excited for that when it came time. Congrats Pau you are forever linked to Kobe and that beautiful time in basketball.

We were so absolutely spoiled getting to watch Bean and Pau dominate the league for three years. Was so bummed when Dallas knocked them out in the third year of the run but that aside, Pau is one of the best things that ever happened to the lakers organization. His unselfish team first attitude is something a lot of guys today should study. He understood what it meant to be a team first player and sacrificed so much to be a laker. A lot of people forget but he played on that awful 2014 team to honor his contract. This came after Kobe got hurt and the organization couldn’t fill the void left by Howard. Nowadays all the prima donnas would request a trade to a contender. He went on the next year to start the all star game as a bull. The fact he stayed on the lakers while in his prime and during the downswing shows how loyal and deserving he is to have 16 up there. One of the greatest lakers ever. Thank you Pau

Removing numbers from any team is just irrational and make it hard for new players who want to wear specific numbers.
The franchise can show respect to their great players by other means like statues.
