I usually skipped it until I saw it live. It pried open my third eye eye…
As a newer Tool fan (about 3 years) 3rd eye was definitely the song that took the longest to warm up to. I basically just skipped it for 2 years, then eventually thought "it's been a loooong time, let me remind myself what 3rd eye sounds like". The rest is history, it just grew on me and now I love it 🤘🌀
By the way, your gonna freaking love Lateralus. Make sure you listen to some of the tracks back to back or uninterrupted for the best experience 👍

Now you understand. lol. Imagine being 18, on a hallucinagen and hearing this being played live flawlessly when Maynard was still in his physical prime. Yup. It changed me, lol. Not promoting mind altering stuff. But that’s what helped me to grasp things that I previously couldn’t. Now I’m done with those. Good reaction to still my favorite band after 26 years. And I’m here for it ✌️

You gonna do Salival? The live TOOL album? It’s technically next in chronological order. Definitely was released before Lateralus
It was released in 2000 ahead of their next album, most of the recordings were from their tour in 1999 and end of 1998. So yes Salival was prior to Lateralus in 2001.

This is one of the few songs by Tool I actually think are better experienced without reading lyrics on the first listen. The lyrics are so trippy it is distracting!
+1 for "Eulogy". After that one it was clear this wasn't "another" metal band. It was like listening to Yes or Genesis without all that annoying flute, hobbit middle-earth shit 😆.
