Have you paddled the 27 wide ? If so how does the speed compare to the 25. Thinking of the 27 for a long distance race / touring board but wouldn’t want to speed and glide to be too compromised by the extra width.

How does the stability compare between the 14x25 Gen R and the 14x24.5 AllStar?

Good question and its one we are going to answer in the next video we make comparing the All Star, Sprint and Gen R - this will be out in October. But in short... The AS has a bigger secondary stability but doesn't feel as planted/ stable when you first paddle the board. They are both as stable overall but in different ways and at different points. Sorry will explain more in video. Thanks Reuben

Could this be a viable touring board for flatwater if the front was modified? Maybe at 14x29? I'm 140 pounds 5'6 if that helps. Thanks in advance. advance

The Gen R could definitely be used as a touring board by modifying the front. You could also add some tie down points behind the standing area for some kit too. It would be a machine!

Your weight and height benefit you massively to make a board an amazing tourer. Your lucky!!
Could go even go 27” if your not planning on taking a lot of gear or going out in rougher conditions? I was contemplating making an Genneration 14x28 a touring board just on the lower price of the lite tech. This Gen-R has me now wondering. 😊

I bought the 14x23 without testing it and I do not like it at all. I know everyone has a different stroke and feel, but I’m a smaller guy who’s paddle for a while and I really dislike it. I have to put in so much effort to keep this board moving. It’s very durable and stable but it simply doesn’t work well for me. My riviera 14x25 is fast than this board. I’ve tested it. I wish I could find a 14x23 riviera because I feel like that would be great for me because this board was a waste of money. I feel the same way about the sprint board. Actually, I dislike the sprint even more.

Thanks for your feedback Roger. It's good for paddlers to hear its not for everyone.

Yeah. SIC are the leaders so everyone copies them. That’s why they do so well in racing series around the world 😂

@@theseb1979 Starboard is definitely a bigger company and has better race results (tons of funding). I'm just speaking to this particular board. I took a deep look at it and the dimensions are almost identical to the RS. I'm not a Starboard hater. So please don't hate on me for stating the obvious. Aloha.

There are lots of boards across different disciplines with very similar dimensions. These two boards differ a bit with their bottom shape and rail shape. Good spot though 👍

@@theseb1979 What's interesting is I saw a prototype for the new SIC RS. It's a dugout with a high volume nose, a lot like an Allstar 🤣

Looks like a race board that could actually be a bit dog friendly.
