Thank you for going the extra mile to give us a really raw review of it by not watching any trailers or clips ricky, it means a lot that you do things as such to give us the best review and content possible:))
Its funny that bc how calm you were talking, I thought you were going to destroy the movie 😂 It turned to be the other way around tho. Good stuff brother! I'll watch it
Tin foil hat time: The reason there's no streaming or copies of grind anymore is so they could claim that. "Does this smell more like pepperoni or asscrack? I got 5 bucks on pepperoniiiiiii"
It was always a dream of mine to be a pro skate filmer growing up in NZ, which I was lucky to achieve in the mid 2000's after moving to Australia. I started filming my friends when I was 13 and after releasing a few homie vids and putting in the hours, I eventually got hired by skate companies to film teams and go on tours. It was an incredible time in my life getting paid to film my friends. I ended it on what I consider a high note, with the release of Let's Live and the subsequent tour across the states where I got to meet and hang with my heroes including Dill, Reynolds, Dollin, Muska, Koston and many more. Spending a night skating around NY with Dill and hearing his stories is something I will always cherish. The party lifestyle i.e drinking and drugs was something quite big in skateboarding at that time and ultimately what led to a lot of talented skaters and people I was hanging with losing focus or getting caught up with addiction. It was an incredibly exciting time in life but there were also dark times. The loss of friend Shane Cross (RIP) hung heavy over a lot of our heads including mine. I subsequently got caught up in the party lifestyle on that tour and likely passed up the opportunity to move to the states and continue my filming career. I think I was just feeling burnt out after working on the film for months and trying to deal with the loss of Shane. My friend and filmer Su Young Choi moved to the states and kept filming, which is awesome. It's not something I've really spoken about before but the theme of this film, chasing your dreams in skateboarding and trying to navigate it, really resonates with me. I wish there was more mental health support for kids in skateboarding. Like a mentorship or free counselling program. Anyways. Your skateboarding and the Braille team has helped rekindle my love for skateboarding. I've always kept up with it but the non-judgemental approach of everyone at Braille is what I align with. It's a really positive thing for skating. For anyone else young and ambitious reading this, you can achieve your dreams if you put in the work. I might not have gotten rich or become famous but that was never my goal. When you look back you don't think about the money, you think about the good times with friends. Life has many chapters and nothing lasts forever. Enjoy the times you have with your friends skateboarding and try to be present for it because as we get older life tends to pull people in different directions and before you know it the present is the past. Shane Cross Forever. Much love
I didn’t like it too much the story was really weird and it was supposed to be spread out through 3 months but felt like it was through 3 days, overall it was a C tear skate movie
@@Skizzy_Petethe story in my opinion was all over the place and there where a lot of random things in the movie that had nothing to actually do with the movie, it felt like a high budget movie detected by a bunch of 3Rd graders
Hey Rick. Go back in time and watch THRASHIN, starring Josh Brolin. Featuring the music of an unknown band called The Red Hot Chili Peppers. And Gleaming the Cube, starring Christian Slater. Featuring many legendary skaters.
@@rovingmauler7410 Yeah thats the one. Im 48, and that movie is actually before my time. I never knew that movie existed until a few years ago. Chili Peppers been around for a long long time.
I'm wondering if you've seen "Dogtown and Z Boys". Maybe it's because I saw it in theaters in 2001, but I loved it. Hollywood, and reality was pretty well balanced I thought.
Ok Ricky brooo, you have to review Deck Dogz!!! Might be hard to get a copy now but it's the best skate movie maybe ever and it's Aussie made (ps ..Tony hawk is in it 😏)
Hadn't heard of Street Dreams before, will definitely check it out! Check out Lords of Dogtown, this one written by Stacey Peralta if you haven't yet seen/heard of it.
Street Dream did it take it better. This was trying to be too trendy. I like how Street Dreams was made by a skater, for skaters. I can especially appreciate all the pro’s like Ryan, P-Rod, Rob D, and others doing “real skating”; no Hollywood wires, CGI, or alternate skaters. I appreciated the review though, just hoping Ricky would’ve agreed with me lol 😂
False. In "Grind", they all wanted to be pro skaters, except maybe Sweet Lou. Especially Eric and Matt though, Dustin had college as a fallback, but they were all out to get sponsored and turn pro. At the end of the movie, Eric was pro and signed a board for a kid.🤓
Do a full review of mid90s, its my personal favourite skating movie
Wish it was on Netflix😒

I honestly really liked this movie it felt authentic
Actually, Grind is a movie about 4 guys trying to go pro
