You nailed it with the third song ("Grey Blow")- it is nostalgic for us. It's from the 90's, probably the last decade of decent rock bands in Israel, and it was the theme of a TV show called "Florentine", named after a district in southern Tel Aviv.
The lyrics talk about a young couple wanting to live like adults so the girl says we'll move to south Tel Aviv, work a little bit, you'll make your music, it's gonna be ok and all... and it ends up with everything crumbling and feels like a "grey blow" decends upon the city. I mean, this is my take on it, could be wrong.
But anyway, you got it exactly right with the nostalgic feeling and the typical audience for this song.
    Nice video man.

To me "Maka Afora" reminds me of the Rabin assassination, don't know if there was an intentional connection, just the time frame it came out, feeling of optimism and then depression. What about the part where the lyrics are "זה קרה בסתיו של השנה שעברה", do you know if that song refers to refer to the killing which was in November? (Autumn?)

Monica Sex Maka Afora (Grey Punch) was a huge hit in Israel back in the 90's...
This was a song about a young couple trying to live the life in the big city (Tel Aviv), and was also the opening theme for a very famous Israeli TV series back then called Florentin, about guys and girls living in the big city.
    "She told me- hey look
    Life is pretty wonderful
Lets rent a room in S.Tel Aviv
    And live like grown ups
Lets live from a minute to another
Find a temporary non serious job
    Maybe you shall find
    Something to write about
    Not something deep, something sweet
    A love story...
    With lots of metaphores
The main charecter will be drunk
    Like you...
    There is a lovely pain
    Which goes by so fast
And I dont want to recall
    How I was standing there
    How Ive told her
    You are beutiful
    Thats what you need
    Thats what I want
And thats how it gonna be...
It took place at the autum of last year
It falls like a grey punch on the city

Im really curious as to how you came up to those specific songs. Most of them are considered old school by industry standards here. Plus you got 2 English songs, which are not super rare but aren't that common (we're a small country, so many musicians try appealing to an international audience)
It's very popular to mix styles, genres and languages - so if you like that, I made a few recommendations at the bottom
    SUBLIMINAL
Basically you got our "family friendly rapper" a little like will smith is as a musician.
    NETTA
she started her career competing in the Euro-vision, It's also why she sings solely in English. honestly, she's not much of singer live - but she gives amazing performance. Israeli pop is very energetic, and is mostly about being happy against the odds (quite a generalization, but this is already too long). so we have a lot of "bubble gum and rainbows" songs, although she is the more extreme expression of this.
    MONICA SEX
The song you played is from 1995, there wasn't really much of show in music videos back then.
Israeli rock has a much broader range than the two you brought here - give it a shot
    SARIT HADDAD
a good example of the israely oriental old school pop. most of the genre is about romance, and tends to be a sad and even depressing. But it has shifted over the last decade and there are a lot more musicians of this style making fun songs to dance to. basically it became the party/wedding genre. so if you like her vocals, but dislike the music - check out some of the others
    ASAF AVIDAN
He went Internationale and I'm pretty sure he doesn't live here. his older songs pack quite a punch (vocally)
    *************************
obviously there are many more great musicians you should check out, but there is a limit. I tried giving a mixed list, but at the buttom line I know the songs I like. ENJOY
Ninet Tyb - you said you love rock - check her out. not only she's an amazing singer ,she gives a hell of a performance. A lot in english as well. this song is a cover she made as part of a tv show about "Red band" a puppet rock band (check them out as well)
    czcams.com/video/rE2EWYdXQFI/video.html
Jain Bordo - amazing vocals, soft music - song title: how is it possible not to (sounds a bit rough in English, but it works in hebrew)
    czcams.com/video/-BR3ziVDazM/video.html
Static and Ben El - Israeli pop - combines multiple styles in every song
    czcams.com/video/Y_OLslE3bX8/video.html
Stephan Legar - a multilingual singer, combines franch, hebrew and english. If I recall correctly, he currently serves in the IDF as a musician (it's quite common for young talents)
    czcams.com/video/PuDfh4F0aKc/video.html
a combonation of artists and even our current president at the end (not the same role as american president) on a special project - the song is titled "a tribe of brothers and sisters" about the israeli mentality of one big family
    czcams.com/video/xWx3R7WaAQY/video.html
Guy Mazig - Fun rock - just enjoy some funky tunes
    czcams.com/video/7Whi2fmeQZs/video.html
Eden Ben Zaken - another Israeli pop, but she has a more genre spefic style and her vocal skills are amazing
    czcams.com/video/vTDjXjZO_hk/video.html
Habilluim - for punk lovers - the band is mostly about complicated lyrics. this specific songs sounds like gibberish to hebrew speakers as well - just enjoy the sound
    czcams.com/video/NXlmh2IAyow/video.html
Tuna - rapper, a slower more tepid rapper than Subliminal - If you like this, check out Natchi Natchi (they perform together quite often)
    czcams.com/video/3PJmE-ucx_o/video.html
Moshe Artzi - one of the most popular Israeli musicians, and considered by many to be "classical Israeli music" - the song was inspired from 'Imagine' by john Lenon
    czcams.com/video/Y0KxZz5k-RE/video.html
Omer Adam - honestly not my style - but if you liked Sarit hadad, you should check him out
    czcams.com/video/WLMmX17D2uw/video.html
Shmemel - a crazy awsome mixture - I guess you can call it a successful version of Israeli indie
    czcams.com/video/NIQjUZk_Hiw/video.html
Hatikva 6 - Israeli pop county (kinda) - this song is a mash of Israeli symbolism (popular snacks, the bummer of losing international sports competitions etc)
    czcams.com/video/3mNFg-EyBkU/video.html
Jimbo J - great fun - this song is a summery of the typical Israeli main life events - the title mean "done that" which is a common expression in Hebrew for all the events portrait in the song
    czcams.com/video/x6ezbFpkGlw/video.html
Kaveret - old school super popular music. most of their lyrics is nonesens and puns, the music is just plain fun - this song is a ballad about a guy who is very attached to his boots
    czcams.com/video/qoGM7G7cZJk/video.html
Ivri Lider - soft and a little poetic. quite popular here
    czcams.com/video/3kJiCtRlVTo/video.html
Hadag Nahash - hiphop, extremely popular band - this song was written using only stickers from cars, signs etc
    czcams.com/video/GIbjpev6U5s/video.html
Aerutz Hkibud (channel of snacks/sharing/respecting - they love puns) - honestly, they're closer to singing comedians than full on musicians. so it's mostly about the lyrics, but the beat is a really good example for israelly hip hop and dance music.
they are very popular and personally I love singing comedians more than any other kind of performers.

Your comment on the 2nd video by Neta is incorrect, you were actually right to guess the first time that it's a dialect that's used in Hebrew.
"Basa" means something along the lines of "bummer" or "shame" as in, it's a shame it happened.
"Sababa" is in Arabic (in Hebrew we use a lot of Arabic and English words since most of our families originated in Arabian countries) which means "Okey" or "Good".
Also, saying the production level is good was probably the best compliment for Neta since she's a producer first, and singer second.
It's really cool that you figured out the songs meanings without understanding the lyrics.
Also, Sarit would be happy to hear you call her a "young" lady since she's already in her 40's
Awesome vidoe, off to part 2 xD

As an Arab (syrian if you're curious) I don't know how I feel about this situation.
believe me I don't have anything against Israel people .
But at the same time I don't know why the word Israel triggers me in a way . Maybe it's because of the way I was taught to unaccept it, like till this day the majority of Arabs write the word "Israel" inside of two quotes meeting that we don't believe in it and that we don't accept it. Or maybe it's the way they came out , I have Palestinian friends and till this day there life are still affected by the situation that happened mentally and physically
I don't know where I'm going with this comment ,I don't have any hard feelings . the music is great they're quite talented

someday the Arabs will be less confuse when they will start to know who we are for real and stop hearing about us from the Arab propaganda regimes media . at the end of the day we wish to have peace with all of our Arab neighbors, but it's difficult because you are hating yourself not only us..., I think all Arabs Muslim should start all over again with open minded, only then the world will see the good in Arabs.

@@user-wb4xj2um3u first of all I want to say thank you for your reply and for giving us your opinion, I sort of agree on most of it , and I couldn't agree more on the "Open Mind" part .
As Arabs they're very attached to their customs, traditions and their culture, cuz that is what makes us Arabs.
But at the same time my opinion and from what I'm physically seeing is that the younger generation is coming out as more open minded then the older generation and more accepting ,it all just needs time .
I know this reply is too long but I just want to talk a little bit about people that assume and associating Arab culture as Muslims we're more than that , we have Christians we have Jews we have Druze (I'm a druze) and many more religions .
