The drafts back then used to hit different
Because they were random …. Now it’s almost as scripted as nba and nfl boring
I loved the 2011 draft. Orton is my all time favourite n when he got drafted to smackdown I was so hyped. Always slightly preferred Smackdown at the time. And we all know how good Randy looked with that World Heavyweight Championship and it gave us (imo) one of the best feuds of the 2010s. Orton vs Christian. I know the brands were no longer split shortly after so it made the 2011 draft slightly irrelevant but I still loved it as an 11 year old kid
I think they should make the draft every other year so it feels a little more special and also gives a better identity to the shows roster
This actually makes sense it gives the rosters breathing room and gives them more time to build to the event.
Plus give the shows different stages to give them a different atmosphere

I personally prefer them fighting for picks. Makes it much more must see in my opinion. Start off with a 30 or 40 man battle royal. End with a 6 man tag of drafted superstars😂. That last parts a joke but still. Make them earn it.

RAW vs Smackdown drafts sucked.
But again, I'm older and recall a time when the show storylines started from Sunday Night Heat to RAW to Smackdown!
Miss how the draft use to be from 07 to 11. They should bring that back
An example of a bad draft pick this year was Theory drafted to smackdown. Because the bloodline segments taking up all of the tv time, it derailed Theory’s momentum.
Almost every angle has taken such a backseat to the Bloodline

Raw attacking Smack Down/Smack Down attacking Raw used to be awesome because the two were like separate worlds and whenever they collide it seems almost like a crossover.
Now all it seems like is a scripted segment when they pick for each show. Picking worked in 2002 because it was the inaugural draft, but the randomness from the lottery (even tho it was still scripted) was still more fun to see.
The best one was when cena first went to raw ! Trading champions felt like a real shock even if the rest of it was kinda a dud , every year since has been pointless
The brand split actually felt like a brand split. It needs to go back to what it was. Survivor series felt special as well. Seeing two rivals on the same brand struggling to co exist on a team was more entertaining than the same four people going from raw on Monday’s then Smackdown on Fridays

I think current Things on WWE doesn't favor A Draft but probably once We have clear and regular champions we'll have genuine draft and GM and stages are something I really really miss

I really wish they brought back GMs or some version of the authority back, I loved watching the authority every week it was incredibly entertaining, it created the yes movement, made Rollins a megastar especially when he cashed in at WM 31, amongst other things. We really need general managers back.

Poblem nowadays is a lack of GMs to make the draft entertaining, the shows still feel the same with no different identities and they abandon the concept in like 2 months😅 plus the networks always want different ppl from different shows

Ah yes. The superstars shakeup along with the confusing "wildcard rules" proved that Vince was already ran out of idea on how to make these brand split thing more interesting.
The last draft was like me drafting on my GM, because Im only drafting wrestlers with high stamina.
Man I wish I could remember these old drafts because they looked so cool the drafts these days are so boring.
The Flair vs Mcmahon Draft is still my favorite.

You got 2011 backwards. It started off with the battle royal. And ended with a 6 man tag of the drafted superstars. Mark Henry got angry and attacked Cena and I think Christian was the other partner. Costing smackdown the match. Then Cena got drafted back to Raw.

I've always loved and looked forward to the drafts. I make my own predictions to see how close I can get to the actual picks. It's a lot of fun. You're right though. Definitely need to bring back General Managers so the draft feels more important.
As a kid I used to clench my fist to my mouth and mock Mr. Kennedy. I was there in my hometown of Detroit when I watched him win the Money In The Bank at 23. Then that match with the lakers jerseys and he’s gone baby. rip I got tears rn. What a gimmick.

Survivor Series should be when the draft happens, use the inter brand matches to determine picks and give title shots to the winners of said matches.
I probably only get 2 to 3 good years of draft but honestly I didn't care about it I would more focus on what it would lead up to in survivor series

The only way to save wwe draft is have a storyline of power head of wwe between shane McMahon and hhh on screen so vince come out after mania 40 to say there is new revolution in wwe and announced he is going to give wwe on to somelse then shane come out and then hunter both arguing who get the power so vince said it you both got to show me who is real good so shane got raw and hhh got sd then draft need to happen where so it create a draft special you don't who shane gone sign or hhh gone sigh fir sd

They need to do the draft like this again I miss when smackdown and raw could even throw in nxt since they tryna establish it as a 3rd brand competing for picks

it should be shaun micheals picking for nxt. that way it makes sense why shawn doesnt just take roman reigns/cody/balor to nxt. he wants to keep his guys his roster intact but add a few midcarders and give them a second life like corbin. corbin get drafted would motivate corbin since shawn micheals believes in him.
