    We've been shooting exclusively on the RED KOMODO for the past 15ish months and any of the "wish they would improve or change XYZ" for me simply disappear when it comes to image quality and workflow. R3D is imho the absolute best codec in the world. I wouldn't change a thing.

      Bingo.

      I’ve had mine for more than two years now and it’s been a miracle camera for me as a newer DP. Also, thanks for the videos early on, Carlos. Those were key for me to understand FLUT. I’ve exploited the cameras tools with amazing results.

      Just hoping that Red comes out with more budget-friendly (a little bit more than the Komodo), full-frame Komodo with a global shutter. But I have a higher chance of winning a lottery than that. Lol

    shooting high just flip it upside down haha you will prob need handheld though, 4 inch cube is perfect, rf mount rules!!!!, LQ all day i say, alright sometimes the wireless can loose connection alright there is one thing to hate now ahaha but it does work good most the time :P

    The RF mount (whilst not as flexible as the ability to change mounts) is a modern choice which has a very slim flange distance, allowing for any other lens to be adapted to it - nice video!

    Just about every camera especially a Cube camera uses a monitor and you don’t have to by Smallhd $1800 monitor Feelworld monitors work just fine.The bad guy is very picky 😂 nice video.

    Heh, You love that its a Komodo and you hate that its not a DSMC2 for Komodo price :) - Its hard to beat it for its price. Def replace that nub antenna…..

    • @ScottBalkum

      My #1 complaint is just the audio. I’ve said it many times that its the weakest link. But who knows. Maybe that can change. My favorite thing is literally the size of it. I freakin love the size.

    • @YouTube_can_ESAD
      @YouTube_can_ESAD Před rokem

      @@ScottBalkum and as you know, it was originally designed to be a crash cam. Audio was not a priority early on, but I hear you for those who adapt it for “B” Cam handheld/work on sticks/documentary work where audio is critical.

    My only gripe is how easy it is to burn out the SDI port and that it’s literally the only outport option. So if it burns out, you’re screwed and in for a costly repair. Especially when it’s a reasonably cheap fix at the manufacturing level to shield it from this issue.
    I know it’s a “problem” with SDI ports on other notable cameras, but the tech exists for it to not be a problem.
    I’d also like to see more stability with the link adapter’s usb-c port when using it for monitoring. Sometimes feels less stable than the wifi connection and that’s absurd.

    I am OK with everything, screen, form factor, mount and file compression options, especially considering the price point, but that fuckin wifi just drives me crazy

    Anything Red commands a premium, some even to the point of it being illogically expensive.

    Oh, no body mentioned the bad sorry but super bad pre-amps on the Komodo for solo operators wanting to use a battery powered shotgun mic instead of using an external recorder with phantom power. But all the other things are so great about it! Still love it

    Why no mention of the black shading ? Must be a pain in the ass when you change lenses or shooting temp changes when you go from indoors to outdoors.

    • @YouTube_can_ESAD
      @YouTube_can_ESAD Před rokem

      There’s no mention of it because you’re an idiot that is completely FOS.
      You posted this twice, the only pain in the ass here is is you and your complete stupidity.
      But I’ll add my response from the first time you belched this forth….
      “I see that people are still woefully ignorant and supremely confident in their stupidity. Are you f****** serious? 😂😂😂
      Changing lenses dictates a Black Shading? News to me and I’ve been a Red Owner since the R1, I’ve taught REDucation all over the World, I’ve owned most RED Camera Brains/Bodies and I’m a Local 600 DP/DIT for the past 15 years. Not once have I had to do a black shading because I was changing lenses. This is some next level stupidity, you should be ashamed.
      And temperature changes? You realize that’s only if there is an extreme change in temperature, right? Evidently not, as demonstrated by your dumbass post.
      Post less, learn more… You are not in a position to say a word. 😂”

    • @TheJ_G
      @TheJ_G Před rokem +2

      It’s not that bad. Takes about a minute and if you plan accordingly, there’s plenty of “unproductive” minutes sprinkled throughout a shoot that it can be done in.
      Haven’t needed to black shade when changing lenses though, only when the overall temp changes drastically.
      Overall it’s really not difficult to manage black shading on the Komodo.

      Of course for events and run'n'gun shoots, it's a pain in the A**** but if you do corporates, commercials, short films, music videos,...every projects when you have a minimum of time, then, it's not really a big deal because like JG said, there's plenty of "unproductive" moments during the day and it won't be that big of a deal when you know that you can wait 1 minute to get the next shot. (P.S: sorry if my English is not right, I'm still learning 😅)
