As a Pakistani 🇵🇰 i respect and pay tribute to the professionalism and honour of The Indian🇮🇳 Army❗❗. It's sad that I can't say the same for our own Army or more specifically our traitor Generals. 🤦🤦
Total numbers of Pakistan army stationed in East Pakistan was 33000. Six thousand were killed in Bangladesh war by Indian army and Bengali insurgents. Out of remaining 27000 one third were fighting force. Whereas India attacked with 350000 army backed by 200000 Indian trained and armed Mukti Bahani.

1) The reason why Bengali officers/men were kept at bay was the horrendous acts of shameless brutality committed on West Pakistanis, Biharis, pro-Pakistan Bengalis by the Awami League militants and East Pakistan Rifles across East Pakistan in March 1971 well before Operation Searchlight.
2) Maj. Ziaur Rahman was wanted for murdering his CO Lt. Col. Abdul Rashid Janjua and his fellow officers before absconding.
3) And as for the "fair treatment" by the Indians, POW accounts are freely available with harrowing details. Brig. Siddique Salik, Lt. Gen. Tariq Pervez, Maj. Raja Nadir Parvez, Maj. Ikram Sehgal, and many others!

Incorrect. Gen Arora was GOC Eastern Command. It was Sam Bahadur who didn't want to be in the limelight so he let his officer take the credit who was heading that command at that time. Plus Pakistan had already surrendered and they would have no say in this decision.

Other prisoners also included burrucrates and PIA officials who had no way to leave the country. Even the 3 million Bengalis killed is an extremely exagurated beyond proportion bullshit. I admit killing happend but the guy who first said 3 million even admitted that he said 3 lakh not three million. Hitler with all his might couldn't acheive that in 6 years which you are saying an I'll equipped army has done in 2 months. No need to prove it wrong. Even if the retired officer is telling 100% truth but Pakistan Army on Western Borders could have averted the situation if they had faught with valour and bravery and capture the western areas of India and capture Indian POWs then the loss of East Pakistan could have been got compensated or bargained and the defeat reverted. Hence Pakistan army as a whole did not fight probably due to involvement in civil and political matters. This is the lesson for future.
