  • I got a new car!
    Its a 2014 Nissan Juke Nismo RS.
    I also ended up with a box of parts from the previous owner. The previous owner purchased these parts from the Juke Forums and wasn't really sure what all was included. So its a bit of a mystery box!
    The first thing I decided to install was the GFB Respons BOV.
    This is a fairly simple install that ended up becoming a 20 minute video. Honestly its a really easy install but by the time I was done filming and making the gasket etc, it ended up being a nice afternoon of doing car things.
    The song is Horizons by MOOG featuring Erin Renee. If you like the song you can buy it from the Mighty Car Mods website or iTunes.
    Thanks for watching!

    Yeah this is the old style Valve, now they have modified it and it comes with its own gasket but the O-ring type, like the stock one comes. Meaning the valve at the bottom is not flat any more like this one. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

    Turbo Smart Makes one with a fitting that spins so you can still make the stock hose fit which I thought was nice, But adding a hose like you did works to, and it's probably a better fit to make your own hose.. Again nice vid..

    Interestingly enough with my Nismo and only the Injen CAI the stock BOV sounds almost just as loud as the GFB on full recirc. I'm currently in the process of convincing a local muffler shop that a 3" cat back can fit so they will make me one since custom is half the price of Injen or Greddy...they don't believe it will fit over the rear beam without getting hit on a big bump.

      I would believe that. Look at how much sound reduction went into the stock intake to try and keep the noise down.
      And lol I was a little skeptical when I was installing too, I was like “hmmmm I hope this fits”

      @@konradchristen i run mine with out the pipe to the air box, sounds great like that, and it still filters perfectly. Between th GFB valeve and the pipe off, makes a good combo.

    If i drive it with 100% atmosphere is the engine as efficient as on 100% recirculation? I mean it s any difference between 100% recirculation and 100% atmosphere for the engine?

    • @konradchristen
      @konradchristen  Před rokem

      Difference is what happens to boost pressure when you let off the gas.
      I’m 100% atmosphere, as soon as the BOV opens, all your pressure is vented to the outside.
      In 100% recirc, the BOV opens but the pressure is kept inside the system, goes wherever output hose goes.
      The negative to going to 100% atmosphere is that you have to build up ALL your boost again. So if you had a massive turbo and you needed 30psi to make power, going 100% atmosphere means it would take longest to get back into boost after shifting or any time you let off the gas.
      Fuel efficiency wise, I’m thinking it’s difficult to know with such a small turbo and the fact that fuel efficiency wise you’d probably want to be out of boost entirely

      gfb.com.au
      This is the company website. I’m sure they have a bunch of distributors in the USA. Or just order direct from Australia

      GFB Respons TMS, their part number is T9006. I got a second hand one on eBay, though as Konrad states you may find a local distributor.

    Hi how do you adjust it as you said while driving under boost?

    • @konradchristen
      @konradchristen  Před 4 lety +3

      Sorry my wording was bad. To adjust it you have to go drive, hit boost and then let the engine come back down to idle. Or if it’s really bad it just won’t build boost at all... but anyways if you need to adjust it, you must get out, open the hood and increase the spring tension. Then rinse and repeat

    can you tell me how many millimeters and push in the adjusting screw please from the edge of the dump

    • @konradchristen
      @konradchristen  Před 3 lety +1

      If you are referring to the setting for the BOV screws for spring tension, I wouldn’t measure it in mom’s because you could have a non-identical setup. The springs could have a different “K” and therefore even if you copied the measurement it wouldn’t behave the same.
      I would follow the procedure I detailed or refer to the manufactures website.
      And I also don’t own the car or BOV anymore so I can’t check for reference.
      Sorry! Wish I could be more helpful.

      @konradchristen  Před 3 lety +1

      Ok I understand,
      I would say that as long as the engine doesn’t stumble after you let off from a full boost pull, you should be fine despite the different distances.

      The name of the part is: Go Fast Bits T9006 Respons TMS. I think they may have changed the model now but it is GFB’s hybrid Blow off valve / Recirc valve. I ended up really loving it on recirc more then full blow off. It wasn’t so loud but it made good fun Turbo noises!
