This new Stratoliner has a manufacture calibre that was tested in the stratosphere with the assistance of the Swedish Space Corporation. Next year it will be taken past the exosphere and into open space. Having spent a week with this watch, I noticed it carries an impressive level of finish and detail work. It has a purpose driven design. Here are a few of the things I enjoyed most:
Solid bracelet with a quick adjust clasp. Great lume. Good anti-reflective treatment. Spot on accuracy. And the blend of presence and comfort while on wrist. Its a tool watch I felt like I could take anywhere. There wasn't one element that I didn't like about the watch. Very solid all-around.
Fortis will be giving away a Stratoliner of your choice this year. The only requirement to enter is subscribing to their CZcams channel. The giveaway will take place in December. Let's help Fortis grow their reach:

The number “13” is an important one to Fortis (it is their lucky number, they say), and so all the new watches are launched on the 13th of the month.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Such a cool piece of trivia! A true gentleman and a scholar.
When I talked to the Fortis rep at the SF Wind-Up, he mentioned this.. let alone there are a few sources from watch reviews which basically confirm this info about why the orange 13. I think they may have started doing this when they introduced their new Flieger line of F-39, F-41 & F-43 , mix of time only, chronograph and GMT variants, a couple years back.
Anyways, was always curious about Fortis and when I finally got to get a few in hands.. rather on the wrist, it made sense and really stuck in my head. I was most interested in their Marine Master and Flieger F-39.. it made such an impact I got a F-39 not all that long after the Wind-Up. It's a great modern Flieger design.
I hope you get to try that and the other variants in time and get your thoughts on them.
I also got a sneak peak at these new chronographs at the Wind-Up. Pretty cool and imoressive. If I'm being honest, I only wish there was a little more depth or layers to the dial. I mean they are really flat. I sort of get the no-nonsense clarity and legibility of the dial. But, a little layering might have helped in just a little extra visual interest.
There are tons of other cool features/easter eggs on this watch. The lumed timing segments are rad! The caseback has an area that meant to look like the window on the plane/spaceship. Also do the shape of the pushers remind you of anything? Space fans will recognize the shape. As for the 13, it has numerous meanings - not just a lucky number. What a fantastic watch by Fortis - so incredibly cool!
Fortis might be the most underrated watch brand on the market. I just ordered one pre-owned where they’re such a bargain!
Great video Bruce, I love Fortis, I have a Marienmaster Flieger B-42 Al Tayer Limited Edition with an eastern Arabic dial and I enjoy wearing it a lot.
I have to say their older leather straps weren't my favorite, but with a 20 mm lug width, it is a strap monster.
Awesome collection of Fortis, thanks for sharing!
Great vid and nice to see Fortis still innovating.
Fortis makes great watches ! I love my B42 Cosmonaut Chronograph. Fortis makes great watches because of Jupp the owner of the company and the talented team that works with him . They are committed to creating something special in each Fortis model 👏👏👏👏👏
Great review and glad to see more of Fortis getting some well deserved attention. Very well built with some long history behind the brand. Got my first Fortis last year in the F41 flieger. Great watch and block bracelet with quick adjust, and a bit of a beast to at 198 grams. And like you've mentioned, the weight just reminds you that it's a seriously well built tool watch. Mine also has the date on the 13th in red , really unique and a nice touch.
Fortis is hard to source in the US unless you have a you tube channel. Lol 🍻!
Luckily I came across one in NY that could get one for me. Same scenario for Sinn, only one place to buy in the US. So trying one on wrist before purchasing could be difficult.
Cheers
I’m happy to see this brand drumming up some hype for itself!
Awesome video Bruce. As a long time fan of this brand, I’m glad to see it on your channel. I really like this release, I just wish the endlinks matched. They do have a great team there now and overall, I like where the brand is going!
Thank you! If they went with a fitted endlink they would have to lose the angled lug shape which I really like
6 thousand dollars and I can't get fitted end-links!!! Forget that
Perfect watch for my morning space travel.
That's properly cool. Love it - watch + space = awesome!! Only have an old small Fortis in the watch box, can see a newer one in there in the future.
Excellent video, thank you Bruce 👍🏻👍🏻
These are solid pieces
The type of watch you carry with you for a decade once you fall in love with it
I agree
I've had a Fortis for years (the classic Cosmonaut with ceramic bezel and AM/PM colourway); it's a great piece and I always thought they were an underrated brand. However...I'm not sure on this piece. Especially the weather balloon gimmickry, they've already had watches in space proper with ROSCOSMOS, so this feels like a backwards step just to promote a "new" movement which is just a modified 7750. The old ones with the 7750 were just fine as they were.
Great content, thank you. I own a Fortis B42 as a part of my collection and also enjoy it's heritage and construction.
I appreciate that!
Great intro. You are an editing master!
Großartig! Nicely presented and I like the Stratoliner a lot from what I've seen. Looks Like a nice combination of modern and sporty. Great contrast to the vintage '76 Fortis Marinemasters, that I've been eyeing for an eternity now.
The clasp looks quite hefty though, I am looking forward to trying this on!
13 Could also have a bearing with regards to Apollo 13
Great looking watch, with great spec. I almost wanted to put it on my wishlist, but 50,7 lugs are probably too much on my 17cm wrist.
Good vid tho.
Amazing watch. I have a Mars 500 chronograph and it's a beast of a watch. The price on this one is steep but understandable. I'll be adding one if the right deal shows up. This or the 2017 autavia reverse panda...
I’ve been looking at vintage 90’s Cosmonaut Chronographs and really getting into Fortis through that. This new model is cool and technically impressive, but the open end links are off putting to me. However it’s nice to see Fortis getting some well deserved attention!!
Great looking Watch I think.
Something different.
Amazing levels of engineering it seems went into this.
The number 13 is for my birthday, obviously…😭
Excellent job Bruce. I actually like that the bracelet has no end links, it makes it look more rugged. The price is a little hefty, but man, it looks tough. I WANT ONE.
Best of luck for the giveaway! I want one too haha
Very cool watch 😎
Nice video Bruce👌🏻
Love the brand and but not these models. Thanks for the review Bruce 👍
Same. And not convinced by the movement either, they call it a manufacture movement but it looks a lot like a 7750 to me. Column wheel variants are have been in use by Longines for a while at a
Fortis, good job on the bracelet endlinks gap between the watch case. Stuck in 1990s much?
8:05 Bless you
Next Fortis to review Bruce, the Marine Master M-40. I have the rockstone grey color and it’s just not being talked about enough. Looks so nice on the bracelet, wears incredibly well, built like a tank, lume that beats my Rolex, Tudors, Seikos, etc. Have a hard time finding a con, though I do wish they used the kinesi movement like the 44mm version. Can’t wait to see you review that model!
I had zero complaints about this one too.
The grey M-40 looks a great watch. I’m very tempted and love the lume on it.
The orange is Fortis' signature Berlac Fluor orange.
I thought the werk 17 was kanissi tudor owned caliber manufacturer
13 in orange is just a reminder to be cautious hence the orange colour and 13 being a unlucky number 13= unlucky Orange = caution
Love the design and execution of the new Stratoliner. I like it a lot more than the Flieger that came out a couple of years ago. That being said, it is pushing it a bit too far in terms of price.
@brucewilliams Will you do a review of the Novonaut (blue) as well? 😊
I think these are very appropriately priced. Fortis did a killer job with this watch. Unfortunately it's too thick for me.
6:50 is it tho? Cool enough to replace your Tudor chrono panda? This is the true test if you truly think that it’s REALLY REALLY cool 😉.
I have two chronos currently... Could definitely make room for a third lol
@@BruceWilliams This would fit like a glove in your collection. Totally your style!
If this watch costed 2000/2500 euros id bought it
I dunno I kinda find the faces on these offputting. Maybe its just something you need to see in person but IMO I'd rather own one of their cosmonauts or those beautiful new pilot watches they came out with a couple years ago.
L-O-V-E this watch-just can’t swing it, $$$$$$
Bro, let's cut to the chase. Just buy the Zenith Defy Skyline and make a video about it already..... ;-D
Lol
Nice release, but I can't justify paying $5000 for a chrono hand that stutters like that
True but how many chronos have a 200m WR with a 60 hour power reserve? I'm betting some sacrifices where made in the movement to make the watch as tough as it is.
@@loganholmberg2295 yeah that's true too
Exactly. Especially when swatch group offers a chrono like it in a model of a tissot for under 500.00.
this watch is amazing and its aimed at space galactic travel, good luck selling this to the galactic assholes fortis
I like Fortis but saying something is made from recycled steel is meaningless. 81 percent of all steel used today ends up being recycled so a lot of the products made today are made from recycled steel. Hell at the plant we make farm implements and we buy ALL our steel from a recycler. There is NO difference in the price or quality.
Saying you make something out of recycled plastic or metal is meaningless nowadays. Just like mil-spec. And do you know what mil-spec actually means? The cheapest product to meet the BARE minimum requirements for military use. Not the best...BARE MINIMUM. And you wonder why soldiers bitch about their equipment. 😅😅
A watch this hefty should be Titanium.. and Titanium is more space like. Agreed.. recycled steel is meaningless.
First?
First!
I’ve always loved and owned Fortis, but I find these news watches very cheap looking. It’s the sort of colour scheme I’d expect to see on a fake watch bought on a beach in Spain. Revolting
In their video Fortis said they hand sent the watches to Space, Fortis people are so lost.
Fantastic watch, though probably the ugliest I've ever seen.
Question, have you ever seen an Invicta?
@@BruceWilliams You got me there!
😂
Nice movement, horrible design hard to read.
