  • The Singaporean coffee culture is unique to us. Let's face it, while the presence of gourmet coffee in Singapore may have grown, our local coffee-shop Kopi will always have a special place in our hearts (and stomachs).
But how much do we know about the hard work that goes into a traditional cup of Kopi we drink every morning?

In my opinion , it is the economy that is killing these treasured heritage , rent , debt , cost of living etc had been skyrocketed. Hence millennials may find these kind of job or the responsibility of continuing those culture / heritage not so feasible. I do need to give credit for those who are willing to continue and preserve these treasures. Feel free to criticize me and we'll have a healthy debate here

I feel that old people require roasted beans and in the past, they wanted an affordable cup of coffee so they did this business. So now, millennials look towards better coffee and want higher quality. This industry won't disappear its just evolving into a more complex and higher-quality industry.

Even the hawker food also changing so much...........last time, I was back, so hard to find good duck rice, or even cai tao kueh, why everywhere Mala, Korean or Japanese food one? Maybe should learn how the Italians retain their foods. Can change and reinvent, but must keep the original version also. Look at how Starbucks failed in Italy? Either the channel is ignorant or they don't bother to verify claims on their own content. Anyway it's probably a Singaporean owned channel and you can see this sham trend across many Facebook & CZcams food topics where they make these false claims saying they created this, originates from Singapore and what not. Its all about making tourist dollars but hop on over to Malaysia or Indonesia you will find the same food where it is tastier and 3 times cheaper!

@@hotbodtz The oldest Hainanese coffee shop in Singapore belongs to Killiney kopitiam at Killiney Road. It started off as Kheng Hoe Heng Coffee shop in 1919 by a Hainanese migrant. Whereas in KL, the first coffee shop named Yut Kee was opened in 1928. Roasted coffee with sugar and butter was invented by a coffee shop owner in Singapore in 1929, and was made popular in Malaysia. Subsequently, coffee shops in the different states in Malaysia created different ways of roasting their coffee beans. Check it out from the links below
