Yeah we didn’t regain the Ashes and yeah Smith was playing a game on another planet but Broad still had Warner in his pocket all summer. One of the good things that happened for England.

It was a great series, we didn't deserve to regain but loads of positives and so many amazing memories.

I was there, you should have heard the noise when he walked out to bat, he was greeted with a wall of boos, absolutely deafening, I'm sure it unnerved him.
It was a bloody cauldron. Have to credit Smith because he got the same but managed to score heavily - unbelievable mental strength. But he then lost a bit of respect by taking the piss out of Jack Leach after they'd retained the urn - you might've thought they'd have learned a little humility given all they'd been through in the previous 18 months but apparently not.

Pretty amazing that Aus retained the Ashes with absolutely no opening partnerships. Aus was always 2 down before scoring 50 yet still took the Urn. Imagine if Aussies had used Khawaja or joe Burns as the other opener.

Who needs an opening partnership when you have Steve Smith bailing you out? Smith should have kept the urn to himself in the dressing room as without him they wouldn't have come close to retaining the Ashes.

The only reason Australia went back home with the urn was the presence of Smith and the absence of Anderson, flip the two and it would have been 4-0
This isn’t to undermine Australia’s performance though, still had to draw level with a really good English side (Archer, Broad, Woakes is still an amazingly good attack for the conditions) and managed to do it, and it’s entirely possible that they could have retained it with Anderson playing but there isn’t even a theoretical possibility of that happening without smith
No doubt Warner played extremely well in the whole year 2019 except The Ashes series but still I was surprised when he got Allen border medal.( Afterall Ashes means a lot)

I read an earlier comment whereby someone mentioned the Indians will always remember him as the bowler that Yuvray Singh hit for Six 6's, however, anyone would have had a nightmare to look forward to a next match playing and here is Stuart surpassing his 500th test wicket mark and has never ceased to impressed.

That's all he needs, just a bit of seam movement with the extra bounce he gets with his height. Warner misses them straight, but also knicks them trying to leave outside off. Broad just had him tied in knots.
