My understanding of those Kruschovkas were built after WWII when it was more important to build places for people to live than convenience. During WWII whole cities were destroyed. They needed to build as many as they could as fast as they could. We know how that works.

They are in a fashion. The Russians are well they march to a beat of a different drum. At the current time it's not great but then again it's not bad either. Most of the ones making the noise were the ones that love the Soviet Union but despise the Russian people. The High Water Mark for US - Russian relations was during the time of Alexander second and third, Czarist Russia. the relationship soured some when we became the Economic Power before World War I, it runs hot and cold. I would say right now it's lukewarm. Could things be better, yeah it could, Russia is like that second cousin, the one you get along with and not get along with but damn its still family! They got some real problems and it has nothing to do with Us or anything like that, they live in a very very hard place to live too far North, hard to get around, and there are too few of them. They do lots of things well, and some things they just are second to none. They lost pretty much the 20th century and well it's going to take a bit of time, a few generations to right the ship.

@4:29 What is the one that might be a paratrooper's badge of service? It was interesting in that the Cyrillic letters spell out the inverse of the DVD.

      "ВДВ" -- это " Воздушно-десантные войска".
      Yes, paratroopers.

Interesting video. At 7:13 we see Kiwi shoe polish. This is New Zealand bird (Kiwi) and the product is made by Australian company, it is not Russian. Can you give the web site address for the shop? It would be good to see more video like this of different or unusual type shops. Thanks for making interesting videos.

In fact, this is an ordinary small store, but with a little specifics. Even the breakball stores are more aggressive.
