    My brother bought a new Road King while he still owned his 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C90T, all glossy black and highly polished chrome. He called me and asked if I wanted the C90T and I couldn't say YES! fast enough. We worked out some financial arrangements and he delivered the bike to Temecula, CA, while I visited my daughter in San Diego. The pictures of the bike did not do it justice as it was absolutely gorgeous. I rode it back to Salinas in northern California and the ride was smooth, comfortable and phenomenal. After two years I traded it for a 2008 HD Fatboy which I also loved but almost twice the cost of maintenance and insurance. I sold the Harley before I moved to the East Coast. Now after promising my wife, no more bikes, I want to ride again and after 50+ years of riding experience it's in my blood. I'm looking at buying a gently used, well maintained Suzuki C90T...and if the pandemic hadn't hit us like it did I would have been up to SRK Cycles to pick up a nice one they displayed online. Being retired it would be a perfect addition to my driveway.

    Just bought a 2007 C90T basically bone stock with 9500 miles on it as my first bike and I really like it. It's been about 2 months since I started riding it and I can see myself holding onto it for at least a few years. Can't wait to do some tasteful modding!

    I buy, sell and trade bikes.. Have had numerous HD's... I picked up one of these about 2 weeks ago... The C90T is a beast of a bike... I believe its direct counterpart is the 88 twin cam...Every 88 I've had (factory or stage 1) couldn't hold a stick to this bike... I was impressed by the low end torque and agility on the road... This thing moves like a top in traffic. I think where Suzuki wins is the driveshaft being the driving force behind the final drive... It's not a loud bike but that's okay because the compression ratio is ideal when running through the gears... The heads are getting a lot of air and sufficiently cooling things off in the rockers... The fact that the gas tank is under the seat is amazing.. I wonder why Harley never thought to do that....That single engineering component makes it a far superior machine...

      Harley Davidson has nothing that could compete this type of cruiser. This bike could not deal with a Harley on their best day and Suzuki could be on their worst day and Suzuki would still come out on top!!! No contest there!!!

      A lot of fuel related problems from the gas tank. The paint or sealant breaks apart and clogs the intake. The Honda VTX 1300 or 1800 dominates this bike.

    Speaking of looks alone:
    This just happened a few hours ago. I was at Lowes on my new C-50T. A guy approached me in the parking lot, and asked for my viewpoints regarding why I chose "my Harley" over an Indian.
    I actually had to point to put to him: "You are asking the wrong guy this question. [pointing at my bike], Brother that's a 10 year old Suzuki that I just bought for three grand."
    I am not saying that my C-50 is comparable to a Harley. I am not even saying it is comparable to the C-90 in this video. All I AM saying is that when it comes to looks, Suzuki has nailed it.

    Bought a 2007 C90T for my son recently. Paid $1900. It needed some TLC and still needs some more. However, we towed it to Flagstaff from Denver last week and rode 600 miles over 3 days. It was our first motorcycle trip. The Boulevard was a joy to ride (we switched bikes on and off). Very comfortable and not one hiccup. Did fine everywhere we went. Interstates at 75mph, mountains full of switch backs, canyons and city streets. No, it's not a Harley, but did just fine for us.

      When my father and I went to Las Vegas last summer, we stopped by a Harley Davidson dealer. They had a bike in there marked up at $40,000. As I stated towards the end of the video, the point wasn't to say whether the c90t was better than a Harley or not, but rather to show that there are other options available for a lot cheaper that will give a similar experience. Why compare it to a Harley if you can’t afford one. And which Harley are we talking about? Also resale value for that Suzuki in none existent.

    • @autos_in_review
      @autos_in_review  Před 3 lety +1

      It is compared to a Harley Davidson because it is Suzuki's answer to Harley Davidson's touring class of motorcycles. The Japanese touring/ cruiser/ bagger market wouldn't really exist without Harley Davidson. Whether I fork up the change to get a Harley Davidson or not becomes irrelevant because the Boulevard C90t will still be a touring class motorcycle. Regardless of the price, it will still provide a similar riding experience. Therefore, it is still considered an option. It exists to be a cheaper alternative.
      As for which Harley is being discussed, any touring class Harley is fair game. For example, a Sportster is not a touring bike. It's aimed at a different market. Another example aimed at a different market would be a GSX-R 750. On Suzuki's website, the only touring bikes listed are the Boulevard C90t and the smaller Boulevard C50t. On Harley's website they have 14 different bikes listed in the touring category. All of these bikes are fair game for discussion because they have the same design philosophy: To build a motorcycle that specializes in long distance travel.
      As for the resale value of the Boulevard you are absolutely correct. They don't hold much resale value, which is why they are appealing in the used market. You get a lot of bike for not a lot of money. If I wanted a bike with a good resale value, I'd want something that is appreciating in value. One bike that comes to my mind, for example, would be a '78-'82 Honda CBX 1000.

      Because Harleys are the most overhyped, overrated and overpriced junk. They are the least reliable motorcycle and the most expensive. A Suzuki C90 is the equivalent to a Road King BUT for a third of the price and you get the same riding experience with less maintenance. But if you’re living the life of luxury then you may please indeed splurge. Different strokes for different folks.

      @@ssminowjohnson9687 actually Hd factory are reliable the only problem is that they are under powered the only a unreliability comes from people adding high performance kits. Then they are junk if you keep it stock like mine you won’t have problems. I’ve got 55k on mine just doing regular maintenance

      For a cruiser the c50t in my opinion is a good starting point. Before you buy it, sit on it to make sure that the ergonomics work well for you. If you can, take it on a test ride and see how it feels

    🤦‍♂️
    I'm not saying the Japanese cruisers aren't good, but my problem with most of them is they look and act like want-to-be Harleys. Yeah, they're cheaper, but that's for a good reason. They simply do not measure up.

    • @autos_in_review
      @autos_in_review  Před rokem +1

      I agree that the Japanese bikes are copies, as Japanese cruisers didn't really exist until the 80's, but I don't think the corvette vs camaro analogy works. Also I'd theorize that the Japanese manufactures tend to put the R&D into the internal running gear, with things like leather and paint quality taking a back seat. So while I agree that paint and leather quality don't measure up, I'd argue they do measure up when it comes to longevity of the internal components. That isn't to say the Japanese brands are flawless. If I recall, early Yamaha Viragos were known to have issues with their stators.

      Me personally, I'd say no. While the bike handles well for its size, it's still quite large with a curb weight of around 800lbs with fluids give or take. The bike in the video, which is an 05 model year, also has no ABS or TCS

      While it's true that the Suzuki is a bit of a copy, it can provide a similar riding experience for a fraction of the cost. If you have to have the Harley, then by all means get the Harley. Harleys definitely have the cool factor. If I was looking for a used touring bike, I'd actually get a F6C Valkyrie over both the Harley and Suzuki.

      @@autos_in_review I agree HD are nice, but they are over priced. The competition definitely tries to copy, but they have like in most cases improved on the original. HD is the least reliable brand at the most expensive price. Doesn't make sense to the smart shopper.
