the actors killed it! seeing the pilot's actor(nicolas roye) doing his lines was sure as hell a treat!
Really sad that his line when he was mad at Chief right after they crashed, was changed... Well I do like what we have now but imagine if we had that...

@@magnesium3273 In my own opinion I think it's a good representation of someone who's lost almost everything and given some slight hope, until it eventually fades quickly.
Personally I think Nicolas rocked this role, and considering he was an actor already (HBO, I think) this was a near perfect scene by him.

Bruce Thomas's voice is badass, it would be awesome if he comes back to voice another Spartan.

Bruce Thomas has a superb voice for Master Chief. Of course nothing beats Steve Downes but my god sincerely hope he gets to voice another Spartan. Maybe even Chief in alternate media like in a Cartoon or animation.
Sadly he will not get any younger....in 10-20 Years, if there are still Halo Games, they need an new Voice....or the Technic is then advanced enough to perfectly simulate the voice...
@@merkarion7883 if you’re talking about Steve, I have faith that he’ll be alive and very healthy in 10-20 years. By that time though I think halo will have finally finished its long fight.

@Rough Collies Rock Only this guy GETS how Chief should move.... Pablo, should've been coached a little more for certain scenes.... like, during the battle scene mid-way through the season, on Eridanus II, Pablo gets up, after doing the whole ridiculous banshee into phantom thing, as if he's GOING to do the classic move by Bruce Thomas from Halo 4, but instead, he plants both feet, stands up and straightens out in the most awkward looking way possible, and then does a neck crack to make it even worse.
Chief moves a certain way... he's stoic in every movement he makes. Bruce nails that stoicism so fucking well.

thats not his accurate voice i think they just overlayed the final VO over the mocap so it matches in the vid
@@jesse76th96 The Master Chief isn't mo-cap'd by Steve Downes, and you hear his voice doesn't match (though it's still not bad), whereas Darin de Paul's is in mic, that's his performance there my dude.

The Pilot's acting is so good here, even in the game, his emotions are still here and it makes the "Pilot Opening up" cutscene one of my favorites of any Halo game.
Completely agree here, I regularly go back and watchthat cutscene so seeing this side of it is pretty awesome.
Bruce here sounds like a spartan and… unsurprisingly, Batman.
He was Batman for the OnStar commercials back in the early 2000s, as well as for the CW's Birds of Prey TV series.

Bruce would've been such a good Cutter tbh, or even another Spartan more similar to Chief, we can't just throw away Steve, he *IS* the Masterchief, but Bruce's contributions most definitely should not go unnoticed

The fact that you can still see, hear and feel Nic's pure emotion in that scene, even at this early stage. Just goes to show you how dedicated to his craft he is. Very talented man.

In honor of these actors/actress I will replay the campaign for the 3rd time.
I may finally finish it. Seeing how much these people went through makes me proud. I have avoided it
I absolutely agree 1st time normal difficulty to get to know the story and the long journey I enjoy playing for almost 2 decades
2nd time to fill every side plot mission and artifacts
3rd time we'll lets get to Legendary and by what I hear

Dude, believe me when I say that no one can EVER replace Steve Downes. But whoever is doing Chief’s mo-cap here NAILS it.
Having played all the Halo campaigns, the scene of the Pilot's mental breakdown is probably my favorite scene in the franchise. It really shows how humans and the master chief compare. Chief doesn't have much social skills but he still makes an effort to comfort and reassure the pilot that chief himself has made mistakes and is human as well. Chief's silence when the pilot asks him these questions, is more revealing than an actual spoken answer.
Such amazing actors, it's still an amazing scene in mocap.

I love Daren De Paul's acting as Escharum. He very much looks like the character himself.
I'm glad they showed that last scene in its entirety. I think it's such a great character moment and one of the greatest moments in the entire campaign, and in a lot of Halo games, not because of it's scale or spectacle, but because of how personal and pure it is.
Man being an actor for videogames truly seems like fun lol

Nicolas Roye performance is unbelievable good as Echo-216. I also hope Bruce Thomas shows up as his own spartan or marine in an upcoming campaign DLC or something. He has a decent voice
It's brilliant how Bruce portrays Chief's stoic body language. Such subtle movements, yet communicating so much. I love how well he understands the emotional restraint and disciplined background of the Master Chief. How he translates the internal conflict with nothing but a slight tilt of the head. I think he is just as instrumental in bringing the icon of MC to life, as Steve Downes is. Both of them, two faces of one epic coin.
Crazy that Bruce makes a better Chief than Pablo..
My five-year-old niece makes a better Master Chief than Pablo.

I loved the last scene of the chief and the pilot together. It really brought a heaviness upon me and even seeing behind the scenes still made that moment even more special. Thank you for sharing this!
Just now finding out who Bruce Thomas is and he does indeed have a good voice to be another Spartan.
I would like to see every cut scene in this form put together into a movie format. This is absolutely amazing
I would watch the entire thing, this is so interesting. I love seeing things like how the pilot is shaking in the pelican and the ball on Chief's head (I'm assuming to show head height?). Really gives me a new level of appreciation for video game cutscenes
2:58 I'm actually bewildered from the fact that this version of his monologue wasn't used ingame, it would've been infinitely more fitting and menacing
Bruce should have played the master Chief in the Halo TV show. Much more chief like.
This makes me appreciate the campaign so much more. Yes it was short and sweet, and the map got kinda barren. I’ll admit that. But there was some genuine heart. Having a production background and seeing how much passion is out into all of this just.. MAN. I wanna work on video games man. The News sucks.

I try wrapping my head around what makes people hate this scene. In my eyes, it's a tasteful way to humanize chief but it doesn't character assassinate like the show did. I'm sure alot of people can relate to the pilot too, just a normal dude in the end. I don't know what was wrong with this scene other than people just wanting pew pew loud bang bang even tho you just did that leading up. Again atleast its tastefully done well unlike the show.

I haven't heard anyone hate this scene my guy, I'm a hardcore fan, like I'm sure most of us here are and this is genuinely one of my favourite scenes in Infinte, it really encapsulates who the Chief actually is and the hope he brings while also allowing him to slightly move forward with his character progression from all he's been through in the 343 era titles
people really dont stop to think about how the last few games have effected chief.
he watched his friend and close companion die, then come back only to be revealed as an enemy and attack humanity, throwing the entire galaxy into chaos, then watched as the infinity was destroyed and be personally defeated at the hands of atriox, _then_ wakes up 6 months later to learn everyone who survived was brutally hunted down and killed, _THEN_ to have to team up with a literal clone of his former companion and the shriveled husk of a man that is the pilot in order to stop the overwhelming force that is the banished.
at this point its a surprise chief is able to keep going, most people would have given up ages ago.
@@BotBruh448 Dude it's one of my favorite scenes in ALL of Halo. And I don't feel that way about many scenes in 343s games. Cortana's death in Halo 4 is about the only other scene I can think of that's not from Infinite.

I’m currently playing the campaign after not being able to for a long time, and I genuinely love it, I never could actually play a halo game campaign although being really invested and this just feels different, the way chief cares for the bodies of the Spartans when getting upgrades and the open world aspect, the gun mechanics and everyone shits on the grapple hook but it causes some neat ass gameplay moments, the pilot too, a surprising and impactful character. I love it so far I love the little moments chief has where he’s opening up
These actors are amazing I got goosebumps from watching this I wish I could be apart of something like this

This is how I learn that Darin DePaul played Escharum?! How did I not pick that up sooner? That inhuman gravel reminds me so much of Kerrion Stormfell from Legend of Vox Machina now that I think about it.

Seriously love Darin De Paul acting live and in person lol the man has so much energy! even in Interviews when he does the voice of like Ardyn or Reinhardt, like when he was at a con and said this as Reinhardt." CANDY!". and started throwing Candy to the crowd while repeatedly yelling Candy was a joy to watch.

Great Journey! I had no idea they mocaped the faces... Somehow that makes Escharum even more pedant and terrifying.
Also, maybe Pablo should study the faces chief truly makes under his helmet. Both Thomas and Downes clearly had a specific mindset when they voiced him. There is a lot of breathing the moment inward not happening in the show. You can't guess it from only the animation, but now that I see it, it's clearly something we can hear. That special thing we couldn't put our finger on.
And kudos to Jen, of course, so lively. ^^

Live action out pacing the art that it was used to build. Great work guys! I'm not into live plays but this was good! even with the goof suits on still better than the end product somehow.

Love the ball on the extension above Bruce's head, to indicate where the Chief's REAL head is, and how damned tall he'd be. It's one thing to see in game, but when you see a real-life marker and try to picture someone that big...
