CHAOS فَوْضَى x Nexus Exhibition - Germany 2023

CHAOS is an art project by Sameh Al Tawil 2019/2023 , which focuses on the visualisation of storytelling and sounds. The artist is playing live piano sounds that are developed for a 2D/3D visual responses these produce when analysed in real time using OSC/MIDI transmission software developed originally for this performance. With this software, the phase and amplitude of Music signals can be generated graphically and projected on the exhibition’s wall.
CHAOS researches the potential to perceive the invisible multisubstance of data that penetrates our world. It is a sequence of art experiments in diverse forms - audio/visual, concerts, installations, printings and soundtrack releases - that attempt to substantiate and visualise sonic data, Using signals from Al Tawil's digital piano as a main source of sounds and visuals.
This project combines abstract and imitative representations of matters, space and time. [Sonat 1.0] is the first audiovisual performance in CHAOS series.

*Sameh Al Tawil is an Egyptian-German new media artist, who has gained international recognition for his digital art works on contemporary politics and culture in/ of the Middle East. He holds a BA from the Faculty of applied arts in Cairo (Egypt), a diploma of fine art from Akademie der bildenden Künste, Munich, (Germany), and has studied Media Art Histories at Danube university Krems ( Austria).
His work has been internationally exhibited and tackles questions of freedom, religious and artistic identities, and since 2011 he has performed new media works that reflect upon the aftermath of the Egyptian revolution in 2011. He is the recipient of several awards and his work is in collections at Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cairo among others.
