the new show is about Lucia and Kaito daughter but unfortunately the person who wrote the story for mermaid melody is not the same the only thing that is the same is the artist and bkz of that the story is so bad I know this bkz I have a friend that helps translate the Manga and she let's me read it, and most of the things there don't make many sense bkz their daughter is also a mermaid bit she only transformed when she was 14 but the we have the lore of this story wich is that if they get wet they transform but it didn't happen with her, oh well it's a pity bkz for me mermaid melody is a wonderful anime and I would like a proper sequel 😭 the name of the sequel is mermaid melody aqua

I always thought I was the only kid that known this anime. THIS IS A REALLY IMPORTANT PART OF My CHILDHOOD. I can't even find the word to discribe how grateful I'm feeling. This anime shows what a mermaid really is, a benevolent creature that has the upper half of a young beautiful woman with the lower half of a fish that save people, a peaceful creature that doesn't resort to violence, they have beautiful singing voices, but instead of using it to hurt people, they use it to help people.

Oh.my.god. I was singing this ALL the time when I first saw this anime!! I was lucky to be able to understand and speak japanese so I would often teach my friends the lyrics as a lil' kid.
