Beautiful!
I have used this method many times and it works great. When I sew rows or blocks with batting together, I always use a half inch seam allowance instead of the usual quarter inch. I find the seams easier to press open and they lie flatter. I pick designs that using the half inch won't matter. Beautiful quilt!
One year later: l used your technique in pinks and greens. It was a painless process and came out beautifully! What a joy! You are and superlative teacher. Many thanks.
Wonderful!
Thank you very much for showing this way to quilt. You are a good teacher.
You are so very welcome.
Thanks for such a great video. I LOVE that you quilt in your RV! I lived in an RV for over a year and actually put all my supplies in storage. And it made for a more stressful life as I use quilting as a means to relax. Subscribed and will be following you! Have a blessed day!
Clever. Wish I had seen this BEFORE I cut my backing fabric.
Ohhh not to worry now you know for the next time. Thanks for watching
We lived in our RV 24/7 for 14 years and traveled the continental United States and Canada. Along the way I filled every single storage space available with fabric…including the space usually occupied by a generator (we had solar power). Talk about a shopping trip!
Lol I do miss being on the road it was real fun and relaxation just peace of mind
I've often wondered if this would work, but wasn't brave enough to try it. The thought of wasting time and fabric on a failed experiment put me off. You've proved it works very well. 👌 Thanks for sharing 👏👏 🥰
Love this!!! The butterfly backing is absolutely stunning 💖💖💖💖!
Thank you so much!!
I love quilt as you go, and I have not seen the way you have done it which I think I will try next
i have done several more since then but here is another czcams.com/video/kj6BDwBfDQU/video.html
I love the butterfly backing. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome!
When it comes to the quilting, it’s all beautiful. Yours turn out just like that….beautiful. Thank you so much,
Ooh lovely scraps happening for another fun project..luv the quilt..🇨🇦
thank you
Great video, thank you.
Cheers
Thank you for demonstrating this quilting method. I really love your fabric choices. The fabric patterns are different from what I have in the United States. I have a quilt top I made several years ago, that still needs to be quilted. But I cut the squares again for another fabric strip down the middle. Take care, Marion in Oregon, U.S.A.
Thank you Marion happy quilting
BRILLIANT QAG technique!! The quilt is beautiful and I’m inspired to try your technique….without those pesky joining strips ! Thank you!
Hi Kay, that's why I came up with it, those strips just tooo much.
I don’t know how you make so many quilts! This one looks so fun. Now I have another quilt on my list to do! Thanks
Oh I don’t how know my self lol but I guess I’m excited to finish so I can’t leave it alone
Cute idea. We all have our little OCD’s mine is fabric must be ironed first!! Thanks
Yes! Thank you!
I like QAYG because I have limited room here at home - so I really appreciate you taking the time to make quilting videos in your caravan! It must be very tricky.
Hi Judith Yes tricky is the word I have to be very organised and cannot make a large quilt but it works so I’m happy
@@CraftyQuiltingDesigns Well I think you’re doing amazingly, and hope you’re enjoying your new life in Australia!
I wish you showed how the backing went on. Love this idea.
check out another quilt it did in the same idea full details and pattern also . just click the link czcams.com/video/Zt_J9IpzLsE/video.html
Thanks!
thank you, wow this means a lot thank you so much I feel honoured.
Beautiful fabrics, love the pattern. Simple and easy to adjust the size and looks so nice. It would also be good for those prints you might want to feature. Thank you for a great tutorial!
Thank you! 😊
I so enjoy your lessons!
Thank you, Sindy and thanks for, buying the pattern.
Your quilt is awesome. Looks easy. Never thought of quilting as you go. Might have to try this. I usually send them out. Thank you!
you are very welcome.
I love your quilting. I will say that it seems that you are quilting twice by not putting your backing on at the time of quilting. Thanks for sharing your techniques
Hi Carla I have made changes to the technique since this vid do check it out and let me know your feedback see link czcams.com/video/Zt_J9IpzLsE/video.html
Just Beautiful!
I watched it again and I still love it.😊
Well it’s time to make one lol
I love this quilt and will definitely be trying this qayg method. Karen, the more that I watch your channel, the more that I love it. Welcome to Australia, and I hope that you are loving it here.
I am Maxine, thank you so much, my hubby asked me does Australia feels like home & I said yes it does, you are a gem, really... you are.
Very beautiful quilt. That brown flower fabric is my favorite too, until you turn the quilt over to those gorgeous butterflies. A different method to what I've seen before, haven't tried any of them, but this is an interesting idea. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! once you make it like this you won't go back, what really surprised me is the fact that it was done so quickly, I never liked the other method, nor did I try them felt the process was way too long. check out my other QAYO VIDS LINKS BELOW

I love your descriptions. Makes it very easy to follow. I am in Shreveport Louisiana USA
Awesome! Thank you! Hello AND WELCOME TO MY CHANNEL
I’ve always been leery of “quilt as you go”, because of dealing with all those strips! I really believe I can do this! Trying to quilt a full quilt on my machine causes me a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I’m going to try your method on my next quilt. Thanks so much for this. Your quilt is wonderful.
Trust me you will not look back its so much easier
Beautiful quilt. Nice job
I so much enjoy your quilting process and all the wonderful tips you give in your videos. thank you so much for sharing. I am setting up my sewing room and then I will get the nerve to try this technique LOL. I want to learn the quilting process, still nervous to try but I'm going to take the first step and try it.
You are so welcome!
This quilt pattern is like one my mother made. All baskets and flowers were different color combinations. I really admire your talent.
Thank you very much
I love this quilt! Thank you
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL QUILT AND YOU ARE A LOVELY LADY .

Thank you, that was a very quick, easy way to do QAYG. I only made one before, but excited to give this method a go. Cheers from Lisa - Sydney Australia
Hi Lisa that you so much do enjoy let me know how you get on
This video is sooo helpful. I cannot wait to try this method of quilting on my next quilt!
You are so very welcome do enjoy
👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi! I've tried nearly every method of quilt-as-you-go that I can think of, but never have I tried this. WOW! I especially love how you quilt each row and THEN add it to the previous row, genius! I'm getting ready to put my 16" blocks together and this time I will try this method...many, many thanks in advance for the great tips and for sharing this method of quilting on a home machine.
You are so welcome do check out more of my QAYG videos for more ideas on making a larger quilt on domestic machine
You are so bubbly it is refreshing to see.
Thank you, Valerie, lol my husband says to me sometimes.... baby simmer down..... you are tooo excited...can't help it, but i think he is used to it now lol
It's beautiful
thank you
I suppose that the density of quilting may affect the length of each block when it’s time to join. I must say your quilting is lovely!
Thank you the density makes the quilt itself flatter and can shrink the batting but yes it can still work
Thank you for your suggestion
Am always amazed with your skills and techniques in making wonderful quilts, the patterns are so beautiful such warm summer like colors, thank you for showing myself and others how quilt. Keep up the excellent work!
Thank you mummy
Very pretty! You made it look easy for a new quilter like me. I'm going to make this. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you yes it’s very popular
You are welcome
Been thinking about another way to join the rows….make the first row just the top layer, and then assemble all 3 layers, with backing as well, as a quilted row. First row is like an unbound table runner.
Assemble the next row of top layer blocks, top layer only, and cut batting and backing the same size needed to form the next row, but now the fun part….
Put your pieced top and batting right side face down onto the top of the first row, align these, and then pin with the backing fabric right side facing up, to the back side of the first row, and stitch the seam. 🤔The layers will be: batting, new row top pieced layer, right side down, previous assembled row topside up and already quilted, then backing, right side up, wrong side to the table.
Then flip the pieces for the second row away from the seam. Your seam will be enclosed, no need for strips. Smooth down the layers, part the seam fully, perhaps trim the batting inside a bit to remove bulk (suggest only a thin batting for this) and organise so it’s smooth, press, pin and quilt it. You can also quilt over the area of the seam you’ve just worked.
This method does mean your backing goes on in strips as wide as the rows, but the quilting should disguise the fact. You only ever have the width of one row under your machine, but it will grow as wide as your quilt, to the left of the machine, so you need space for that.
Hope that’s interesting to you. Another use for stitch and flip technique
Yes have a look at this QAYG as I did it differently czcams.com/video/pyku4tsxvEA/video.htmlsi=MMVq_Ab1InKfvbls
This is really lovey so simple yet makes a beautiful quilt I can make this actually instructions are clear and the pattern is really helpful thanks once again.KAREN YOU ARE BRILLIANT.
You’re welcome 😊
I love this.
thank you
Enjoyed your video tutorial. I will be trying your technique! Gracias from Dallas, TX 😊
you are welcome.
Thank you for sharing your work. Im going to give this a try.👍👍
Please do you will enjoy the process
Love the quilt. On my to do list. I am a reasonably new quilter but I was just wondering about you comment about what side the batting should face to the top. I have researched it a bit and I am to believe that if you do not face it the right way up it may pill and fluffy bits may come through the quilt top. Not sure if it is correct but would like to hear your take on this. Thanks Desley
That’s cheap batting or blunt needles that will cause this reaction if the needles is blurting it rips that batting as it’s not a smooth piercing through as it’s quilts the same for cheap batting as it will it be constructed with long lasting quality fibres
GREAT job. Like your ideas on this pattern.
Thank you
Thank you
I love that pattern yours looks very beautiful
You are most welcome and thank you
Lovely , and looks easy todo. I am always looking for easy quilts to make. It’s uses up my stach😅. Thanks for posting.

Learned something new
Never seen this method before and certainly one I will be trying with some orphan blocks I have. Thank you for the video! I have subsribed.
Have fun! wonderful to hear you will love this method. thanks for subscribing.
Hi all, I am a newbie at quilting. I am by no means a seamstress. I like dappling in things. I recently started attending a quilting group of church ladies. The quilts they have complemented blew my mind. Now I am ready to try quilting. I love the idea of “row quilting “. I see that you did the “quilting-embossing“ before joining the rows. Is there a special pressure foot ? As I stated I am very new.
I will be releasing a how to quilt video on Saturday make sure to watch so that all your questions would be answered thanks for subscribe welcome to the quilting family and this addictive hobbies
On my channel you will learn lots do check out other videos to help you learn more.
Beautiful quilt! Disappointing that in the final step you end up with adding the backing and having to deal with quilting the entire quilt -not something that I could manage.
it's not as difficult as it looks.
Love your quilts and the designs and materials are very beautiful.
Thank you Carol😊
Love this! Another great video!!!
Hi Barb Thank you so much
Your fabric choices are always so gorgeous! And, the quilts turn out so beautiful!
Thank you ❤️
Love your accent!!!
😊thank you
This is my first video of yours I have watched. I love that you are sewing in a camper!!! I knit as we travel but quilting would be great!!! Beautiful work
Hi thank you so much for your wonderful comment
My neighborhood doesn’t allow structures of a certain size so a she shed has been out of the question for me. I have been researching small campers and fifth wheels thinking I could park it next to the garage and move the messy part of quilting to a camper and use my sewing room as organized storage. This has been the first day i have watched your videos, also.
@@seasmoke26 great idea actually I once watch a CZcams video where a camper was the sewing/ quilting room they bought and old one and fix it up it look so beautiful so it can work
Just found your channel.
Looking forward to tge videos
Hi Elizabeth welcome to my channel
I like to use Best Press on triangles- heavy to keep them from stretching out of place
I will try it out
beautiful
Many many thanks
So great to see my subscribers and newbies look at this quilt its just so easy to make a whole quilts using this simple method simply fast and fun
Seeing you press onto the batting, I’d say be careful not to have your iron too hot and melt your batting if it’s synthetic!
No it’s cotton
Your quilt is so beautiful! I’m new @ quilting. I’m slow at sewing my quilts. I have health issues, anyway I love quilting. I am a new subie!!!
Hi thank you for subbing if you have any question when you decide to make one of my quilts please free to ask I’m always happy to help. Welcome to my channel
