    Here's a cool piece of trivia. During the filming of Part III, which saw an appearance by awesome rock band ZZ Top, a scene that included the aforementioned band encountered a delay because a piece of equipment malfunctioned or otherwise wasn't working properly. So, to kill time while it was getting repaired, the band took requests and played. After quite a while of this, someone came up to Zemeckis and asked if the equipment would be fixed soon. He replied, "It got fixed nearly an hour ago. I just didn't want to stop the party." Awesome.

    • @char1ie965
      @char1ie965 Před 3 lety +9

      I think you get that feeling solely because of Crispin Glover shaping the ending

    • @killwalker
      @killwalker Před 3 lety +19

      Similarly, George had the confidence to write his Sci Fi novel..and likely other literary projects, leading to a comfortable lifestyle.
      "Standing up to bullies will give you confidence." Thats what I got from it.
      Often leading to confidence that leads to some level of success in life.
      Also Marty (The Protagonist) gets what he wanted through divinity or destiny or however you want to look at it. Getting the 4x4 wasnt a greed based reward. Marty saved the lives of his family in different ways. Changed biff into a more respectful, more humble person. Saved Doc Browns life. Inspired Chuck Berry to completely rip off an unknown artist's work, note for note..lol. Aside from the Chuck Berry thing, which was really Marvin's doing, Marty was being Heroic and brave. His actions helped his parents become less about image, more about family (Lorraine), and Self Confidence, Self Respect (George) leading to a less dysfunctional family. (Sister is a bit of a slut, and miserable. uncle in Jail. George a pushover. Mom Depressed alcoholic).
      So I disagree with Crispin Glover's assessment of the end of the movie.
      I think he just didnt want to see a positive message, and thought his fame(haha) would allow him some control of the ending. He didnt get it, and acted like a brat afterwards. Even David Letterman couldnt stand him. And he liked almost everyone (not Jauquin though lol)

    Crispin Glover's account of the contract dispute is wildly inaccurate. Zemeckis, Spielberg, and Gale have all given detailed explanations of what happened. Basically, Glover wanted to be paid more and have more lines in the sequel. He also had his own ideas for how his character should have developed. Glover wanted his character to become a cool, hip guy.
    Glover and his agent knew B2TF was a huge hit and thought they could negotiate their way into getting what they wanted, but from the point of view of the directors and producers, their demands were just too high. As time went on, and B2TF 2 began shooting without Glover having signed a contract, Glover and his agent continued to play hard ball. Eventually shooting began, and Glover still hadn't been signed to a deal. Approximately 2 weeks into filming, Glover and his agent realized the studio wasn't going to give in to their demands and suddenly they went crawling on their hands and knees... but by that point they had already soured their relationship with the producers. Zemeckis and Gale had already re-written the script, accounting for Glover's absence. The whole thing became a huge headache for the cast/crew and a failed power-play for Glover. His career never recovered.

    • @lookbovine
      @lookbovine Před rokem +3

      I’ve heard Gale give different accounts. Not so with Glover. Then they did steal his face and mannerisms for part II rather than completely recast like with Marty’s girlfriend, so it turned out they did need him and he got paid by suing their pants off, so he ended up on top.

    • @letsgo214
      @letsgo214 Před rokem +1

      I find this a one sided version of events. I honestly loved Glover’s performance and let’s be honest, the studio had more than enough money to pay an actor. The studios only showed interest when Robert Zemeckis made "Romancing The Stone" and it was successful at the box office. This convinced Universal that Zemeckis could direct a successful film, and took on BTTF.

    Fox was in his last season of "Family Ties", and still would have to film both (FT at day, BTTF2 at night).

    Back to the Future is an awesome classic movie. Crazy to go so far into production and recast the lead character (Eric Stoltz to Fox), then recast Jennifer and have to refilm the ending to match the sequel, and the whole Crispin Glover drama. The latter: just show up to work, shut up, and be happy to be there. Everything else will take care of itself; a way to wear out your welcome in Hollywood is to not be an A-list actor, and offer an unsolicited critique of the director and Steven Spielberg's story. There's something just so natural with Michael J. Fox that it's really hard to imagine someone else in that part.
    I rewatched II again and it makes me laugh when Marty goes to 2015 and he is in awe "The future..." And now imagine him seeing the real 2015. "It really doesn't look much different other than people are fixated on their handheld devices which are apparently phones and computers all in one".
    I'm no neurologist, but if you're working around the clock and have a latent neurological disorder, wouldn't that aggravate and possibly increase the chance of it occurring? i.e. Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's.

      Here's your first fact, the producers wanted Jim Carrey to do voice over acting after he finished his scenes as the mask because the teeth were so large, they feared he wouldn't be understood. But he trained himself to talk with them so well, that it was unnecessary.

      Stoltz has never been known for comedies. He's in his element of it's drama, or such. Real life related. I'm surprised he never went for military roles, for I'm sure he could get the military bearing down very well. Or even historical or a serious horror like Jacob's Ladder.

      YOU AND ME BOTH!! Have you seen the American Dad episode 'DeLorean Story-an' where Stan has one and Steve goes with him cross country for the door to try to bond and the whole time he's referencing the movie? That's my FAVORITE episode for obvious reasons:)

    "how do you take one of the coolest character's in movie history and make him a dufos" You should ask Kathleen Kennedy, she did it for an entire cast.

      Exactly. If Luke could find good In vader after all he's done how could he instantly want to kill his nephew just because he's dreaming and actually hasn't done anything bad at that point???🙈

      @@Toneloke-3000 I hate what Kennedy did to Star wars but supposedly it was because the Emperor was influencing him.Which I don't understand how that could happen if Luke was supposedly an all powerful Jedi Master.But then again in the prequels the entire Jedi council was fooled by the Emperor. I can see the logic in all of it but at the same time it's Bad lazy writing.

    I have a back to the future video game for the Xbox 360. A special feature on it has a interview with Bob Gale. He said that the basis of the game was a original concept for the part two sexual. It was set during the prohibition era.

    I feel a back to the Future 4 was such a missed opportunity. They showed us a cool train time machine and then never made a movie with it!? Wtf
