DELL LATITUDE E6400 take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly

  • Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your DELL LATITUDE E6400 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
This video is like insurance for your laptop. With this video and some skills you will be always sure that at least you can try to repair your laptop. If it's broken you don't have to sell it or throw it away. You can find some new or used parts somewhere and change it. It maybe will be your new job or hobby. And if it didn't worked out you still will be able to ask somebody else to fix it.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
    Have fun and good luck!!

You are welcome! You know, for example HP had some videos on how to replace some easy things like keyboard etc. But some of their videos are so out of reality. On one Probook model to remove a keyboard is like a torture. It is not only screwed but also had some hooks you need to push thru it. If you look at HP video, technician removing that keyboard like a breath, like there are no hooks at all...

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  Před 3 měsíci

Hi, to replace the hinges, you would need to remove the screen/upper part and take it apart and replace hinges. Please be careful, because this laptop is very old and due to age many plastic parts become very fragile.
Also, you don't need to remove many parts before removing a screen, most likely the keyboard and heatsink with the fan will stay in place. I removed the screen somewhere in the middle but you just need to unscrew it and unplug wifi, video cable and maybe webcam cable if it is separate. I didn't watch it thoroughly to see where the wifi is plugged in etc, it should be relatively easy to remove the screen only.
Another way is to use it with an external monitor without fixing hinges ;-).
Make sure you have the correct hinges first in hand. Mark all screws about where they are coming from and so the assembly will be easier. Take pictures also, especially how cables and wires are placed. If you do such a repair for the first time - believe me, as many pictures as possible are very helpful.
Last but not least, it could happen, when you take apart a screen, some plastic parts would be damaged (bezel, screw holes on the back cover) ... Before repair try to find a complete back cover with hinges and bezel, just in case ( price wise could be the same but tremendous value if needed.)
