I was married to a covert narcissist for 26 years who tried to destroy me for hating my beauty, confidence, independence, success etc He allowed his Mother and jezebel attack me on my back. If I may ask…how in the world did you survive 26 years ? I was in a Karmic Cycle / Situation ship with my ex covert narcissist for 9 years!! Recently No Contact for 4 months. Him and I share a child. In which I now have to watch him abuse her through lies, manipulation, and gaslighting. I’m trying to expose his true self and lies, so my daughter and I can break free!! Coverts are the hardest to expose, as they slide right under the radar. It’s like, does this hell on earth ever end?
I’ve also spent 26 yrs in a marriage with a covert female Narcissist. ( now divorced) I’m still trying to separate the normal from the abnormal common sense reactions to who their personality disorder presents. They CANNOT accept responsibility and shame for being wrong in any way. I am an introvert, so lacking outside evidence was evident. So surviving this by acknowledging that they are prone to never give into accountability for their abuses, never apologize, and never believe that I am not wrong about anything. I’m still deciphering how I should see my incredible strength, by being rational, understanding and loyal. 😊 I have given way more than any normal relationship would have required. I see overt Narcissists everywhere now. My determination to finally confront them, was my blessing. Understand that their massive amounts of insecurities will expose them.

In short, we deserve protection by those who would hurt us, even though we are blind to the ugly truth about their true intentions. You are so right about them flying under the radar, behind a mask, in deceit. Is it really our fault to not recognize these people could be so cruel? Or can we recognize our spirit is so innocent, that we didn’t know to look for it in someone professing their love to us? I laugh when I think I should’ve seen them as an enemy instead. How? Lol not my fault, and therefore the universe protects me from them, and justice will be served. So less humility and more just faith. I can’t control them or the people on their team. I did a cord cutting last night, my candle was unaffected. Hers, well, it burned so hot that it melted all the wax quickly, then the flames started lashing out, trying to reach me and my bowl. My space. It couldn't. The flame got brighter and hotter, clinging onto the twine and the paper. Burning the salt itself and cracking her vessel. Given that I originally cut her off for inability to control anger and intense focus on negativity and trying to be the arbiter of karma, this makes perfect sense. Shit was intense.

This person is my mother. I’ve actually done a cord cutting earlier this year. The problem is, I come from a large family so I can’t completely cut ties with her. I had to see her yesterday because of my sister’s housewarming. Completely cutting her off would mean cutting off the rest of my family.
