We've MOVED IN to our DIY SPRINTER VAN

- Hola Amigees!
This week we moved in to the sprinter van. It has been both challenging as well as exciting. Don't let anyone fool you by saying there's a ton of room in a van because... there isn't. It's a lot like when we moved from the house into the bus. There's definitely an adjustment period getting used to the space and learning how to navigate it with all 4 of us inside.
That said, we're in love with every detail of it and cannot wait for the adventures we'll go on.
We're setting our sights on Madison, Wisconsin to visit family and from there we plan to do a few small trips around the state before deciding where we head next.
Life is good.

We're Mariajosé and Chase. In 2018 we sold our house, moved into our self-converted school bus and took off traveling the United States. We sold our bus, bought a new-to-us Sprinter Van and we're doing it all over again. If you're new to our channel, subscribe & stick around. We're excited to have you here. If you enjoy our videos please let us know, give us a like and drop a comment down below. If our videos just aren't for you, we understand and hope you find what you're looking for somewhere else!
#vanlife #sprinterconversion #fulltimenomad
Look beautiful without makeup! I agree, hard to sleep with it hot. The van is looking fantastic.
Thank you Richard!! Chase is crazy way too hot 🥵
But you have to hydrate the coconut coir first! 😛 🥥 there’s many videos on how to prep and empty the Nature’s Head. I mentioned it in a comment below, but you can use the same Nature’s Miracle enzymatic spray for your pups. We’re mammals, it works on humans too! 🤗
Do you have a thermal curtain yet to separate the cab area?
A suggestion for the next road trip, since our Canadian border is rumoured to remain closed way past the end of October... drive to Utah and go help Trent and Allie, they have to hurry finishing the walls and roof of their own mountain cabin before the snow! Along with Luca and Sara of leaw, you two and Trent and Allie are the most genuine, no-hype couples online - I’d LOVE to see that connection! 😁👌🙏🚐
So exciting to see the beautiful COUPLE, AND VAN. I watch you and Emon and Bec every Sunday!
You're the best! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks MAnuel! You are the best ❤️❤️
I love how the dog was in the passenger seat and the hubby was in the back working, lol.
Your evening around the fire with family looks so wonderfully cozy! Just lovely.
Lorraine it was so so nice! Just very relaxing and really enjoyable ♥️
We have been using a natures head toilet for 2 yrs now. To process coconut coir you will need a tub of some sort. I add about a gallon of water at a time. Let it sit til it completely absorbs. It will crumble off. Once its crumbled then you will want to let it sit and dry out, after it’s dried out we put it into the cat litter buckets. One 10lb block of coconut coir will make about 4 buckets and each change of the coir will take about 3/4 of the bucket. But for us we have space since we are stationery. l suggest you only process a part of the block at a time or you will be carrying a bunch of extra coir and taking up a lot of space. Some people once its dried back out put it in gallon bags. We do not put toilet paper in it. We have a small trash can in the bathroom for it. What we found is that if you dont have the fan running and it vented out the window it will stink. So that part is important. And every few months you will want to clean the entire top where you pee at. There is a scum that will build up in there. I hope this helps...
Congrats on the new van... May you spend many happy miles wandering!
I love how you and E&B both used rattan caning for your cabinet doors, but ended up with very different feeling interiors.
Wow you know Eamon and Bec !! I love you van guys you did a perfect job ! Yessss please meet up with em when border will open
The coconut coir is dry to very hard. Add water to it to break it down. If you don't want to use the entire block in one go (it yields a lot), break off the required about before hydrating. Good luck!
Great Van build! We use Coco Coir & or both Peat Moss, yes you have to hydrate Coco Coir 1st, I use CC to amend my potting soil also in our Composting toilet. I had Poision Ivy rash after handling Peat Moss from Canada- comes in a green bag @ Home Depot so be aware. Go Winter in Az like most Snowbirds, we'll be there Dec-Mar. Stay safe & have fun!
Sounds like Chase might be getting sick. Perhaps an extra blanket for him and lower heater temps for Mariajosé?
Adrienne Lawrence it’s that cold air! I think it’s just sinuses adjusting to the very cold weather here vs Nashville. We’ve found a happy medium, heater on low, fan on low, roof fan cracked so it doesn’t get TOO hot.
Painter’s tape (the blue tape) is a great way of covering up bright electronic lights.
I have never tried coconut cuore in my "Nature's Head" toilet. I always use peat compost that is cheap and readily available from any garden centre here in Spain. No problem breaking that up to put into the toilet. I find the compost section very good for not smelling. I am less enthusiastic about the Urine bottle. I believe some "van lifers" connect a tube straight to the grey water tank. I remember a family that live in a bus in New Zealand did it, and said it was good.
So happy for you to be on the road again. There’s always that adjustment period to any new home, no matter the size. You guys work and play so well together you’re a joy to watch! Love you guys! May the road rise up to meet you and the wind be at your back!
😎✌🏻🤙🏻🤘🏻😎
Thanks Doris! ❤️ You are so right. I wonder how long it will take us to get use to the small space again, to be honest today the dogs are loving it.
Yes on helping out Eamon and Bec!!!!
That's because a coconut coir has to be dampened so it swells.. That way you can easily pull it apart.. you use a piece about a 3rd the size of the bottom of the composting toilet use then you pour a couple cups of water over it wait for about 30 minutes To swell and absorb and then you can break it up..spread around....
I know a lady who has a ban conversion and she uses the pet bedding for hamsters with multiple trash bags stacked in. When she uses it she just put a little more of the bedding stuffing in it.
yeeeees this is amazing, feels very authentic. I look forward to catching up since I just came across this channel. One thing: pls get the dogs car harnesses and turn off the passenger airbag. Even a small accident (someone brakes in front of you etc) can make the airbag go off, and it would instantly kill a non-human-shaped passenger. Or even if it didn't go off, slamming into the dashboard would be bad, too. The best ones are Kleinmetall Allsafe and the Sleepypod harnesses, as far as I'm aware.
I love how honest you guys are about Van life and admit when you’re having a sort of rough day. Sometimes I feel like I could never because I’m not that upbeat optimistic person all the time. Love the van and love you guys! Would love to see u guys back with Ramon and bec
Yes join Aaron & Bec at the cabin. Love the build and your channel 👍
Yes come to Canada 🇨🇦 .... it’s cold so bring your coats!
Yesssssssss!
Oh we will LOVE to go to Canada. What part of Canada are you from?
Calgary
PLEASE, buy a doggie seatbelt, I bought one at Petco, one side attaches to the dog’s harness and the other end has the metal tongue that goes into the van’s seatbelt buckle. Great built btw!
I love 40’s. I turn off the heat in my house, and open the front door, I have security doors, and turn in security system. Awesome to sleep like that.
I like how u made the van and turned it into fantastic and elegant one.. new subscriber here from Philippines... GodbLess and be safe aLways..
Yesss... Go to Canada!!! I would love to see that
I’m so excited for Van life
We are too!! 😁
Yes, Yes, go to Canada and help your friends. Life time experiences
Oh that will be so much fun!! We hope the border opens soon so we can quarantine in Canada
This adventure sounds like tons of fun and lots of lessons to be learned for your next “big” move.
More please love your show from uk London and love your two dogs be safe out side
The van looks great! Really inspiring us to finish our build so we can hit the road. And we agree with you on taking it slow and not doing crazy amounts of driving at once. That's how we plan to travel!
I laughed out loud as Chase tried to say he washed the GoPro mount and scissors, haha. Glad your first days on the road and in the van full time are going well! We are planning to see family in Wisconsin and Minnesota in early November and we still haven't put a heater in... getting to be crunch time!!
The van came out so amazing. It is beautiful.
Thanks friend!!! ❤️
I love your honesty and frankness with the challenges of adjusting to this new space and lifestyle. Before long the van will feel like a palace. I think it must be a wonderful feeling to know your home is always nearby, as you travel and see the world. Now that you have caught up with family, you may want to travel to Vermont/Maine and see the fall colors. Or do what I would do and just follow the heat and head south! :)
The boarders need to open ASAP as the last house swap with Eamon and Bec was amazing... you guys are so adorable and so positive! Congrats on finishing the build... now, time to come to CA!
Yes please go to Canada to help on the cabin.
Yes to going to visit E&B!
I’m excited for you, at the start of this next chapter of your ongoing Van life adventure. I am SO down for you to go visit Eamon & Bec in Canada (eventually)... but if it’s cold now hmmm, not sure you are going to love a Canadian winter experience in a fixer-upper cabin in the woods. But with E&B you know it’s going to be fun/great food.
Love watching you guys get settled in the van. I think you should come back to the south. Our winter isn't really winter till about November. Come to Alabama 😊 we've travelled alot of places on the motorcycle and areas around Fort Payne are beautiful.
I would love to se an episode with both of you with Eman and Bec alone with Trent and Allie. It would be super cool. My 3 favorite CZcams channels.
SO HYPE TO SEE EAMON AND BEC!! AANNNDDD SO HYPE FOR THAT REUNION!
Van swap 2.0 Whooo Hooo! Looking forward to that when the borders open.
That will be the best am I right???
Awwww
Definitely hook up with Emin and Bec. Would love to see a trip to Canada. Really good to see Pablo and Jake again! Pablo looked so handsome in his sweater.😉
Yes go to Eamon and Bec in Canada.
Look forward to following you on this journey starting in Wisconsin and beyond.
Happy to have you come along with us in this journey! ❤️
One of the best van designs! Looks so organised and well thought out!
Arizona... PERFECT WEATHER RIGHT NOW!...plenty of room in my house for you to park...fenced in!!
Hey there neighbor 👋 Sending you good vibes from Chicago, just a jump over the State line! Enjoying the warm cozy evening fires with family, good food n drink sounds like the perfect way to end the day. Happy & safe travels 🤎🌾🧡🍂💛🍃
On the road! Great, wish you all the best! Wonderful places, beautiful views and peaceful moments! Enjoy the VAN! 🇧🇷
Hey- maybe go visit the Matney’s? They are socked away in their home base down south. Might be fun for both of you and not quite as cold as it is in Wisconsin right now.
Spacewise the bus was a mansion like you said but travel will be so much easier and parking will be a breeze. It is definitely going to be an adjustment to the size of the van plus you guys have not been in the road for several months. How are your PRECIOUS Furbabies acclimating to being on the road again and in a different space? Give them so hugs and kisses from me please. 🐾💗🐾
ps: Besides using the Vinegar water spray we also add 2Tbsp Baking Soda to the Urine bottle-it'll help break down the built up of calcium deposits while it's collecting.
Yay, found you guys on Eamon and Bec and now I see them on your channel... Awesome!
I want to see you guys with Eamon and Bec
Living on a bus is one thing. But living in a van is insane. I love it tho! So good for you guys tht decided to do this. I wouldn’t be able to do it but it looks like SOO much fun!
Everything looks amazing God speed Amigos😁👍
I'm glad you're out and about worrying about life thing's you never get to enjoy the outdoors..Yes of course you need to take cear of yourself and love one's but I'm just happy for y'all..Keep safe and stay healthy guy's..
❤❤❤❤❤
Chase, bobo, real lemons and limes have a peel on them. That stuff in the plastic bottle doesn't qualify as real anything. Up your game and surprise MJ with a lime you actually cut and squeeze, her life will never be the same. Van life doesn't mean you have to sacrifice everything!!
Hopefully you've moved on to somewhere warmer so you can lose the sweater, and not be freezing every night. Safe travels!!
i think real lime is the brand name.
I am glad you are dealing with the much smaller living space. I personally would never full time in that small a space. I wonder if you ever miss your awesome bus?
Can't wait for u guys to swap vans again, its gonna be amazing
You guys should go up to the Upper peninsula before it gets too cold!
Put a beanie on it Chase😂 your head that is.I love Amen and Beck! They were my first Chanel I followed .
Hi, Chase
It is only fall. Come to Arizona it is still 103F here. I am so done with the heat. I would love to be in Wisconsin and put layers if cloths on me. I love that you are cold, and complaining. It's so cute, beautiful van build.
We also follow Eamon and Bec.
Well I'm in Southern Arizona and it's over a 100゚ right now at 5:30 p.m. So there are plenty of places in the South that are still pretty hot in October. Our weather report for the next 10 days at least shows a 100゚ or more.
The layout of your van has grown on me. I like it!
Será espectacular verlos junto a Ramón &Bec voto porque sea pronto... La Van quedó espectacular Felicidades 💞💞💞💞
Hi Chase and Maria Jose I want to see the Canada trip. Hi from Puerto Rico. Blessings 💚💚
Wowowow i also watch eamon & bec. You 2 couples are amazing 💚🥰
Have you tried peat moss? I think it’s easier after being hydrated and it smells lovely.
Nice. Safe travels you two.
I’m sure someone else has already told you, but you have to hydrate the coir. Then it breaks apart easily.
Yep! I watched a video on how to do it before attempting, but only chose to break enough of the coir block first. No tools, hands only. It was a long process haha
Waiting for next video. Hope all is well
It has finally been posted! They were going to post yesterday instead of Sunday because of limited cellular service when they were in northern Wisconsin according to what they put down on their community tab.
Great work with the van- it's pretty vantastic. I'm sure that you'll get used to your tine home on wheels. But it surely is quite a change for the bus- But it's so much easier to get around. I'm sure that Eamon and Bec will need a lot of help with their house, so head north to help them around. Else go south to Florida or ohter states with a mild climate. 👍🤗☕💐
So cool you are going to see Amon and Bek I have been following there looking at a hose on the lake.
New subscriber here from the Philippines! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 you guys are cool and amaaaaazing! Keep safe!
Van looks great moving into it takes some adjustment - also everybody says be very selective of what you are bringing as space is premium.
Carefull with kitchen knifes cutting onions looked iffy - happy it ended well 😊
Yes to Emon&Bec😃👍🏼
What a great adventure you are on!,,
It would great to see you guys get together again with Eamon and Bec..... but wait till it gets a little warmer for Chase's sake!!!
Its been so weird not being able to go back and forth between Canada and the US!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come to Brookings Oregon......camp out at the Sporthaven or Harris Beach......you love the southern Oregon Coast...we call this the banana belt :)
You guys are going good...😍
Love from India🤩
what size is your van?
If you are wondering where to go next.....venganse para Texas! Lol 😆. It finally cooled down here. Today we are going to Matagorda Beach in Matagorda, Texas. My wife and I live 2 blocks from the Gulf of Mexico! I enjoyed this video because I graduated from High School in Jefferson, Wisconsin. We used to go to Madison alot! Saludos Amigos!
Aloha everyone. Have a good 👍 😊 day and stay safe.
You too friend!! 💕💕
Space was small already and they brought dog that also 2 of them dogs. It looks lovely but I know it's full of daily life hardship and compromisation till you get use to that van life.
Great video, so happy for you guys! You should check out Chicago 🌃 before it gets too cold 🥶
Awesome video thanks back on the road again yeah sorry we will miss you guys this year
Hey Badge! We’re so excited to be back on the road. We’ll miss you this year, but promise us you two stay warm. Keeping our fingers crossed the borders open so we can see you as soon as possible
New subscriber here!!! Looking forward for your adventures!! I hope you guys adjust well ❤️ Excited for you guys to collab again with Eamon and Bec!!!
Beautiful places, beautiful faces...that is perfect❤️
Awesome job❣
Best couple in van life
Kentucky is beautiful this time of the year ♥️
Not used to seeing the tight quarters you kids are in now.....I'm missing the bus for you right now....I understand it had limitations but comfort was not one of them. Best wishes to you all.
Remember to watch the urine level. It fills fast, it is the smelliest of the process and easier to empty when half full!!!
Super good call out! The pee tank is by far the worst of the whole toilet. We’ll be keeping a keen eye on it.
What breed is Pablo he's so cute we are looking for another dog for our other one and his breed looks so cute
Congratulations on the van! Looks great!
Yesterday, in Orange County Ca, it was 100 F. I can't hardly believe you're cold. Nice fire.
Hola chicos que adorable pablito con ese sweater lo ame besos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
4 minutes in before I saw the small dog!
Mariajose, nature’s head needs to make the part of you using it as an ad. If I was to get a van, you definitely sold me on it.😁 Can’t wait to see your adventures 😁❤️👉🏼🇨🇦
I really love you guys, you make me happy
