AnueNue - The Brand New 100 Year Old Moonbird?

  • Hey folks, this week I have the pleasure of comparing the modern classic AnueNue Moonbird UT200 Tenor to the updated UT-330 model which has an artificially aged (torrefied) Spruce top.
Given that the Torrefied wood top adds an extra 20% to the price of the instrument, do you think it's a worthy upgrade? I personally prefered the sound of the UT-330 after playing them back to back, sometimes differences are subtle but there is unquestionably a difference here... what do you think?

To my untrained and unsophisticated ears - 200 “sparkly” vs 330 “mellow”. I think that the 330 sound would be well suited to ukulele jazz music.

So appreciate the showcasing Alex, clarity and a little more sustain for the 330. They are both a dream Uke. Have a great week.

Prefer the torrified one. The notes have amazing clarity. Personally i think it sounds amazing. Although to be fair they both are.
Just need a lottery win 😉

Agree with you- the 330 has mellower sound. Kind of a bit more Hawaiian sounding, almost.

A fine instrument. Nice looking. A plucky sound like a soprano with the warm depth of a quality tenor. A successful blend for sure. A pleasure to listen to.

Hi! Both are excellent instruments, and the Moonbird is on my "dream list" for quite a long time. The newer version looks nicer and sounds more round to me. Thanks for the video. Best regards from Poland (hot and stormy today).

I have a Moonbird, so I guess I'm biased (it's my favourite uke), but I think if I had the extra cash I would probably go for the UT-3K over the 330. Oh, and love the "reverse shirt" look!!

I have the US200 and US330. Definitely can hear some difference. But honestly unless you have both to compare. I personally felt both sounds great. 200 for sure has more brightness to it. But price difference is almost S$1K. Got it from Taiwan Anuenue flagship store

The " older " uke sounded harsher to me...😢

330 sounds sweeter and much more full in rich tone, IMHO. I would try a 330. THE 300 doesn't interest me.
