Definitely test drive the MDX Type S. You will LOVE the air suspension. The clear winner of the two. As I always do, find one that’s one or two years old and save 20 grand. A used Acura with 10K miles is, as they say, barely broken in and the warranty is transferable. Who cares if it’s the latest year when it’s exactly like last years model.

I'm original owner of 2008 MDX. 300hp V6. Great handling system(SH-AWD). Aways plenty of smooth power on demand. 16 years of headache free driving tells it all. All original on my vehicle except 4 sets of brake pads(420000km). I'm waiting and hope for hybrid plug in version of MDX. If not, this vehicle will take me to 20-year mark and then I'll be looking for new replacement.
    My vote is on MDX,

I would go with the Acura MDX for that naturally aspirated V6. I know Toyota had been doing turbo engines since the 80s now but their new lineups (Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia, and RX) have been recalled for engine defects. For a car the size of the TX, it would need at least 6 engines to help haul family and cargo especially in the winter time.

An excellent presentation and fair comparison. I plan to purchase an Acura MDX Type S in 2025 which will have a new infotainment console with current technology according to a recent announcement by Acura. A touch screen is expected and that ridiculous dated touch pad will be eliminated. In my opinion, the Acura MDX Type S has a more stylish look and should be more fun to drive.

It has the 3.5L naturally aspirated V6.
We had 3 vehicles and decided to sell our older low mileage 4WD pickup and our Forester Touring LEMON and bought the Toyota.
My wife’s Outback has low mileage so she will be driving it for another 10-12 years before it needs replacing.
I drive only 6-7K miles per year, so in 20 years my 23 Tacoma will have less than 150K miles.
I’m getting long in the tooth, so I’m sure that I’ll keep our (my) Tacoma until I die. My wife will then have to be using it to plow the snow off our road to the county road.

It’s very fast once you get it down, and you don’t have to move your hand, lean forward, or smudge your screen. The people who rant about the touchpad haven’t used it for an extended period of time.
