    My great uncle had these growing up in trees in Florida.

  • @morrisparkintheozarks6831

    The selenicereus are beautiful when they flower!!! Just kinda like dragon fruit cactus they love to ramble! I've decided to grow my dragon fruit cactus up a cedar trunk I cut and put in my greenhouse to hang orchids and hanging cactus on. It likes to ramble too much and has started to take up a lotta space. Tried to put it in a cage but these climbing cactus just out grow them in a heartbeat!!! So I figure grow it like nature, up a tree and then it will hit the rafters and hopefully bloom & fruit!!! And the way it's growing it shouldn't take long!!! Can't wait to see the selenicereus bloom!! Show us! Show us!!!!!😃👍 from Morris park in the Ozarks to across the Emerald isle hope you both have a wonderful day filled with plant adventure!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌴🌻🌿

      @desertplantsofavalon  Před 4 lety +1

      Thats a FANTASTIC idea to plant your Dragon fruit on a Cedar trunk in your greenhouse to grow and wrap itself around as thats how they like to grow in their habitats, it would be amazing to see your Dragon fruit in bloom in the near future, we have some Dragon fruits but they are still small and going to be moving them outside in the coming days once the chance of any frost has passed :-D we are so excited to see the buds on the selenicereus and s looking forward to the blooms, we are praying the buds dont drop off LOL! :-D thanks so much for your wonderful Friendship and amazing support and comments and for watching Clyde, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Deb and the pets and plants all lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle to Morris Park in the Ozarks for a super filled plant powered Sunday ahead XXXX

    Hi!
    Wonderful video! So amazing that it flowers after a gap of 15 years! I have a question about my opuntia ( ficus indica ). It has developed som kind of a thin flakey skin that falls of when you touch it. It’s mostly around the areoles but at some places over whole areas. I have noticed that the “skin” is only on the side that is not facing towards the window. Do you know what this is? Is it bad?

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  Před 4 lety

      So happy you loved the video :-D yes some of my Opuntia also produce this scaly flaky skin that comes off very easily, I think it may be due to environmental factors and as the plant ages, it doesn't seem to harm the Opuntias at all and many of mine that do this have been doing this for many years and they have not come to any harm, I think its definitely more of an Aesthetic thing with them
