I am begining to think that the rule in sweden that noone can own more than 49 percent of the club and the remaining 51 percent is actually owned by the members of the club. Yes our fotball is not good enough to get teams into the cl group stage, but it is ours.
The difference between Birmingham and wrexham is that wrexham is on disney plus and the two owners was smart enough to be nembers of the community(check out robs reaction to them singing happy birthday to him). *Money* is ruining football, full stop !
Players demanding and getting paid each week sums of money that would make the average family secure for life if they got it just once.
Transfer fees that force clubs into the "unsustainable business model" area unless they have the backing of someone with a questionable background.
It being so vital to qualify for certain competitions in order to reap the TV money that players are expected to gain an advantage by blatantly cheating, claiming for non-existent infringements when a goal is scored against them, surrounding and shouting at the referee when a decision doesn't go their way, etc.

Its not like Brian Clough or Alex Ferguson taking over teams and taking years to build them into giants. In Germany, by the way, football clubs must be owned with 50%+1 share by non profit sports clubs, so controlled by its members. (50+1 Rule). What I find interesting about this is Actually there are multiple reasons why these billionaires appear to have bought into Football. For UAE it is green washing, For Saudi It is buying Tony Blair's favourite team to thank him for helping with their vision 2030 plan, For Todd Boelhy he's seen Brighton find obscure players, develop them more and sell sell them at huge profits etc. But what I think you missed is that Tom Brady's involvement at Birmingham is actually better compared to Lebron James at Liverpool than Wrexham. Jim Ratcliffe on the other hand is looking to copy City Group by adding Man United to his INEOS teams which already include Nice and Lausanne.

Jim was born in Manchester, is clearly a football fan, was at the 99 treble final, and was first in line to buy Utd the second it entered the market.

Seeing the news that Qatar are looking to invest in Spurs and that we are considering accepting their investment has made me very nervous. How often do these investments stay as only an investment and not result in a buyout? It would break my heart if one of these states buys my club and it would end my support. Michael Spicer and Jonathan Pie continue to keep me tethered to a bit of sanity & rationale that are steadily being depleted by the general state of affairs worldwide; I am thankful for such "voices in the wilderness." It is a bit of a shame that both are parody/comedic voices that tend to aim at skewering the harsher socioeconomic woes under which most of us suffer rather than report upon them while investigative media & reporters simply turn a blind eye. Ah well, at least we are entertained. 😐 Regardless, I salute them both, and I will keep on watching. Cheers!

The scandalmongers podcast recently discussed corruption at Manchester fc. You give a brilliant capsule critique of an entertainment business I knew little about. Ratcliffe's cycling team is a failure; yet a visible global advert for Ineos. Thx Mickael

Manchester City are ruining football since they were awarded 115 charges and they still want to win every trophy every year. Everton and Nottingham Forest are the 2 teams that are also avoiding relegation and to stay low key by the Premier League.

I’m not a sports fan and can’t get into football at all but sympathy goes out to real fans who see what’s happening to their teams. Perhaps they should go back to their roots - jumpers for goalposts…

How can City fans live with themselves, PSG fans, Arsenal fans? All these mentioned clubs are supported by the middle east, stop talking about Newcastle as if they are the only club owned by a questionable regime.

Brilliant Michael. Couldn't agree more. Football is a very useful diversionary tactic so while the fans are absorbed in some important game, there are sinister things going on behind the scenes. Aye, they need football....

Mind you, the “star” footballers should also actually try playing football and do less acting on the field. pretending being injured, rolling in excruciating pain… until there is a card shown… and then just nothing happened… wasting time and making the game look like a b*tching contest between the most well paid players on the planet…
i believe that smaller budget teams play better football than the big ones because they go for it, they want to play and want to win with actual football and not winning an oscar for best suffering performance in 90 minutes.
