Hi Kenny, Great videos as always. Can a VCA control the send fader in the send window? I wan to control the send via a fader to throw to the verb or delay when i want to. I would like to do this without using an audio routing method to another channel. Just want to control the send fader from a mixer vca fader. Thoughts? thanks Ron
For the folder example the FX Return track created at 4:25. Should that not be an FX send master? In other words that track would be used by inserting effects and then sending to Master or another buss. The problem remains the same in that it receives signal before the Group's control. I get that part. I guess the confusion in the name of the track. If it were a return then the signal would be coming from an effect or another buss that has an effect inserted. I guess his point was the folder is a Master Volume for the summed tracks in it but the point of control is after the "send" for the effect.
This actions or tricks hi is explaining don't consume any processing power as long I'm concern. Reaper is so low CPU consuming that I try it with a 18 years old lap to and it works
By the way Kenny, how would you set up a Sub-Master track template? I don't like touching my Master Track but I also like using an L1 at about -0.2db to avoid any clipping when transcribing. Would you just use a parent folder track or VCA's somehow? Thanks!
@@REAPERMania If it is absolutely required to change words that completely describe the relationships, please pick words that have the same meaning. A leader can tell people what they want them to do, but a follower is not obligated to follow the leader. The words lead/follow do not properly describe the relationship that is happening. Would anyone seriously object to this quote? "Let's not be a slave to the latest fad to change the English language?" Regardless of the connotations, the current long established word pairing is the best to describe what is actually happening. And no, primary/secondary doesn't work either.
So this isn't related to today's video, but ive been wanting to move over to reaper for a while now. I recently bought a new mac, upgraded to Catalina and then realized there's some issues with Catalina and reaper. I need to know if it's still worth it to buy reaper. Not sure what to do, so if someone can help me out I'd be eternally grateful.
REAPER has gotten some updates especially for the new Metal-API that's on Catalina so maybe you just missed the new updates when you tried? So update and try again :)
Can't say enough how much I appreciate your videos. Virtually everything I need to figure out with Reaper is explained on your channel.
You can just shift click the fader on the lead track to so it resets the volume without affecting the follow tracks

So in order to still have the ability to collapse a group of tracks... it would be best to create a VCA Lead track that is also a Folder... correct?

No, you're not. This is the same video as VCAs or VCA Master Tracks in REAPER uploaded ten years ago, that is hidden now.

download the Reaper for Catalina and install it. You have 60 days to try Reaper anyway. You will not regret it if you take the time to learn it.
