      The big problem was that she didn't do it correctly, which is the major reason it didn't work out for her. Imo if you don't do something correctly you can't form a real solid opinion of it, whether that be good, bad or in between.

    Hi, Matt and Megha: What bothered me the most about this Gabbie Hanna chick is the fact that she didn’t bother to research ANY medical information regarding the background of the Ketogenic Lifestyle. Why on earth would someone start any diet if they don’t put in the research behind that particular lifestyle? When I learned that the Ketogenic Diet was established in the 1920’s at the Mayo Clinic by clinicians and researchers stymied by their inability to help children suffering from both petit mal and grand mal seizures as all they had to help their patients was fasting. Who wants to starve a child? They used glucose restriction to help their patients greatly reduce their grand mal and utterly eliminate their petite mal seizures...until the anti-spasmodic meds hit the market in 1938. The same clinicians also found that this diet helped prolong the lives of Type 1 diabetics as well.
    I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and found Keto through Dr. Sarah Hallberg from her TEDTalk on how to reverse my (and my youngest son’s) diagnosis. Four months and forty pounds later, our A1Cs had dropped from over 9 to normal at 5.0. That was in June 2016. In April 2017, we found the Stage 3, Class C (just on the cusp of Stage 4 or “terminal”) breast cancer. I KNOW that we would never have found the first tumor if I hadn’t lost 40+ pounds and my skin was soft and my flesh was pliable. đŸ’ȘđŸ»đŸ˜đŸ˜
    I advised all of my oncologists (endocrine, radiation and surgeon) that I strictly follow a Keto diet (especially after learning how a PET [positron emission tomography] test is performed...patients follow the Keto diet for 24 to 72 hours prior to going in fasting and receiving a bolus of glucose injected via IV and then scanned...cancer cells steal the glucose for growth) and it vastly helped me when I was undergoing chemo (paclitaxel, pertuzamabab and Herceptin). I didn’t need the full six (6) chemo rounds as I had 100% response to the chemo cocktail with only FOUR rounds as well as only needing minimal radiation instead of the thirty-three (33) rounds which I’d been originally prescribed. đŸ’‰đŸŒĄđŸ”ŹđŸ€’
    I healed RAPIDLY after my double mastectomy (prophylactic as my type was aggressive and known to come back in different organs). The best part? The phone call from my surgeon who choked up when he read the pathology report that all...every single one...of the 20+ cancerous tumors in my lymph nodes he’d removed from my right ancillary region and right subclavian area were dead...”scar tissue”. He’s not used to delivering that type of news to his patients. đŸ€•đŸ˜·đŸ˜”â˜ ïž
    Dr. Thomas Seyfried, professor of biology and genetics at Boston College has published medical criteria (United States National Library of Medicine: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5324220/) helped me understand what I already knew...the Ketogenic Diet helped me kill my cancer. I’m NED now (“No Evidence Detected”). đŸŸđŸ’•đŸŽŠđŸŽ‰đŸŒžâ€ïžđŸŒșđŸ’„âœšđŸ„ŠđŸ„‘đŸ–đŸ—đŸ„©đŸ„“đŸłđŸ„š
    I wish this young lady had put as much time in researching this diet as in her editing and posting of this video as she may have, inadvertently, helped people who may be diagnosed with cancer to dismiss its myriad benefits, including fighting Alzheimer’s (recently categorized as Type 3 Diabetes where areas of the brain are no longer able to metabolize glucose and those sections die...never to function again, or for Depression, Austism, and Parkinson’s. She really, really, really needed to think of the greater good instead of the number of views she’d received = $$$ in her bank account. People’s lives are at stake.😰

      @Mizzbadhairday Pƙed 6 lety +1053

      Gabbie, your response shows that you to not understand how keto works, or even how your own body works. When she said that you've been running on carbs all your life, she meant that carbs were your body's energy source (as is everyone's who doesn't do keto). Keto takes time because your body has to produce what it needs to use fat as energy, instead of carbs. So, despite your dieting history, your body was always using carbs as energy, and you felt terrible because of it.
      In the end, you should at least really acknowledge that you failed to properly research keto and what you experience was more reflective of what happens when you do "keto" wrong.
      Also, I started watching these two before watching you, and as one of YOUR subscribers, I'm embarrassed that your response is so emotional and defensive when it didn't have to be. But I guess it's consistent with your brand.

      You're in a good place with food and I think your experiment may have triggered you to when it was bad.
      But like I said in my original comment to your video, I think you would love it if you gave it a fair shot. I'm not asking that you do it again, I'm just asking that you take the time to learn.

How is it okay to talk about someone so rudely (AEB tone, body language AND words of these two) and Gabbie cannot respond without being called defensive? She's clearing up a lot of hastily made points in their "reaction" video. Also she clearly did not personally attack them (unlike they did, specifically the female), she's just defending herself. Is it open to conversation or is Gabbie supposed to just be silent about it all? You go Gabbie for being yourself who speaks her mind respectfully!

    So since everyone here is attacking Gabbie in the comments I’m here to defend a little bit. While the commentators are being pretty fair they know nothing about her. They themselves say “well maybe she normally eats healthy” “she needs to tell us what she normally eats” “she knows nothing about her caffeine addiction”, if you did a little bit of research on her you would see the lifestyle she normally leads and where she’s coming from.

      She does have “the background research” she’s been living a healthy lifestyle for the past year and seen results. There is no instance where extreme restriction is healthy. I’m sure there are people that work with Keto but it is not going to work for everyone. You can not be mad at her for not being able to do this extreme restriction.

I think it’s still disappointing that Gabby didn’t do research on this diet because it honestly is a great diet and I’d hate for someone to not even try it because of a video like hers. I truly believe that all our bodies are different and if she felt unhealthy on Keto then it just may not be for her. In the past I’ve tried to be a vegetarian and it worked for a while but it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. I wouldn’t tell almost 2 million people never to try to be a vegetarian because it didn’t work for me. I just wish she wouldn’t have gone so hard on saying that Keto is a terrible diet.

The only time its recommended is for epilepsy and only while the person is still a kid. Never to lose weight or be a long term diet... because its not healthy and we dont know the long term effects yet. Atkins was once held to the same health standards as keto is now... and Atkins lead to renal issues and even renal failure. Ive also studied this diet... and it is essentially putting your body in a metabolic state for long periods of time and intentionally causing malnutrition.

    I was slightly turned off by this video because I felt like you didn’t know enough about Gabbie & her channel, which maybe would have helped because you would have known about her health/weight loss journey. But at the same time, even I knew she wasn’t giving keto a fair chance. She literally ate nothing, and she tried to blame it on keto. You need to ADJUST. No one is making you go 100% in except for you, so why don’t you go a little easier on yourself. She genuinely thinks she ate enough fat, and I saw very little. I think you’re right though - the word “diet” in the name really gives people the wrong idea. Even I had the wrong idea about it, and I realized that through your comments in this video. I’ve been eating less carbs than I was eating, but I haven’t been intentional with any other part of my eating. I’m going to watch some more of your videos to learn more.

I agree with Keto Connect that she is a HUGE influencer and is leading a lot of people in the wrong direction. It’s misrepresentation, and while Keto may not be for everyone, it could change someone’s life for the better. It has mine! Like you, I hope Gabbie addresses this and tries again. I would love to see her do a collab with Keto Connect! I also wanted to add that I understand your point about Keto Connect knowing nothing about Gabbie and her fitness/health journey, but in a way it is ironic bc she literally knew nothing about the keto diet and made a review video about it anyway, which is exactly what they did as well. Christina Neily lol so your response is not biased? Your comment makes no sense. Also there is a ton of things they made a negative comment about Gabbie, but then provided no examples. I went back to listen and learn... the amount is alarming. They made many assumptions based on... well not sure what it’s based on since they don’t even know who she is. Saying people with sugar cravings are “not normal,” is pretty demeaning and inaccurate. Laughing at mistakes she made while shopping and actually trying to get it right or understand it. If they did even a tiny bit of research on Gabbie... you know... to understand why she makes the choices that she made or knowing how she typically eats... you know, kinda like her video called “what I eat in a day.” If they had done even 5 min of research on their subject again which is Gabbie... you know kinda like they expected her to do , they would have seen her weight loss journey and maybe been able to give a better analysis about what she did and understand her choices and they could’ve given constructive criticism... this video def did not seem like that which was super disappointing.

    • @Tesis
      @Tesis Pƙed 6 lety +15

      Alycia Wilson lol where did they say that PEOPLE with sugar cravings were not normal? They said that SUGAR CRAVINGS were not normal. And notice how they say that some people consider it to be the norm, but for others it is not a norm - they were flexible even in that.
      It was a reaction to her keto attempt (not actual healthy keto, it wasn't) so they look at THAT not at HER specifically so what is the point of research about her activities? It's not about what kind of person she is, its about the fact that she made statements about something she never actually understood and did wrong - in unhealthy way which led her to feel horrible and miserable. The video is basically not about her but about her try and their analysis of that try - that is all.
      But if you try something that affects your health perhaps it only makes sense you research it deeply before you fuck yourself up by it; basic understanding of nutrition is needed for those who play with different kinds of eating. So it didn't make sense that she didn't do any of that and then when she felt bad she claimed the diet is unsustainable and "how can anyone do it long-term". But yes to unhealthy - because what she did was not healthy at all.

    • @blarmy827
      @blarmy827 Pƙed 6 lety

      Tesis like I said... they made multiple ASSUMPTIONS about different things she would have or have eaten. They took time to watch 30 seconds of her music video and ask if it was a joke, so clearly maybe they could have taken 30 seconds into her “what I eat on a day” video instead so instead of making inaccurate assumptions about her and her everyday diet then they could be a little more informed since this was supposed to be a helpful video reaction? Also never did they define certain words or things that she should have done just point out what she was doing wrong and never giving things she could have done in that moment to make the better choice. Yes they definitely did give few examples but with little explanation. Unless they’re just reacting to someone popular to gain views then I expected more actual info about keto which they didn’t do. Saying sugar cravings isn’t “normal” considering we are in America, I’m pretty sure that is fairly common and not some far out craving that not many people have . “Some people consider it to be the norm, but for others it is not a norm,” makes sense to you? Lol like some people are men and some aren’t... like I said... not informative so I’m pretty sure that’s not something they needed to be “flexible” about. Honestly their video was just as damning to keto as hers was in my opinion... I didn’t learn much about it from her video and not much about it from their video... the difference is that their channel is keto based, hers is not... so obviously I would have expected theirs to be, instead of laughing at her mistakes even though clearly she put some effort into it, would have been more beneficial for their channel. Also basically calling her a liar because she said she had never heard of keto just shows again the ego they have which is so off putting... because regardless of what she said in her video she still gave keto a huge boost by doing it... people like me who have never heard of keto were introduced to it... her review may deter some people, but not all... and like they said she has such a bigger following... that at least more people will look into it and see if it was for them. I get it, I’m a fan of Gabbie and defensive because of how fragile she is and what a dark headspace she’s in.... they don’t know that and don’t know her and didn’t say things to hurt her or being her down... But I think how defensive I or even other fans have been about this video ... they were just as defensive about keto and made their reactions more negative than it seemed they should have been. Can’t help the fact that they’re passionate about keto, obviously Gabbie isn’t lol which is why most people got pissed as soon as she asked if Gabbie’s music video was a joke... because that’s her passion. That triggered all her fans clearly. But to each his own and I’m not trying to hate on them because of one video. ✌

      chicole would’ve been better if they offered more constructive critiques on maybe common mistakes or misconceptions people make about keto, and things most people find hardest to train their mind away from thinking to help them be successful. But at least Gabbie gave this almost a week before drawing a conclusion, unlike them who watched 30 seconds of her music video calling it a joke and determining how good of a singer she is before judging her as a singer. You know... also doing their “due diligence” by learning about the topic of this video which is Gabbie... just like they commented on her video of expecting her due diligence with keto. Seems pretty ignorant that they made a lot of assumptions about who she is, what she eats on a normal basis, the type of CZcamsr she is, and that she puts everything she has in her videos. clearly from her making tweaks to the next days of her video she tried her best to make it work for her even if she didn’t like how she felt with it. No one said EVERYTHING they said was mean or judgemental, however there was quite a lot of negative comments based on their assumptions of choices they thought she made with knowing nothing about her. But hey, to each his own right. I’m def a Gabbie fan so maybe a little defensive, and didn’t think they really gave very good explanations or alternatives for her mistakes. Izzy I disagree.... on I think the hatefulness came from the way she represented KETO. She made very hateful, direct, unprofessional, opinionated and even mocking statements. She starved herself then blamed t on the food she did or didn't eat. She put herself out there. So it's no ones fault she didn't do her research first. I honestly feel as do others that someone some anti Keto fan talked her into doing it. She should be more aware of what's she's getting into before representing it. KETO, ADKINS, HCG, OMAD, INTERMITTENT DIETING. Anything, you commit yourself to represent. I hate to see just what she would do or represent if paid enough. Before you knock me. She is the one who put herself out there unprepared. Her review was very unfair and for that reason has upset a lot of people. And the negative feeds are not only on this site.

    Honestly, I watched about 2 min of Gabbie's video and I couldn't anymore. She ate pretty much no variety of anything and nowhere near enough calories to sustain herself and her workouts. Like duh you're going to feel like shit and be starving....because you're starving yourself. *face palm* That's what was so irresponsible. Even after she "quit" and hated it she should have done the research and said "this is what I should have done and i would have felt better". Even if she was doing a vegan diet if she did zero research and didn't eat the nutrients needed to fuel herself properly she would feel bad. Her entire video was such a shit show.

      @Griff_Lo Pƙed 6 lety +3

      Jodi January What exactly do you disagree on? I mean at the end of the day it doesn't matter who her video was geared towards....it was irresponsible. If she did the tiniest bit of research she would have known she could eat the blueberries that she "cheated" on the diet with all along. Keto isn't a ZERO carb diet , its a low carb diet. She didnt count her macros to make sure she was eating enough to sustain herself and instead of bitching that she wanted fruit with her breakfast she could have actually had fruit. She had it in her mind that she was going to be miserable and she was. Just like the coffee video she did. She was going through withdrawals of caffeine and couldn't handle it and quit in that video and in this video she was going through withdrawals of sugar and couldn't handle it and quit. I really dont see the point of these videos when she's half assing it and miserable instead of doing research and feeling good and finding actual benefits beyond her looks.

    I wasn’t going to comment, but I am anyways after Gabbie said something that really struck a nerve in me. I’ve been diagnosed with SEVERE hypoglycemia since I was 17 years old. Mind you, it was so severe that my blood sugar only gets to a 80 if I’m lucky. Not only that, I have a tumor that needed 90 radiation treatments to cure, and it’s still not gone.
    Now as I’m watching this, I’m listening to Gabbie say, “I physically felt my blood sugar dropping.” I’m sick listening to her and can’t bare finish this video. She’s got so much fame, that she will say whatever she can to be over dramatic. I was really starting to like her, until she had to be so dramatic with the blood sugar and how she felt her first couple of days. She’s a QUITTER. I started this diet a week ago and have felt so good. I’ve worked out to be stronger than my cancer, and fight everyday with a toddler on my hip. I don’t have the money Gabbie has to maybe try her “fancy” diets, nor would most people on this planet. So the fact that this KETO lifestyle is very well changing my life for the better for my son and I, but is changing others lives as well. And of course with me already having severe hypoglycemia, this KETO diet really makes me low. I’m not giving up, and will have NO excuses. Because if someone can do it, I CAN DO IT. It’s not for everyone, but Gabbie, this really could change people’s lives. Please understand that’s how some of us feel. Sorry for rant!!! Had to say it!

      Swedish Metal if you looked at the end of her video she does say that she gets for some people the diet can be very helpful in treating illnesses and that some people love it, she personally just didn’t like it. Everyone is different.

      Lol, she is a quitter! Unfortunately, most ppl don't have the discipline to get through the tough part of adjusting to a new diet. Sugar and carbs have made a lot of ppl sick and fat. Gabbie's vid did not help, because she justified her own addiction and led others astray.

      Swedish Metal Keep going! Proud of you making a decision that works for you. Keto is so good, especially because it’s an anti-inflammatory way of eating, which is awesome for tumors.
      God bless you! Praying for you!

  • @miriamnayelifigueroaherrer9811

    Gabbie's video was my first introduction to the Keto diet and despite all she said, all I did was think to myself "Oh, I'm desperate enough to go through that! A week of pain is nothing compared to 9 years of back pain"
    Now I'm searching for videos on this diet like crazy
    This one is one of the most informative ones despite me clicking it for fun!

    I think the reason most Keto dieters are negative about this video is because she is all out trashing the Keto diet. I wonder who paid her to do this, because this one week, no research approach is not fair to the diet. She is an actress!!! If she was truly interested in doing an educational video she should have done much more research and then do a video. She already had her mind made up before she did this. Not a real experiment. And there are several doctors that are Keto...Dr. Ken Berry to be specific. And he IS NOT selling anything!!! She was very reckless and irresponsible.

    • @tired6971
      @tired6971 Pƙed 6 lety +4

      She's not trashing it. She's not being paid. She said it didn't work for her and she was trying to show her experience. She said she didn't want to do too much research because she might get an idea about it and it's skew her thoughts about it and she wanted it to be genuine. She just didn't choose the right way to do it.

    People are so mad about the music video comment. Why..? She clearly thought it was a joke because a lot of youtubers make "joke" music videos that aren't meant to be taken seriously CC "Everyday bro". She didn't say the "is this a joke" in the insulting way. She does not watch her to know how much work she put into it. As they said the video wasn't about Gabbie it was about that video, hence why they also didn't watch the whole thing. Get a grip. Also, people are saying she needs to "lost her ego"... Do you see who you're defending? Gabbie literally said from her own mouth the only ones of the "vlog squad" that actually was working on themselves was her and liza, that's why they all dropped her, she's a complete narcissist. You guys aren't too bright.

      Kate it does have 17 gms of sugar per serving, which is pretty high. Not added but natural, I get that. I think the point is that everyone will have to detox to some degree.

      PRESTA GRABER but it’s also natural sugar. I find demonizing foods leads to a negative association with food and causes people to go from one extreme to another. There is nothing wrong with eating watermelon and if you watched her other videos on when she lost Wright and got more active she really wasn’t eating a ton of sugar per day it appears more she was getting all her macros in and if you are an obvious ectomorph like her and young then I don’t see why she’d need to be on the keto diet especially when most obese related diseases have more connections to processed foods than they do natural foods.

    • @briandemarest6222
      @briandemarest6222 Pƙed 6 lety +4

      +Kate - Natural sugars do increase your insulin. Insulin is inflammatory. We simply don't need sugar or simple carbs in any form. Is natural sugar in fibrous fruits better than processed sugar? Sure. Does that make it healthy? No, no it doesn't.
      In the end, there's nothing in fruit we don't get from non-sugar foods.

    I hope the Keto community is not turning into a troll community bashing other keto dieters for applying the diet regiment based on their dietary needs. If it’s working for them them why are you concerned 😟 Be happy for them. All this fault finding, murmuring and complaining is like a boil on the Ass! What’s your personal opinion got to do with others doing what is best for them? Eh.... For God’s sake stop being trolls about others free will choices. If you want watermelon eat it. If I want gumbo I am going to eat it without hesitation and adjust my macros according. Life is to short to not enjoy eating what you like every now and then. Tomorrow’s not promised. Keto is flexible that’s what makes it sooo awesome đŸ‘đŸ»

People are not commenting for no reason. She should have gone about her video differently.

    Wish she would watch this and give it a go with actual information about Keto for 2 weeks. But whatever...
    I went to a seminar where they compared a study of S.A.D. and high protein diets on diabetics. The presenter tried to respond to a Keto question (someone else asked) referring to that study. My hand shot up "✋excuse me, point of order!" I went on to kindly advise them that referencing keto within the scope of that study was a disservice - not what the study presented at all. Keto is high fat, MODERATE protein and low carb. The study pointed towards more of an Adkins diet, and they are not the same. We have to rebute fake news wherever we see it/hear it in all aspects of life!

    I'll admit I felt terrible the first five days on keto. Then I stopped working out, started taking one a day multivitamins, drank one powerade zero a day, and increased my fat. In the past I was low fat, low calorie diet. My doctor suggested low carb due to my newfound food allergies. A week in and I stumbled across your CZcams channel, and bought two or three keto cookbooks. The most amazing thing happened... I felt amazing! My distended stomach (that I thought was fat) went away. I didn't have problems going to the bathroom. I still struggle with eating enough fat because I've always had a low fat diet. I love your channel and I like that you address this.
