  • It’s June 29 2024 and went out today side scanning the submerged river ledges looking for brush piles from long ago fallen trees. Man the water was way rougher than thought it was going to be. Managed to find some real nice brush piles along the drop offs then turned around and looked them over with livescope. The crappie were there until the thunderstorms came in and ran me off. Lots of rocking and rolling but still had a good time livescope crappie fishing.

    The crappie fishing has been on fire in the brush piles and so has the temperature here in Mississippi. Hope you enjoy the video and leave a comment on where you fish and strategies you use and what you would like to see.
    Thanks for watching!

    Absolutely love the video and your boat set-up looks very efficient. Do you mind sharing what size boat/motor that is you have and what lake/how big of a body water you are fishing? I’m looking to purchase a rig later this year and trying to gather some ideas of a best fit. Thanks in advance and Tightlines!

      Welcome to the channel. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. My boat is a 1990 Tracker 17 pro that I bought brand new. It has a 60 hp Johnson out board. On the bow I have a Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor My livescope pole is diy. It works very well.
      The lake is Ross Barnett reservoir. I’m not sure the actual size but it’s quite large. Gets rough very fast. It’s located in Madison Mississippi close to Jackson.
      Now that I’m older I would rather have a fiberglass boat for stability. But, my boat is a crappie machine. Hahahahaha
      Welcome again and don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching

      @@601Crappieawesome and thank you much for the info. I have already subscribed and will stay in touch. I actually live in Clinton and have been thinking about a 17 or 19 footer so that I can fish on the Rez. I would also like to occasionally go up and try Grenada, Sardis and Enid.

    What are you using to keep the boat still in the wind while fishing the piles?

    • @601Crappie
      @601Crappie  Před 12 dny

      I have a Ultrex quest on the bow and a small Walmart Minn Kota on the back for brakes. I put a momentary foot switch on the front deck to work the brakes on the back. Sometimes I use them both at the same time when there’s no wind to keep the boat straight. But the spot lock is the cat’s meow for sure. Thanks for watching. Need anything just ask. Jimmy

    What size jig head and split shot was you using.😊

      I use a 1/32 oz jig head from bass pro. Crappie Max minnow head with double keepers. The split shot is a # 5 oval lead. They fall pretty evenly together with out tangling.
