“I was not expecting that. But I was expecting not to expect something, so it doesn’t count.”
Sonic 1 movie reference, I mean....🎶I am the eggman🎶
I watched that scene yesterday and... wow. I definitely did _not_ expect that, even if it makes sense in hindsight. o_o

Hey I remember you!
Fr😂
If they brought back the original genesis games just to add them to the Gens bundle, it would make buying a bundle much more worth it. It would also just make a lot of sense over all
Nah. I think the most they could do is include Origins in the bundle.
If they just included CD in the bundle, I'd buy it without a second thought and be a happy camper.
Honestly, I feel like this is a perfectly fair compromise. While I personally wasn't going to be affected by the delisting (I have Generations on the Series X with a physical copy), I am ardently against companies using games as a service that can be taken away rather than permanent goods.
This compromise lets the modding community and people with the OG Generations keep their work without negatively affecting the sales of Sonic x Shadow Gens.
Which essentially kills two birds with one stone. And there's a possibility that mods will work with the Sonic Generations portion of the remaster, with a few tweaks being made to ensure compatibility.
Guess I won't be sailing the seven seas then....
Of rhye?
Arr!! Me scallywags think Denuvo should walk the plank. All me maties think Denuvo is Worse than me carbon collection!!
@@fan_thomas1945.Queen reference.
@@Shantae-June22002 hell yeah
Don't worry. You can still sail the seven seas with nintenentinedonodeno
I know that you really can't assume anything with big corporations, but part of me isn't actually surprised by this.
We know Sega/Sonic Team loves seeing the passion Sonic fans have, hence the reason why so many iconic fan games are even allowed to exist. Sonic Generations has been out for over 10 years, and there are A LOT of mods. Sega probably sees mods the same way they see fan games: projects fueled by passion. They respect the hard work modders have put into the game, and they have no desire to crush their fans. Sure, it will be "harder" to get OG Gens, but it's still available and anyone who ends up getting it can still experience so many legendary mods, hopefully decades after the game originally released.
I don't know how Sega listens to fans but Nintendo doesn't
Sega does what nintendont
@GokuSolosAnime I'm more of a sega fan but Nintendo doesn't listen to their fans
With sonic, Sega values good will over the games themselves. As they see it more as a brand.
@GokuSolosAnime dude stop...
Because Nintendo is a bigger company 😭 plus they be pumping out games every month so it’s kinda hard to just go back and add/remove stuff
This is actually a really good move from sega. I love this idea a lot
Fr, they could've done this to the original 4 Genesis/CD Sonic games with Sonic Origins
This is good PR movement.
2:00 Yes! Make it happen SEGA!
Another thing is that if somehow the mod manager can update every current mod to support it for SxSgens, then that would be amazing. Sure it might be hard but some chad could be really cool for that.
That idea of “giving” the “legacy” version of the game with the new release is an awesome idea. And probably the best.
Now, if only Nintendo listened to fans like Sega does…
The fact that the mods aren't going to be affected, means that we can still play mods on a definitive edition of sonic generations, while able to play shadow levels in the future.
That gives me a theory, if Sega decided to let mods be fully supported on a upcoming definitive version, that means it's also possible that SEGA allows their fans to make new mods on Shadow Levels, Modded Skins, Modded Bosses, and so on.
Looks like they're is going to be Shadow Unleashed Mod if it's true.
In a way, I’m not too shocked about this. The genesis games’ delisting was a bad apple in a wave of Sega listening to fans ever since the Sonic Movie design incident.
That's really nice for SEGA to confirm us that mods are still compatible!
At this point I wouldn't even be surprised if they lost compatibility and actually tried to make it more mod-compatoble
Theoretically old mods should still be compatible with SxS Gens as it’s still the same engine but with some touch ups, as long as the code isn’t altered too much I think most mods will still work with it
Wait there's a new soundtrack available right now because it says "Lost Impact"

Its a stage from shadow the hedgehog@@whisper_ishere518
@@fabionoronhazampieri7639 I know, I was questioning the comment because they made it sound like they released a remix of Lost Impact for Shadow Generations

Sega hire this man for Ideas
I'm honestly surprised they brought the mods up directly, I was expecting them to just keep the wording vague, even if we know why they're doing it. To see them actually acknowledge the modding scene is pretty nice.
Bundling the original Sonic Generations with other Sonic games instead of fully delisting it isn’t a bad compromise. Not only does it preserve the original game, but it also allows newcomers to still have the option to get and play the original game and other Sonic games included in the bundles.
I’m glad SEGA is at least willing to compromise and listen to feedback instead of removing the original game off digital stores altogether like with what happened with Sonic Origins.
Well that's nice to hear. Its definitely better than them just removing the game out right.
(Also nice choice on Ori and The Blind Forest. It really is a good time.)
The Nintendo mind cannot comprehend this
I can't wait for Sonic X Shadow Generations
It’s funny how it was delisted but now it’s listed.
me who is still waiting for sonic 1, 2, cd, and 3 and knuckles to come back
I’m still hoping that Shadow Generations will be longer than or as long as Sonic Generations. For Sonic Generations remastered, I wish that the remastered will have some scenes and stages that are not included in the original Sonic generations.
Their first thought to keep the original generations should've been your idea, but the whole bundle thing is still pretty cool
This is why sega (current) is the GOATED COMPANY
finally, they talked
Ori And The Blind Forest is such an amazing game!
Sega fans after most news of sega: 😊😀🎉
Nintendo fans after most news of nintendo: 😫😭😡
Ahem....for the most part
I kind of predicted they would do something like this, and honestly, I really LOVE IT!
The best that they can do is for user friendly is that the new game works with old mods, and also that people with the game can upgrade it to the new shadow game for less money, something like ps4 Xbox one games upgrade to next gen series s/x and ps5, por 15 dlls or depending
Sega does what Nintendon't

i don’t even have my pc or gaming laptop yet(probably will get one around november) and right as this game was announced i made a steam account and bought the game for this very reason. I can’t wait to play sonic generations mods plus other sonic games
HOLY SHIT SEGA MAKING A GOOD DECISION?!?!
1:51
Literally what I was thinking when Sonic x Shadow Generations was announced.
Depending on how different the remaster is, it may not be as difficult for mods to be translated over.
Still not going to forget what they did with sonic origins
I was on the fence about the $50 dollar price tag. But after seeing this update, I think I might even get the Digital Deluxe.
Phew! I was worried that the inevitable may happen, aka: the OG Generations being delisted.
“Well yes, but actually no” sorta situation. Can’t buy it straight up, you will have to look through bundles that has other games, but at least they aren’t making it to where you can never get it. The modding community lives!
@@Official_FFG_YTHuzzah!
Most mods for the original Generations will most likely be ported over pretty quickly anyway.
Ori and the will of the wisp is one of my favorite games EVER
Well. Here's what I'm thinking. When the game gets delist and new people wants to try out mods. This is what I'm thinking.
Inpatient people:paying 143.90 just to play mods for the original gens
People who wait for 13 years: buys Sxsg and when people recreate mods for the new version. They will be able to play the original mods for the game.
Steam unlocked when they see 0:19: am I a joke to you?
STEAM UNLOCKED LMAOOOO
And bro wonders why he was hacked
steamunlocked in 2024 is crazy
Glad there will still be a legal way to play the original generations (as well as mods) on pc
1:50 the same thing happened when I bought Red Faction Guerrilla Re-mars-ered on steam, it gave me the remastered AND the original game which was delisted, so I could see that happening with Sonic too.
So glad they're keeping it available! I've been playing a bunch of the unleashed project the past few days and I would've hated to see it go
i wish sega would put the old homing attack in sonic x shadow generations from sonic unleashed
Honestly I felt they did this the best way they could
“A Video game company being transparent with their fans” Challenge: IMPOSSIBLE!
Sega: What do you mean?! You can play the original Sonic Generations no problem, but buy it before September 9 or else you have to pay for other Sonic games as well!
2:08
Dope idea
it's a good thing i got it before on steam but the bundle even when sonic origins came out i got the classic 1 2 3k from the bundle it's good that they will still keep the og and sega is listening but lets be real sega sometimes does not listen well but we can only hope for the best going ahead
Even if the original generations was unattainable the mods still would be playable through existing copies of it, and through crack it wouldn’t have mattered mods wouldn’t have been gone but they would have been impossible to attain legally.
The fact they acknowledged mods in the first place is mind-boggling to me
I am genuinely so happy Sega is finally back and doing a good and listening to feedback I am so hyped for the future of sonic the hedgehog
Not perfect but it’s better than nothing
Which I was sure we’d get.
I mean.if there feeling guilty of removing it,they can just bring it back on all digital stores forever..🤷🏾♂️
Some other publishers, especially with popular multiplayer titles with a demo system built-in, will utilize Steam's "branches" system as a means to switch the version of a game to an older version, normally to maintain the viewability of older replays. This isn't an elegant solution, but it might just work for what SxSG needs.
yall see black doom new render its soo good
Hey you can get the game with steam keys even after the game gets delisted. And for Xbox you can get a disc version if you own an Xbox with a disc drive
Another game that does the "Buy a remaster/remade version, you get the old one with it" is the original Darksiders. I recall buying the Warmastered edition when it was on sale and it just gave the the original with it.
I do genuinely hope SXSHGens will do that too because I'm always a fan of when games do that.
EDIT: Oh seems it's part of the Legacy bundle? Honestly a fitting place for it.
add medievil PS4 to the list.
I don't know why it getting delisted is a surprise because they did the same thing 2 years ago with origins
this might just be me but i hope one day SEGA puts the sonic games on GOG like the yakuza games
Hopefully we can get Sonic Generations again on the Xbox.
Sega has been getting more I don't know, down to earth recently? We're being listened to for feedback, yes, but they're also approaching small studios for collabs too. Specifically with rhythm games. We've had Chunithm collab with Phigros and Muse Dash recently, also Crypt of the NecroDancer got a Hatsune Miku character DLC, but I'm unsure if Sega has anything to do with it (I still can't tell if Hatsune Miku is owned by Krypton or Sega)
About Ori automatically giving you the original version: the same happened to me when I bought New Super Lucky's Tale. So yeah, that is apparently a thing developers do sometimes. I think it's an absolutely great idea of yours for SEGA to also do that with Generations! That would be awesome! :D
How awsome would it be if Sonic Team would give us a few things from the Most Popular SG Mods, and in some cases Builds upon their original Mod, like if they would let us get a version of the CSI mod with better Classic physics and many deitails from it, like Classic Knuckles in Sky Sancuary Act 1 or the Retro Badnik Designs, but build off of it by letting us customise Classic Sonic using varius options like Fur colors Models and even a few animations with the Fur Colors all being based on Classic Sonic's different apearances, like Sonic 1, 2, 3K, and From Mania, Forces and Superstars
This is not what I expected but damn, good move, Sega
Hah, when I heard about the delisting this is exactly what I hoped people would do. I hoped Sega would just bundle the original version in with the remaster, like Bethesda has done with their Doom and Quake rereleases, but this is definitely still not bad. And like you say they might still even do that.
Good for everyone :)
I mean, then again people could still port their mods to the new Sonic generations and it’s not even like that would be unlikely considering they get a whole nother game with it if they don’t mod base gems and they’re gonna mod shadow gems
Here's another request they listened to: the physical versions of the game will have reversable covers so fans in America can have the Japanese cover art.
WOOOO YEAH!!!! LETS GOOO ITS STILL AVALIBLE
technically if you wanna play the 360 version on xbox but dont already own the game you could buy the disc
Is it worth buying the original generations in my pc even tho i have it on xbox series s?
my pc cant run the game well but i want to try out the mods
the fact that they listened really gives me hope for the future of the Sonic franchise
This would be such a great decision for them to make to avoid people wanting to play modded legacy gens without paying 100+€ for it
They should give Shadow X with a discount for generations owners cuz the Sonic part of that remaster looks like the same thing
Nah they will charge it for 60$ dollars anyway which in their defense the price is justified technically considering you have two high quality games in 1 package so much content so...yeah I can see them keeping the 60$ price
We gotta acknowledge that they also did this for Xbox as well for no reason. They could’ve just not put it into bundles since it doesn’t have the same modding problems as Steam’s version. But yet they are still doing it.
holy fu** i need to buy Sonic Generations asap
F*CK I CAN'T BUY IT ANYMORE IN NORMAL PRICE
a week ago i could buy it for +- 30 pln (like 6 usd) but now as i searched there's nothing except steam's 70 pln, kinguin's 160 pln and 100 pln. i hate you sega
Prove that Sonic Team still cares about fans
I hope they can also somehow port gens mods like unleashed project into sxsg and even mod shadows portion!
(sees my SONICxSHADOW kingdom valley music mod at 0:25) look gary there i am!!
Now this is what I call caring for community W for SEGA
This is good news, Sega is finally listening to us. The game, Sega and the modding community, its a win win for everyone, no pun intended
What about people with physical versions of the games like they got the game with a pc code? does it make you still install the game through steam?
Wow Sega is now coming more and more my favourite company I used to hate them so much after forces but after like 2023 I see that they were listening to the fans a lot after frontiers came out and now they're listening to every single complains we have even the small ones like the cover art and I wanted to give you a shout out man without you I don't think this many people will be talking about this stuff let's hope they keep continue to listen to us This made me so happy 🥳
Thankfully I already got Gens on my Xbox and thats all I really need 🙏
On 9th September, it’s my birthday.
I own a physical copy of the 360 version of gens so I’m good
honestly I'd prefer to just see it as a bonus for buying the new one, but eh, it's still available in some form to let the old mods be used, I'll live.
(Actuallt I'd *really* rather see them do what id does and just upgrade everyone on Steam, but something tells me a new campaign of Doom levels is a bit easier to build than the Shadow side of Sonadow Generations
Sega be like: The director of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie listened to the fans about Sonic's ugly design and got well received after fixing it.
Maaaaaaybe we should start listening to the fans too 🤔
The mod base acknowledgement and preservation is such a massive W
Wow, a game company doing consumer friendly practices? I honestly didn't see that coming, good on Sega for listening to fans. These are the things more companies should do as we the fans are more eager to support a release when they do.
Can we also ask sega for a Chao Garden Game
so they're basically just doing what valve did with half-life: source?
eh, it works
