      I would of rather seen a 6.2 v8 again or a supercharged 5.0 at least. Like the Shelby f-150 with a 5L supercharger is pushing 700-750hp.

    • @benjaminmatute9085
      @benjaminmatute9085 Před 11 měsíci

      @timmeh-fr5db Because they are N/A, once you give them forced induction them they become insanely powerful. Look at the Baja 700 and the regular Shelby raptor already making above 500 hp. And if you twin turbo charge it, it would probably make even more. The only reason why the v6 is so powerful is because it relies on forced induction, take that away or give it to a bigger engine and that power gets taken away.

    • @benjaminmatute9085
      @benjaminmatute9085 Před 10 měsíci

      @@timmeh-fr5db Yeah, but my point is is the V6 is only compensation is the turbo to make it powerful vs the V8 which doesn't needto compensate for anything and when using forced induction it'll go to the moon.

    I think the new Raptor looks AMAZING!! It is well equipped and has more power. My only beef with the new Raptor and I think that Ford really messed up here is the V6. Most people don't buy a truck because they really want fuel economy. They buy a truck because the bed is really convenient to toss things, they tow or they go off roading or maybe live in an area where it's more dependable due to inclement weather but they buy a Raptor becsuse it does all of those things plus goes fast and sounds great the V8 in the Raptor sounds like a demon being born in the tail pipe. The turbo charged eco boost V6 just sounds like a pissed off weedeater and it sounded so terrible they had to enhance it with artificial sound that comes through the stereo. What Ford should have done was put the same flat plane V8 that they put in the GT350 then they would have built an absolute flawless truck that's a true successor to the old model.

  • @michaelborisenko9432
    @michaelborisenko9432 Před 7 lety +1

    To all of you who don't understand why people are bitching about sound, how often are you going to go flat out in the truck? Once a month, maybe once a week and that's about it, you cant really use it to its full capabilities. However, you will be hearing the engine note ALL THE TIME, part of what makes a car fun and exciting to drive is the engine note. I'd rather have something that is slower but sounds great rather then something that is much faster but sterile and doesnt feel fast. I'm all about having fun, not about going to jail

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety +2

      Ponygt 662 When Ford is switching 90% of their cars to turbo 4 cylinder or turbo 6 cylinder, of course they will make up most of the sales.
      Japanese cars aren't more reliable. That's a baseless myth that everyone claims, but nobody proves.

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety

      Ponygt 662 American cars weren't unreliable to begin with. In the 1980's, there was a very shitty set of circumstances (fuel crisis, economic crisis, insurance crisis) that forced the big three to start making crappy cars, or go bankrupt, but that was only in the '80's. I've owned, and still do own, American vehicles made between the years of 1967-2005, and I haven't had any real issues with a single one of them.
      It stands to be said that I actually PREFER old cars (1967-1974) for their simplicity, reliability, and style.

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety

    No doubt the Ecoboost is quick. I wonder about long term reliability though. My last 5.4 F-150 had 325K miles and was still running strong when I got t-boned by a redlight runner. Do you think a high revving turbo'd V6 will be able to log those kind of miles?

    • @CJColvin
      @CJColvin Před 7 lety +3

      Haywood Jablomi I'm thinking of the same thing. I have a 96 F150 with a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 with 203,508 miles on it and it's still going strong. The only thing I replaced on my truck was the starter but other than that mostly was just simple maintenance and cleaned out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since. Folks in they're Ecoboost F150's can call me a Redneck or a HillBilly but my 96 F150 will definitely outlast the Ecoboost with no problem.

      900k miles on a 99 Cummins (highly doubt it)? how many VP44s and lift pumps had that farmer gone through? VP44 goes out on them every 150k to 200k. Cost is ~$1500 DIY or ~$2-3k with a shop. One can go on ebay and get a complete good used Ecoboost engine for less than $2k, some with transmission!

    • @noblekitty
      @noblekitty Před 7 lety +1

      ***** Plenty of high mileage 12V 5.9 out there with no major repair, yes. All the 24V 5.9 have to deal with VP44, and if you think it's not expensive, you don't own one yet. I didn't mention the 98,99, 00 cracked block yet..did I? I've own a lot of diesel pickups/cars from all 3 domestic and exports. What have you owned? Most new Cummins that could last over 150k miles without any costly repaired are "emission deleted engine".
      Your farmer must be the biggest liar to run the original VP44 on his 99 24V Cummins for 900k miles, or you are.
      You definitely sound like a person that has no clue about automotive design. Twin turbos design is to reduce turbo lag. Ford is not the only one that use that design. GM, VW, Merc, Honda, Nissan, Toyota.. all do it. Now if FCA got the ability to make a decent engine, they may too.
      There is nothing more efficient about using a single big turbo vs twin turbos. When FCA can directly compete with Ford, without buying engines and transmission from third party, like GM made all of theirs, then we can start talking. But first, they need to get off being from the bottom of the reliability list:

      +tyler jessup ha weed eater that's funny. Pull that pile and do rebuilds on it in 15yrs as apposed to a hemi or gm good luck on that. Ford is not in your best interest in a long term. Every truck does the same shit. Manufactures build the parts for the big three. Even in the reviews they claim gm had a hand in there ten speed. Wow it's the fastest 0-60 neet my Silverado gets into the 6-7 at 0-60 range for an extra 40k and I'm not brand loyal altho I think gm Chrysler Toyota Nissan etc are better long term vehicles and people who like to perform there own repairs. It's not a matter of affording one what person wants to dump 60-80k on that stuff. Think the average audience are not at a dr's wage, I would assume. It's all financing a lot of the time, car loans stretching to 6-7 yrs because average consumer cannot afford this there is actually a real problem here with these auto manufactures prices. Tfl and every other one of these shows that test vehicles support this economic Crisis.

    Hello TFL, I have a question for you.
    Is brake torquing really fair? I mean, I understand you're testing maximum acceleration off-the-line, but by brake torquing, all you're doing giving the turbos an unfair head start. Also, knowing how quickly a turbo spools up is really even more important than knowing their fastest possible acceleration. Turbocharging is not all just about gobs of low-end torque on paper, lag is a turbocharger's biggest disadvantage, and in day to day driving, you're going to have to live that. Unless people want to replace transmissions as often as they do brakes and brakes as often as they do oil, people aren't going to brake torque or power brake on a regular basis. I think you guys could come up with more realistic acceleration testing, but this is all just my opinion.

      +Southern Nevada offroading and back country Again, drag racing is not something you do every single day. When an is engine turbocharged, even if it has all the boost and torque on earth, knowing how much lag there is and where the boost threshold is can be even more important. I don't how many times I've switched back and forth between vehicles with heavily boosted, but laggy turbocharged engines, even if it were moderately laggy, and big, powerful normally aspirated engines with immediate throttle response and thought to myself how much better it was in most driving conditions.
