- We installed the K&N drop in filters for the 2012 Mercedes CLS 550. we also got to see the before and after comparisons, revs and pulls from the exhaust, engine bay and inside the car as well. we gained some acceleration and now we got more air flow for the twin turbo v8. Now we can here the turbo spool alot more than before and it sounds amazing!

The w218 Cls is so underrated. Love the content❤️
Thank you!! Yes I 100% agree with that ! Super under rated!
Nice vid. Wifey and I are fast car people. We each have 2019 Challenger Scat Packs. I have a 64 Corvette Stingray. She has a 63 T Bird. I also have a 70 LT1 Corvette. And living on the South Carolina Coast of course I have a 2019 9 inch lift Chevy 2500HD pick up. Just picked up a sweet 2014 CLS 550 4Matic. Mint condition with only 28k miles. What a car ! Love this car and it performs so well even at the stock level. Going to get the K&Ns for it. Also next week I am getting a stage 2 tune from PresserTech right out side Atlanta. Just an ECU tune, not changing anything else. It will be around 550 hp at crank and an unbelievable 703 pounds o torque ! Can't wait. Even stock this car is so under rated. I would have never thought it would be so fast. 50 years old and first ever foreign car and loving it. Thanks for the vid...
Nice cars! Oh yeah a stage 2 tune on the CLS 550 will open her up quite a bit and will be fast! Your are right these things are under rated! This is my first German car also and so far I love it! Thanks!
Do u stil have the cls and has it been reliable also was goin to ask what the best aftermarket turbo would be
Holy fuck you live the perfect life, your like ghandi man, just grabbed a 14' e550 coupe same engine and luvvvv ittttt
Ok.
Wish I can give you 1000 likes. Amazingly informative.
🙏🏼 thank you appreciate it
Thanks GREAT video
Man your engine bay is clean
I got my air intake tubes from VRP speed
Thanks man! Yeah I was looking into VRP Speeds website and that’s the intake pipes I wanna get too!
Hey man love your vids. Would you do a review type video after 6 months of owning it cause i wanna buy one and i kinda wanna know what im getting and what i can expect. Thanks alot and keep it up.
Thank you! Yes I will in about 3 months I can make a video on that I’ll put it in my notes!
@@RedlineracinggarageI have 126k MILES, only regular maintenance. Had over 20 MBs/ BMW. By far the most reliable I have owned. The 2014 CLS 550 I have seems to be the most reliable and for some reason is left out of most all service bullitens.
I have a 2012 cls with 48,000 miles should I be worried
Thanks for the video! My left air flow pipe is also broken. We're you able to replace them with a new one? If so where did you order it from? Thanks in advanced.
I still have the cuppler on lol! But I’m looking into a aluminum piping kit for replacement I don’t wanna run this cloth style pipe
Looks pretty much how the install of these filters on my GLS550 should go. Thanks!
Id say about $190 USD
@@Redlineracinggarage I already bought them but had no idea how to install.
@@CartwrightFour in the video i show you how to install it
Love the car men should I get a 2017 cls550 and lmk if it’s reliable
Thank you! Yeah it’s reliable! It still has the 4.7 V8 which is really reliable and every year they always update it and make it even better! So I recommend the 2017 CLS 550!
Had a 550 tricked it her out. And muffler delete and intakes now have amg and love her
Damn yeah man amg is the shit lol
It sounds nice bro! Definitely looking forward to making mine sound a little louder!! What do you have installed?
Thanks, i had resonator delete and these k&n filters
Is it really worth it?
Thank you for your content, it is really helpful. Is CLS 550 a good daily driver car
You got it! Yes I love driving the CLS 550. I can definitely say it’s a great daily but it comes at a price. It’s not cheap to maintain them, that’s for sure!
@@Redlineracinggarage Nice, how is the reliability and how expensive is the regular maintenance
@@mdcoker reliability is better than most Mercedes’ but maintenance is expensive
@@Redlineracinggarage Thanks for the insight
@@mdcoker no problem!
Does it make any difference in sound? Looking to make the engine bay louder. If so is it worth it or a subtle different? Thanks!
There is a difference in sound for sure, its kinda hard to hear in the video but there is definitely a higher air flow going in the motor
Nice ❤❤
Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice car bro! I have a 2014 cls550 and just got rims which I hope they fit haha. They are 245/35/20 offset34 and rear 275/30/20 offset 40. 8.5 in front and 10 in back. You think they fit or should I need spacers? They were on c300 2019 from owner I bought the rims from. Thx bro
Thanks! Yeah man I think they should fit especially if you had them on a c300 I think you should be ok!
I'm in the Chicago area and I need help wit my cls550.. it's clean asl but I want it fast
Nice man! There’s alot of things you can do. First off without doing anything you can get a stage 1 tune.
BTW are the size of those filters same as M113 engine has?
Yes I believe they are the same size
I like the cheap paper filters. Less restrictive than the K&N oil treated filters. For the price of the cheap paper filters, you can swap em out 3 times as often.
Where do you get them?
@@shckltnebay eBay. 25$ a pair
I don’t think that’s true.
@@gottliebdee263 everyone has their own opinion. I’ve used K&N for 30+ years. They make great filters. But the paper filters are less restrictive initially. Of course they clog up faster, and K&N beats them there. But you have to clean and retreat K&N filters if you’re using them properly. For the price of a K&N I can swap the cheaper filters at least 3 times. And always have optimal performance. It’s all a matter of preference. But I just buy the inexpensive filters now and swap them out every oil change.
Fan boys will drop in a fancy new filter in place of a clogged old paper filter and give credit for better running. The problem was always the old filter. A new filter will give the same performance bump. Plus, there is no need to clean and oil. Oil can foul MAF which is bad.
Fan boys isn’t the correct word for that, they cold broke mfs, if u don’t have like 20 bucks to get a air filter for your car then performance should prob be the last thing they should be thinking of lol
Beautiful,,is it tuned yet??
Not yet but very soon
what is the cheapest and best way to get some pops for an 11 cls550
Cut resonators and mufflers
Just picked one of these up, how reliable has it been? Impressive that it’s at 165k km
Nice man just a few things you gotta watch out for I will be making a video on that soon!
Mine has 121k miles. Never run better. Will light Em up and fill a parking lot with tire smoke. Rear tires definitely biggest expense
Very cool bro 👍🏻 what’s the part number on those filters and where did you order them from ?
Keep up the good work 👍🏻 thanks
Thanks man! I’ll find the part # for you all I’ll post it soon!
Here’s the link where I got them from

Do the k&n produce more power? What is the advantage
More air flow = more power
hi i am from europ, we dont have here cls 550 generation w218.... can y pls write me sotehnig about this motor ? its old 550 ? with 285kw ? or something new ? cause in europe we have only cls 500 with 300kw....
Yes the CLS 550 is a 4.7 v8 motor 402 hp and 443 torque
@@Redlineracinggarage Thanks ;) i need this car but some people say: 4.7l motors have too many problems... is this motor good choice ? is this reliable ?
@@plesnimort from my experience so far and the research iv done these motor are pretty reliable. They do have some failures but one you get them fixed they will hold for a very long time!
@@Redlineracinggarage what are those failures thank you new sub
Was the whole exhaust system stock here
No i had all resonators deleted only
How many miles? I got a 2012 E550 M278.
Nice! It’s got 164kms so basically around 100miles
hi, friend
I have seen your videos they are very good! I want to buy a car like this, a 2017 cls 550 with 80,000 km, I would like to have your opinion that you recommend me to verify in the car inspection if this Mercedes model is a good purchase?
thank you.
Thank you. With a 2017 model you shouldn’t have any issues like the older generations. Especially with low mileage like 80,000 you should be ok. But it also depends on how well you maintain your Mercedes.
How often should you replace air filter?
I would say every 50,000 kms
With this car almost every other oil change it’s naturally aspirated and they’re not that expensive to get paper ones
With new intake tubes that job isn’t scary at all
Just cover your engine hole when you take off everything minimize air and dust while it’s exposed
Stock exhaust?
No it’s a resonator delete and a x pipe
K&n filters get cracked out whith the time and it happend whith my s600v12 bi turbo, 5 grand euros on repairs..
Never k&n for me
Iv heard alot of bad things about these K&n filters I will be switching to the thin blue ones soon. Sorry to hear man!
Iv heard alot of bad things about these K&n filters I will be switching to the thin blue ones soon. Sorry to hear man!
@@Redlineracinggarage i use now pipercross and its really good stuff and beter for much air than normal
@@mercedesmaniac6181 ok cool
I’ll look into it
Stay away from this shit! K&N filters rely on oil satruration for proper filtering. Too much oil on them and they are restrictive, too less and they don't filter proper. This is a turbocharged engine and it's going to follow it's boost setpoint no mather what. Fouled air filters: its gonna make these turbo's work just a little bit harder and sooner. Even an open filter isn't going affect your preset boost curve. These filter boxes are fine for a M157, so why expect power gains for a M278?' Please stop bolting crap on these engines and get a proper chip-tune that does differ you boost curve if you realy want more power.
Look into the UPD intake spacer kit. The stock air boxes don’t bring enough air in. The spacers help a good amount.
I paired the spacers with weistec dry filters. They work with any filters. Great howto video.
Sounds good, thanks!
Would you be able to leave a link here please ! Thanks again !

@@TheT1r1 thanks! I’ll sub to your channel also!
@@Redlineracinggarage thanks brotha
Lose boost wtf?
Don’t use a K&N unless you absolutely, positively have to have the extra 3 hp you ‘might’ get.
Worse filtration than the stock item and will deposit oil where you don’t need it.
They don't work in fact you loosing power and your engine running hotter its only sound nothing else
Iv heard alot of mixed reviews about the k&N drop in filters, some good, some bad. 🤷🏽
Adding after market oil filled filters into a forced induction Mercedes is not a good idea….
Heard alot of good and bad reviews about these.
@@Redlineracinggarage I’d take that shit out immediately
