This is super crazy how this cartoon is almost 100 years old! I used to have this on VHS back in the 80s!
We did too. I was very small, and this one always scared me. Looking back on it, I can see why!
I still have it! My mom kept it all these years. I was born in 84 and this was my favorite as a little girl
Me too! I used to watch this on vhs in 1989. I miss the quality of cartoon
@@linderreid6517yess! I have mine - born 85 - watched a his sooo many times 🚬🐟
Me too
Man, I haven't seen this in forever. My dad had a couple of VHS tapes he recorded old cartoons onto that I would watch a thousand times when I was a kid in the 90s. This was one of my favorites.
Welcome to Pool parlor billiards
Was it on a tape with an old Casper video? Where he had a pet fox named Ferdie? Or was that just me?
@@tylerguzman I had that tape!
@@LamentButterfly ME 2 oh my goodness!!! 🤗♥️⚘
@@tylerguzman I had that same tape! It had a few other original cartoons on there too! Life goes by so fast it almost makes me wanna cry! 😭
This is so nostalgic, man I didn't even know I remember everything the characters says lol
This cartoon was one of the earliest I can recall watching when I was little.
Now I look back on my youth years as a teen this reminds me so much of myself in my past 10 years ago it was my goal to be a big shot and yeah I truly was just a baby inside.
That's okay everything worked out now.
It's rediculas how so many people put me down in the past for watching cartoons they didn't realize I also wanted to be a cartoonist in reality.
Well I am going places in life and this cartoon touches me somehow lol I can see myself in it and I am still a small fry of a character in life.🤗👍
Tooter Turtle (about twenty years later) is to me, a great cartoon that taught kids about not doing dangerous/adult things before they are old enough.
I loved your comment
🥰
I remember watching a cartoon like this when I was a kid with a story so sad that I cried a lot afterwards. It was a New Year's Eve party and a little girl was crying trying to sell boxes of matches without attracting anyone's attention. Tired and sad the girl leaned against a place, it was winter and it was snowing a lot, she woke up in a very beautiful place full of children just like her playing happily. lots and lots of dancing when little angels came to play with her, it was clear in that moment that she had fought the cold and died and gone to heaven... I cried a lot that day. Never forget this cartoon . 😔😔😔😔😔😭😭😭😢😢😢
The Little Matchgirl?
The Disney version is really depressing as well
@@Fangirl-Nerd12a lot of the older films are really depressing honestly, :(
Kudos to the elderly fishes cause they taught him that he needs to learn more. The older generation are wiser in terms of life experiences yet here we have youngsters talk as if they know better. We should all listen and learn properly not making ourselves grow quick always room for new knowledge
Those elderly fishes were just a bunch of bullies abusing a kid for shits and giggles. Which ironically ended up teaching him a valuable lesson.
Never heard of a pick me kid before but there's always a first time for everything. I guess
When I watched this as a kid I thought the adults were torturing Junior.
But I now know they were simply teaching him a lesson on being naughty and that he is still too young to things grown ups do.
No you were right as a kid this is fucked. Those adults were assholes
To me it could've been either way. Surely they do see he's too young for what's considered "adult business", and they could've tried to show him what's considered too big for him, yet it could've also been just a test to see if he'd capably tackle this.
Sort of gave him a scared straight experience
Wow, I remember this when I was a small child. Did not know it was from the 1930s. 🥰
I had this on VHS!! Ahh...the good ol days
I had this on a cassette 36 years ago at 5, love this short
I have not seen this since elementary school, which I hated, so I can still relate to "small fry"!!! I now have four Masters Degrees!
That's like 6 years per masters. You've spent 24 years on them? Yikes
Another great cartoon from the Fleischer Studios!
Yes lol this is amazing because I'm 41 and I always would sing this jiggle in my head and sometimes out loud playfully nobody knows where I got it from but here it is Ole small fry
Awww, that's cute!
One of my favorite cartoons watching on TV in the 1950s!
Unlocked Memories
very creative for that era even the pool parlor concept ,thats why i love old animations even without sound ,shows they have good thinkin processes ,just like scientific explorations/ inventions, advancements then amazing
These cartoons were awesome when I was a kid and they're still awesome today....
Old is gold 😊👌👌❤️
Classic Cartoons are Cool New Cartoon Reboots are Fools
The last kisses are awesome 😂😂😂😂😂
Bikini Bottom in the 1930's be like, "welcome to the Salty Spittoon, how tough are ya?"
Small Fry: How tough am I? Got a new bottle of ketchup?
Big Fry: Sure!
Small Fry: It's on!
Big Fry: Get outta here kid, this place is too tough for you.
Underrated Comment, at least to me.
I’ve seen this episode before when I watched it on dvd of Felix the cat.
Childhood Memory.🙂
This is what children's entertainment used to be. To teach a moral lesson.
Back then TV shows & cartoons had morals
ha most of the cartoons by this studio are children dreaming of not being in poverty or birds eating candy.
Idk if you guys have watched any cartoons lately but they still do that...
I looked for this cartoon for years. I remembered it from one of our VHS cartoons in the 1980's.
@isisatlantis3168 Glad you found it here in CCC! We've got quite a few cartoons, check them out! Cheers!
From 2000 generation I love to watch classic cartoons
Small Fry is the name of the Splatoon 3 Agent’s helpful friend.
Little fish is cute 😁🐟
Todays kids will NEVER understand the classics…
Some might
Well, I'm 19, so im still waaaayy past the generations who saw those cartoons when they came out. However, i was lucky enough to grow up in canada when the tv channel "teletoon retro" existed and ran really old warner bros and anna barbara cartoons in the evening. I would religiously watch the looney tunes after dinner. If i ever have to babysit or become a kid's uncle or something, I'll show them old cartoons like this.
I'm 69. I remember this cartoon and the song.
Looks like Small Fry learned his lesson, huh?
I watched this cartoon in 1993 but didn't knew it was from 1930s
Some of the younger viewers may look at this and wonder, "We're 1930's children really this awful?"
Let's just say that, back in those days, children were exposed to a lot more lead.
I don't really see these kids as awful. If anything, kids back then we're at least interacting with each other. These days, kids are becoming more a-social and ultimately Anti-social thanks to video games and "social" media. That's why we have these school shootings now even though gun control is far strict than it was in the 1930's.
@@ricardocantoral7672 Just googled "Was gun control stricter in the 1930s." Short answer, it was. You have failed the sniff test.
@@ricardocantoral7672 Exhibit A....
There's always a bigger fish, those guys were trying to teach him that he was trying to be a man before his time, so they gave him a scared straight experience
These little old shows remind me of my older sister who showed us these old shows. Miss her❤ and haven't seen this in ages lol
7:19 This fish actually inspired the design for Captain Brineybeard’s ship in the Cuphead game
I LOVE the scary part!
The humanizing of fish is funny. Walking on their fins. Cigarettes. Turning on a faucet under water. "Sole of my shoe." "You got your feet all soaking wet." What would soaking wet be to a fish? The list goes on. The liberties with science are humorous.
I’m young only 20 years old but I have seen the when I was a little boy with my grandpa he would show me all his collection of old movies tv shows etc and fun times with him his very old now and hard for him to move around it’s sad but love him and may god keep him healthy
I wonder if that sequence in the dark cave was the inspiration behind the monsters seen during the “Now That We’re Men” song of the first Spongebob film. It seems to have a similar art style and aesthetic.
"Is your son playing hooky or dead?"
Hooky
Thanks!
Funniest Paramount Animation & The Fleischler Brothers cartoon in the public domain ever!!!!!
You said it! Great 👍 video! Also, 4th comment, 😀 😁 😃 yay!!!!!!!!
También las de los años 30 son padres😮😅❤ y gracias por ponerlas

Amei 💞😍 este desenho muita saudade ❣️😍
Woow. Old days. ❤
The good old days 🥲🫶🏽
He estado buscando esta caricatura y al fin la encuentro 😭❤️🩹 no me sabía el nombre así que fue difícil.
Recuerdo que la tenía en un DVD de caricaturas clásicas (nací en el 2006, así que no tengo una gran historia 😅)
You know, i thought it was connected to Educated fish, and only recently i found out that that one was Tommy Cod, while this one is Junior Catfish
This song was originally a 1938 hit for Mildred Bailey. (That version is on CZcams.)
Aaaah sabía que no lo imagine esto si existió que bonitoooo❤
👍спасибо, хороший мультик
Excellent!
The very first thing before there were actually SpongeBob SquarePants
I Know!
I was about to say that
Now I know where Bernie mac got this from!! When he tell the midget on Bad Santa
Woww for a nice movie.
Random childhood memory unlocked
"Was it hooky or did he get hooked?"
Wow!🔥
Cool classic cartoon
Remember, kids, never smoke cigarettes from strangers, never ditch school and never play hooky.
愛它 ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing😍🤩 🤣🤣
Lol, I haven't seen this in awhile! 🐟🐠🐡
This is what happens when there isn't a father in the house.
And you're what happens when there isn't any Plan B in the house, get a grip.
So basically 90% of american households today
@@RumbleinazooI suppose.
Nice
Why did we all have vhs of these in the early 90s

😍🤩😍
Why do the fish walk on their tails?
Me 😁 my spirit totem
move the cmc from screen it blocks the movie
😁😁bad fish
wheres his dad?
Was It Really Nesesary To Scare Him Like That?.
Yes because A big fish will eat him in the wild
Probably inspired SpongeBob
Tap water under water
The guy who made this should sue Sponge Bob.
Why? That guy is probably long dead and cartoons taking place underwater isn't a new concept
@@inkystars19 Also, the creator of SpongeBob passed away afew years ago. I like imagine both of them are laughing as friends.
@@greenliongirl07 Aww
Be nice if at 1:25 WASNT AN AD!!! cmon man, cant we do better?!
