Do you wanna know how to use an Amazon profit calculator. Wanna know if a product is worth your investment and time and calculate its amazon FBA net profit. In this video, I'm going to show you how to calculate net profit on Amazon and how you can evaluate the profitability of any product, especially on Amazon.
I'll tell you how can you use the Amazon FBA calculator to calculate the net profit and get the product profit margin. And I'll also explain to you how the VAT work in the UK and how to include that in your net profit calculation whether you are a VAT registered or NON-VAT business. And at the end, I'll also share with you my excel sheet where I've applied all the formulas that will make your life much easier for product profitability analysis excel.
At end of this video, you will be able to do product pricing and profit analysis, amazon UK vat calculation using the Amazon revenue calculator FBA.
I've taken a product from the UK market as an example.
Now on Amazon, all the prices shown to the customers are inclusive of VAT. which means Amazon collects the 20% VAT from the customers on your behalf and you are responsible to report it to the HMRC later.
The total amount that you will report to HMRC is the VAT on the selling price minus the VAT that you already paid to the supplier, which was £1 in our case. I hope the VAT calculation is now clear to you.
Open the FBA calculator in a new tab. It will ask you to sign in to your seller central, or you can continue as a guest for now. Right now I wanna evaluate a product for wholesale FBA, so I'm gonna click on " Search Amazon Catalogue".
Copy the ASIN B072J7TSZX from the product information section or from the URL and search in the FBA calculator. Here is the revenue calculator.
    sellercentral....
Now you will notice why there is a difference in the Amazon fee on both of these calculators? Well, that's because this new version is adding a per item selling fee that you have to pay if you not using an Amazon Professional selling plan. If you have a professional selling plan and you are signed in to your seller central this fee will automatically go away.
If you are doing FBA there are some new options added to the new version. If you get Amazon to do the labelling and any other preparation if required, you will tick the box and it will automatically include the cost.
Dispatching to Amazon... I'm leaving it empty for now.
After that, you will see the storage cost per unit and Amazon will charge this fee after one month. For example, if all of your inventory of this product is sold out within a month you will not pay any storage fee. And if after one month you are left with let's say only 5 units then you will pay this storage fee on those 5 units. Keep in mind, that this fee is increased after 3 months since you sent the inventory and is further increased after 6 months. You see Amazon does not encourage you to keep the excess inventory in their fulfillment center. I usually try to have my inventory sold out within a month so I put zero here. Also, notice Amazon charges you differently from October through December. That's because in the fourth quarter, Amazon gets tons of workload and faces a staff shortage.
Estimated VAT, I've entered zero here and took care of it further in my excel sheet. After that, you will enter your product source price.
Now after adding all the fees FBA calculator will show you the per-unit cost of the item. If we subtract this from our selling price the profit comes out to be 4.58 which is the FBA profit.
Input VAT is the VAT you paid on the source pricing of the product at the time of buying the inventory from the supplier. Account proceeds are the amount that Amazon will put into your account after deducting FBA & Referral fee. HMRC cell shows the amount that you will pay to HMRC as I explained in my slide earlier. Which is output VAT minus input VAT. The "Returns" cell shows the estimated percentage of the returns on your orders. If you are selling a fragile glass product change this value accordingly.
Now the net profit is calculated as account proceeds minus supplier cost minus prep cost minus shipping cost minus output VAT or input VAT plus HMRC which is the same thing minus selling price times the percentage returns that you are estimating. Keep in mind that Amazon will not refund you the FBA or referral fee for any return order that's why I have used the selling price in that formula.
Similarly, the formulas for breakeven and profit margins are applied. If you enter the 2nd breakeven price then the net profit becomes zero for that 2nd type of seller.

Hi, When you are declaring VAT to HMRC, dont you include your selling fee? For example £15 selling fee should be declared, not £12.50,? as thats exclusive figure. It would then be £3-1 = £2 VAT?
