What I love about Luke is he never does the traditional male thing of taking it out on the girl when she dates other guys. He knew she didn't owe him anything and so when she dates he's not happy about it but he's never a dick to her about it and continues being a good friend to her. That ladies and gentlemen is why they ended up together.

@@spitebiter I just rewatced the whole series and no, he doesn't. The only time they stop speaking is when they break up the first time and when Lorerai gets together with Christopher which is pretty understandable

@@spitebiter Lorelai can be an exhausting character and she had quite a few annoying moments. The times were he was grumpy and not so kind to her, was usually when she was self centered and pushed her happiness into his face, while he was struggling with other life problems that she didn't really saw. In general, she used Luke a lot as her own emotional therapist, i can not remember many times were she helped him out.

When Luke saw Lorelai kissing Max Medina he didn’t get jealous or snappy and rude at Lorelai he simply bowed his head as self-pity for himself because he’s loved her since season 1 and so did she! I wanna find a Luke in my life, someone who looks out for me, hears me out and makes me laugh when I’m feeling low! Luke>> every other love interest in the show

I honestly can’t believe she was blind for that long. She had so many opportunities to see that he loved her for so long
Nahh she knew, I think she was just scared. Just as a quick example, think about 3:26, her feeling like she should go bc of how physically close they were in that scene, all alone in the diner, having shared a moment. Either she knew by the way he was looking at her, or she felt something and freaked out. But I’m banking on the fact that she knew deep down and didn’t want to admit Luke liked her bc that might conflict things.
She wasn't they had a subtle talk about it. She was talking about the value of long steady friendships and kinda hinting and he got it

The most heavily desired relationship, that turned into a burning dumpster fire of frustration and infuriation. I was so disappointed with how the writers wrote their relationship, even before all the BS with April and the engagement began. It was so underwhelming and disappointing after SUCH AN AMAZING LONG BUILDUP! I’ll never forgive.
There was SUCH A BUILD up & so much tension between the two leading up to it & then BOOM … nothing … no spice, no passion, it was so completely underwhelming & boring . I’m so angry about it . (Just finished rewatching it all)
I remember not feeling that way when I first saw it, but on my first rewatch (there’s been about 3 rewatches total lol) I was like “what happened to Luke????? He was so much sweeter before he started dating Lorelai what happened??”
You're so right. People love them as a couple but I don't because the writers did ruin it. I didn't even want them together anymore in the end
I initially felt that way, too. But then I thought about it, and think that the writers were trying to portray a real relationship built on a long-term friendship. There were minimal sparks after they got together because they knew each other really well and were already comfortable with each other.

Their dynamic made this show. The other quirky characters were fantastic too. I don't know what happened with those last few seasons but something seemed off.
My favorite GG moment is when Lorelai thinks theyve started dating but doesn't know. Luke and Lorelai was my favorite TV romance until they invented April and Lorelai married Chris for 3 seconds all for drama 🤦

My mom and I love watching this series together and we came up with a line about how they met and why Lorelei and Rory get free coffee. Basically Lorelei just goes in with baby Rory and since she just left her parents, she’s the tired mother looking for money in her purse with a fussy baby and Luke gives her coffee for free, probably asks were their mother is, and being Lorelei she probably says, “Present!” And they begin talking and Luke probably gives her more free coffee and tells her about the Independence Inn needing a maid and the rest is history. 💜🐼
If I recall correctly Lorelai actually met Luke when Rory was 11-12 because there's an ep where he tells the story of how they met 5 years ago when Lorelai asked for coffee, he was usual rude and she retaliated with her quirk and humor. If anyone has better memory, you'll know which ep and season. That headcanon is sweet, though, ngl.

Oh my gosh, I love Luke and Gilmore Girls. It reminds me of the character that I love so much Luke Skywalker from Star Wars. But that name Luke will always melt my heart away. Watching the show was especially therapeutic. Cause the way Luke is on the show, he's so funny, so grumpy made the show what it is right now.
