I don’t think he’s a idiot I just think he could have handled the rejecting rem thing better besides that it’s the best episode. I watched this episode with my dad and he jus thinks Subaru is just leading rem on especially with him saying he’ll be her hero and whatnot after only seconds of rejecting her. After he asked that there really is no option other than making it perfectly clear that there's no shot of the relationship going forward. As for asking her to run away, that's forgivable and understandable with how unimaginably destroyed his mental state must have been. There's no way to try and fit the trauma of dying in horrific circumstances and being powerless to stop it in a real world scenario. Then like you said, Rem knew what was going to happen from the moment the conversation started.

As much as I liked Subaru/Rem ship as I was watching this back in 2016, I didn't even flinch on that "I love Emilia" line. I mean, just look at their faces. Subaru knew he had to say it to confirm his determination, he closes his eyes because he knows he's hurting her feelings. But that was what Rem wanted him to be. And she is strong enough to take it with a smile. He knows that as well. It's really hard to describe the relationship that was created between Rem and Subaru in the main storyline. But it's definitely something much greater than friendship.

I think it was said he loved them both equally the "i love Emilia" wasn't really rejecting Rem but more of Subaru standing on his feet again and finding his purpose (A "happy" ending ) but some ppl took it the wrong way and started hating on Subaru for it
also i think alot of people took it to be a hurtful thing for him to say to Rem. Though in our opinion it is far kinder to be direct about your feelings to someone in love with you than to string them along.

I think some of his anguish at this point is that he made her start to mistrust him by his own actions (breaking his promise).
The more I think about it, the more I feel it was not fair to make Subaru promise something without explaining anything to him. It was not the problem of getting him in the throne room. Emilia just wanted to keep him out of her business because it was dangerous for him. Even if she trusted him, she didn't have much faith in him, I think.

However all I can say is that Dr stone for me has no dipping point, it only goes upwards! Even reading the manga we finished a recent arc and got introduced to a new arc, but still going strong! If Dr stone is against titles such as jujutsu kaisen or jojo tho.... I can see it being shadowed and not picked 😭 because unlike those two titles which have epic fights and stuff, Dr stone is more about surprise moments, the realism brought in the unrealistic and such. Kinda like how haikyuu hype moments isn't some epic Supernatural scifi battle, but instead in final bouts, ball saves and character growths as such (not saying the other shonens doesn't have character growth arcs, but just that haikyuu in particulars strongest thing about it is the character writing)
Why is his love for Emilia justified? Well she has never once killed the poor guy. In his messed up ever changing world with people having different behaviour in almost every timeline, Emilia remains to be that one constant that he can always hang on to. And because we can never experience what it's like to be confessed to by someone that killed you, I think we don't have enough experience to question Subaru's decision. 🤔

Rem killing Subaru in one of the loops is irrelevant at this point in the story. Though he still remembers the event and the pain, as every other instance of his death, there's no negative personal feelings for Rem, at all. He's over it.
What an episode huh? What a conversation! I mean when your storytelling and character creation is so good that almost an entire episode can be a single long conversation between two characters and still all of it feels meaningful and core to the story and its characters... I was amazed with the show after this episode. Like I was already really liking it because of how raw and real it can be but this one really cemented that feeling for me. For how fantastical all the settings and situations are the psychology and emotions of it all are so damn real and logical, like of course Subaru after all he's experinced is spiraling down into a hole of self-hate and depression that this episode actually reveals us that he was already dealing with before coming to this world, but he was just trying to avoid it becuase he didn't know how to deal with it which was also the root of a lot of his poor choices (the rest was just simple ignorance which is bound to happen here and there when you get thrown into a completely new and different culture and hell even the laws of physics and chemestry somewhat differ). And the best part is that this isn't a Deus Ex Machina conversation where Subaru discovers the meaning and purpose of his life and he just "gets good" and everything from here on out is perfect. Nah, here he's just being able to recognise his flaws, point at them without being scared and saying yes I have these flaws, these are mine, what can I do with them to be better? They won't magically disappear, this is his start on a tough, long journey of self improvement and I'm here for a story like that. I'm happy that you saw all sides of this episodes and how the characters are feeling currently in the story and with what they're struggling, not only with the impending threat at hand but also internally. no i love reading analysis! I kinda think this show gets at the root issue of isekai in general as well. Isekai are made to be a start over for people unhappy with how their life turned out. This show however shows even if you were to leave to another reality you would still carry the issues you had before. I really like the idea of Rem now being with him no matter what now though. It makes sure that no matter what happens now he knows he has someone who will believe him and he can rely on instead of just being alone.
@@ReactCity Exactly, psychological issues don't disappear just because you want them to (sadly, right?). You have to deal with them and it will most probably be hard as hell and a struggle for all your life in the worst cases, but it is still better than letting them wreck your life. And yes, Rem is really crucial especially this episode since this is the closest thing to therapy he could get right now and also having someone like her that is telling you "don't worry, we can get through these things you're struggling with, don't be scared of them knocking you down because even if you fail hard I'll be here to pick you up and help you go back at it again" is really a boon for someone battling with self-hate and all the destructive and anxious behaviours that stem from it.
There is an IF story, written by the original author, about what will happen if Subaru run away with Rem. Echidnut, an youtuber, makes some video about these IF stories. The IF stories are actually amazing and can actually make the reader get more deep insight about what happened in the main story.
I don't wanna spoil anything, but once y'all finish EP23, go back here in Ep18 to where Subaru died, and you'll see something😳 - You guys also need to come back to this episode, shoot maybe even the entire season for when you get through S2E4. You'll see a lot of what Subaru was talking about in his conversation with Rem😏

In these chapters, it is shown what would have happened if Subaru choose the path of 'Sin' and did something contrary to what he did in the main story. The Sloth IF is about what would have happened if Rem accepted Subaru's proposal and ran away together. If you want to know about the other "IF's" (No spoilers): The Lust IF is about what would happened if Subaru married with all of the royal candidates + Rem and Ram. But this is more of a joke haha The Pride IF is about what would have happened if Reinhard hadn't saved Subaru from the hoodlums. You guys edit way too much. This is probably the most important moment in season 1 and the subaru self hatred speech is untouchable moment. Shouldve not edited anything imo. i will try to edit it leaving in those parts more in the future. the reason alot of it was cut out of this episode is because alot of moments had us blankly staring as we took in the speech so i didn't want to leave in what i thought was a bad reaction. i dont get what you are getting at they included important moments there,and if they go over 10 minutes they get copyrighted,and cutting out them blankly staring at screen is neccesary. Rem is one of my favorite characters and I expect Rem and Subaru will end up together (Tappei plays with it, with not knowing who Subaru will end up with). But I didn't get angry with him because well, this was expected. Anyways, if Subaru would have accepted that he loves Rem, they would be together now so, the author would lose all the game that romance and a love triangle can bring to a story. Interesting data: In an interview, the author said that Subaru would have married a girl like Rem in Japan if he never traveled to Lugunica. Also there is a "what if" of what would have happen if Rem would have accepted Subaru's propossal. It's a canon what if, with novels and manga.
@Ugz Um, I really wonder about that, bro. In recent chapters Subaru/Rem are steadily getting back on track. They even go through the same back-and-forth lines they had in Arc 2. Between a guy who uses people as pawns and a guy who puts his own life on the line to save people, I think I know who Rem will choose.
Rem is my favorite character hands down, but I don't think she's going to end up with Subaru, and honestly that might be a good thing. The best thing for her character growth would be for her to understand how important her friendship with Subaru is, but at the same time learn to cultivate other relationships. Hopefully, that would allow her to end up with a romantic partner who would make her their number one priority.
For all the people that hate on Subaru for rejecting Rem, think on this. A lesser man could very easily have seen this as a chance to have his cake and eat it too. He could very easily have taken advantage of Rem's love for him. He could have easily accepted what she was offering and using her to satisfy himself. Used her until he got back to Emilia, then discarded her. That's not love. Rejecting her is the real act of love for her. Refusing to take advantage of her. Just my opinion.
Her confession wasn't bad but you can see the red flags when comes to Rem as a person which makes it even more sad. She defined her life to Subaru by having no other dreams or goals in life other then just being wife to Subaru, she's basically not even maid at this point, She went from defining her value and worth directing it to Ram then just onto Subaru so she never actually improved as a person. Her unconditional love isn't healthy because she doesn't care what he really does as long she can be with Subaru and acts according to mental imaging. She's enabling Subaru hero complex which is a big NO NO, and placed on a pedestal and gave him impossible expectations but this is also Subaru fault for doing this because he's our (lovable idiot) because you know about idealization it ends in failure all the time which will cause further suffering and torment to his mental health. ( more Subaru suffering for us to watch) She wasn't really trying to understand him or try to talk with him, she was mostly just trying to be all cutesy. It's one thing to tell them what you love about them but when people go through what Subaru is doing the last thing you want to actually do is try to be all cutesy with them it's not actually healthy and just placing them more on a pedestal rather then just trying to understand and help them out on why he wants to run away. She was justifying his bad behavior during early episodes by rewarding him with lap pillows instead of trying to talk with him about his problems with Emilia and way he acted. She wants more then anything to sacrifice her life to Subaru so she can feel cared about. That's really all it is. It's not like she's bad character she just has tons and tons of problems when comes to herself like everyone else. Also other thing's but ill leave those out lol.

Rem killing Subaru in one of the loops is irrelevant at this point in the story. Though he still remembers the event and the pain, as every other instance of his death, there's no negative personal feelings for Rem, at all. He's over it.
What an episode huh? What a conversation! I mean when your storytelling and character creation is so good that almost an entire episode can be a single long conversation between two characters and still all of it feels meaningful and core to the story and its characters... I was amazed with the show after this episode. Like I was already really liking it because of how raw and real it can be but this one really cemented that feeling for me. For how fantastical all the settings and situations are the psychology and emotions of it all are so damn real and logical, like of course Subaru after all he's experinced is spiraling down into a hole of self-hate and depression that this episode actually reveals us that he was already dealing with before coming to this world, but he was just trying to avoid it becuase he didn't know how to deal with it which was also the root of a lot of his poor choices (the rest was just simple ignorance which is bound to happen here and there when you get thrown into a completely new and different culture and hell even the laws of physics and chemestry somewhat differ). And the best part is that this isn't a Deus Ex Machina conversation where Subaru discovers the meaning and purpose of his life and he just "gets good" and everything from here on out is perfect. Nah, here he's just being able to recognise his flaws, point at them without being scared and saying yes I have these flaws, these are mine, what can I do with them to be better? They won't magically disappear, this is his start on a tough, long journey of self improvement and I'm here for a story like that.
I'm happy that you saw all sides of this episodes and how the characters are feeling currently in the story and with what they're struggling, not only with the impending threat at hand but also internally. Really loved your discussion guys!

no i love reading analysis! I kinda think this show gets at the root issue of isekai in general as well. Isekai are made to be a start over for people unhappy with how their life turned out. This show however shows even if you were to leave to another reality you would still carry the issues you had before. I really like the idea of Rem now being with him no matter what now though. It makes sure that no matter what happens now he knows he has someone who will believe him and he can rely on instead of just being alone.
@@ReactCity Exactly, psychological issues don't disappear just because you want them to (sadly, right?). You have to deal with them and it will most probably be hard as hell and a struggle for all your life in the worst cases, but it is still better than letting them wreck your life.
And yes, Rem is really crucial especially this episode since this is the closest thing to therapy he could get right now and also having someone like her that is telling you "don't worry, we can get through these things you're struggling with, don't be scared of them knocking you down because even if you fail hard I'll be here to pick you up and help you go back at it again" is really a boon for someone battling with self-hate and all the destructive and anxious behaviours that stem from it.
There is an IF story, written by the original author, about what will happen if Subaru run away with Rem. Echidnut, an youtuber, makes some video about these IF stories. The IF stories are actually amazing and can actually make the reader get more deep insight about what happened in the main story.
I have only one word to describe this masterpiece. IMO tho🤓

Re:0 will have 11 arcs in total, Season 1 covers the first 3 arcs, while Season 2 only covers Arc 4 and the Novel is currently on Arc 7, thats another reason as to why there isn't a fixed objective yet, Season 1 is just the introduction to the characters and world
Each year on Subaru's birthday (April fools haha), Tappei releases a special "IF" chapter. In these chapters, it is shown what would have happened if Subaru choose the path of 'Sin' and did something contrary to what he did in the main story.
The Sloth IF is about what would have happened if Rem accepted Subaru's proposal and ran away together.

The Lust IF is about what would happened if Subaru married with all of the royal candidates + Rem and Ram. But this is more of a joke haha

You guys edit way too much. This is probably the most important moment in season 1 and the subaru self hatred speech is untouchable moment. Shouldve not edited anything imo. Season 2 has a lot of emotional moments so please bear this in mind for the future. I love your reactions because its real so please don't edit out things at golden moment

i will try to edit it leaving in those parts more in the future. the reason alot of it was cut out of this episode is because alot of moments had us blankly staring as we took in the speech so i didn't want to leave in what i thought was a bad reaction. Ill keep it in mind to leave in the heavy moments regardless if i can , this one was just so long that i didn't want to go too far over 10 minutes.
i dont get what you are getting at they included important moments there,and if they go over 10 minutes they get copyrighted,and cutting out them blankly staring at screen is neccesary.
The only solution is releasing a full length just timer like other reactiors on patreon,doesnt have to be every episode but important ones for people like you who care.

Puck's form here is called beast of the end(there are 4 i think),Puck doesn't have the strength to be in form,but because of the contract with Emilia is she dies ,puck destroys the world(he cant stand a world without emilia) he also gets the huge amount of mana reserves emilia has which give puck the mana to turn into beast of the end.

Rem is one of my favorite characters and I expect Rem and Subaru will end up together (Tappei plays with it, with not knowing who Subaru will end up with). But I didn't get angry with him because well, this was expected.
Anyways, if Subaru would have accepted that he loves Rem, they would be together now so, the author would lose all the game that romance and a love triangle can bring to a story.
Interesting data: In an interview, the author said that Subaru would have married a girl like Rem in Japan if he never traveled to Lugunica.
Also there is a "what if" of what would have happen if Rem would have accepted Subaru's propossal. It's a canon what if, with novels and manga.

In recent chapters Subaru/Rem are steadily getting back on track. They even go through the same back-and-forth lines they had in Arc 2. Between a guy who uses people as pawns and a guy who puts his own life on the line to save people, I think I know who Rem will choose.
I read the first line and stopped. I fell bad for Rem fans that think Subaru/Rem is a thing...
Rem is my favorite character hands down, but I don't think she's going to end up with Subaru, and honestly that might be a good thing. The best thing for her character growth would be for her to understand how important her friendship with Subaru is, but at the same time learn to cultivate other relationships. Hopefully, that would allow her to end up with a romantic partner who would make her their number one priority.
For all the people that hate on Subaru for rejecting Rem, think on this. A lesser man could very easily have seen this as a chance to have his cake and eat it too. He could very easily have taken advantage of Rem's love for him. He could have easily accepted what she was offering and using her to satisfy himself. Used her until he got back to Emilia, then discarded her. That's not love. Rejecting her is the real act of love for her. Refusing to take advantage of her. Just my opinion.

Her confession wasn't bad but you can see the red flags when comes to Rem as a person which makes it even more sad.
She defined her life to Subaru by having no other dreams or goals in life other then just being wife to Subaru, she's basically not even maid at this point, She went from defining her value and worth directing it to Ram then just onto Subaru so she never actually improved as a person.
Her unconditional love isn't healthy because she doesn't care what he really does as long she can be with Subaru and acts according to mental imaging.
She's enabling Subaru hero complex which is a big NO NO, and placed on a pedestal and gave him impossible expectations but this is also Subaru fault for doing this because he's our (lovable idiot) because you know about idealization it ends in failure all the time which will cause further suffering and torment to his mental health. ( more Subaru suffering for us to watch)
She wasn't really trying to understand him or try to talk with him, she was mostly just trying to be all cutesy. It's one thing to tell them what you love about them but when people go through what Subaru is doing the last thing you want to actually do is try to be all cutesy with them it's not actually healthy and just placing them more on a pedestal rather then just trying to understand and help them out on why he wants to run away.
She was justifying his bad behavior during early episodes by rewarding him with lap pillows instead of trying to talk with him about his problems with Emilia and way he acted.
She wants more then anything to sacrifice her life to Subaru so she can feel cared about.
That's really all it is. It's not like she's bad character she just has tons and tons of problems when comes to herself like everyone else. Also other thing's but ill leave those out lol.
